Spirit Charms are special items that provide passive bonuses and unique gameplay effects. Some charms offer powerful advantages, while others come with drawbacks that force you to adapt your build.
Unlike normal gear, Spirit Charms can completely change how your character plays, making them one of the most important progression systems in VV: Ultimatum.
VV Ultimatum Spirit Charms Guide – Charm Tiers, Merging
Every Spirit Charm has a Tier value.
Each tier occupies a certain number of Notches on your character.
Your total recommended notch limit is 3 Notches.
If the combined tier value of your equipped charms exceeds 3 Notches, you begin suffering a maximum health penalty.
Notch Penalty
For every notch above the limit, you lose:
- 6% Maximum HP per excess notch
This means equipping too many high-tier charms can significantly reduce your survivability.
Because of this, the strongest setup is not always the one with the highest-tier charms. Sometimes a lower-tier charm combination provides better overall value.
How to Remove Spirit Charms
Spirit Charms are not permanent.
To remove them, you must enter the Valley of Screams.
The Valley of Screams can only be accessed through a purple portal that spawns randomly throughout the world.
Once inside, you can remove unwanted charms and adjust your setup.
Why Spirit Charms Are Important
Spirit Charms can provide:
- Increased damage
- Additional defense
- Healing effects
- Revival mechanics
- Status effects
- Build-specific bonuses
- Unique passive abilities
Some charms provide pure benefits while others trade power for drawbacks.
Choosing the right charm setup is an important part of creating an effective build.
Spirit Charm Example: Undying Soul
One of the Spirit Charms mentioned by players is Undying Soul.
Effects:
- Revives you after death
Drawback:
- Health begins draining after revival
- You must continue dealing damage to stay alive
This makes it extremely powerful for aggressive builds but risky for defensive players.
Charm Tiers
Spirit Charms are divided into multiple tiers.
Higher-tier charms generally provide stronger effects but consume more notches.
Managing your notch count becomes increasingly important as you acquire stronger charms.
Merging Spirit Charms
One of the most advanced Spirit Charm systems is Charm Merging.
Instead of using standard charms, players can combine two charms together to create a stronger merged version.
Merged charms often provide improved statistics, enhanced passives, or entirely new combinations of effects.
However, the trade-off is that the resulting charm usually becomes a higher tier.
Where to Merge Charms
Charm Merging takes place inside a secret laboratory located in Hueco Mundo.
Before you can begin merging charms, you must obtain an Energy Cell.
Energy Cell Requirement
An Energy Cell is a crafted item required to access the charm merging system.
Without an Energy Cell, the merge station cannot be used.
How Charm Merging Works
The process is simple:
- Obtain two Spirit Charms.
- Obtain an Energy Cell.
- Visit the secret Hueco Mundo laboratory.
- Merge the two charms.
- Receive a stronger merged charm.
The merged charm gains improved effects but also increases in tier.
Because higher-tier charms consume more notches, you’ll need to balance power against survivability.
