If you’re wondering why another player with similar gear is dealing far more damage than you, there’s a good chance the answer isn’t their weapon—it’s their cards.
Cards are one of the biggest power boosts in SpiritVale. While upgrading your equipment increases your base stats, a well-built card setup can dramatically improve your damage, survivability, movement speed, or even boss farming efficiency.
The best part is that cards aren’t locked behind a single activity. You can earn them from monsters, bosses, crafting, and even by upgrading duplicates you’ve collected along the way.
This guide explains everything you need to know about the card system, including how to farm cards, equip them, combine duplicates, and which card combinations are worth chasing during Early Access.
SpiritVale Cards Guide – Best Cards, Farming Locations & Card Combos
Cards are special items that can be inserted into your equipment to grant permanent stat bonuses.
Instead of replacing your gear every few levels, cards allow you to keep improving your favorite equipment by adding extra effects.
Every piece of gear has a limited number of card slots.
| Equipment | Maximum Card Slots | Unlock Level |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | 2 | Level 8 |
| Armor | 2 | Level 8 |
| Accessory 1 | 1 | Level 8 |
| Accessory 2 | 1 | Level 8 |
That gives you a total of six card slots, allowing plenty of room to customize your build.
Card Rarity Explained
Not every card is equally powerful.
Higher rarity cards provide much stronger stat bonuses but are also significantly harder to obtain.
| Rarity | Color | Stat Bonus | Drop Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | Gray | +1–3 | Very Common |
| Uncommon | Green | +3–6 | Common |
| Rare | Blue | +6–12 | Uncommon |
| Epic | Purple | +12–20 | Rare |
| Legendary | Orange | +20–35 | Extremely Rare |
When you’re starting out, don’t worry about chasing Legendary cards immediately. Even a complete set of good Rare cards can carry you through a huge portion of the game.
How to Get Cards in SpiritVale
There are several ways to build your collection.
Monster Drops
Almost every monster in SpiritVale has its own unique card.
Generally speaking:
- Normal monsters have roughly a 1–5% drop rate.
- Elite enemies drop cards around 10–15% of the time.
- Bosses have much higher drop rates, usually around 25–50%, and always reward at least an Uncommon card.
If you’re farming a specific monster repeatedly, you’ll eventually collect its card naturally.
Card Exchange NPC
Once duplicates start filling your inventory, visit the Card Exchange NPC in Ironforge Outpost.
You can trade:
- 10 duplicate cards of the same rarity
for
- 1 random card from the next rarity tier.
It’s a great way to turn unwanted duplicates into something more valuable.
Card Forge
At Level 20, you’ll unlock the Card Forge.
This crafting station allows you to combine duplicate cards.
Recipe:
- 5 cards of the same rarity
- 100% success rate
- No additional crafting materials required
It’s one of the easiest ways to slowly upgrade your collection over time.
Events and Login Rewards
Seasonal events and login rewards occasionally include exclusive cards that can’t always be obtained elsewhere.
These are worth collecting whenever they’re available.
How to Equip Cards
Installing cards into your equipment only takes a few seconds.
- Open your Inventory.
- Select the Cards tab.
- Right-click the card you want to use.
- Choose Slot into Equipment.
- Select the equipment piece.
Once inserted, the card’s bonuses become active immediately.
Can You Remove Cards?
Yes.
Cards aren’t permanently attached.
Simply purchase a Card Remover from the General Goods NPC for 500 Gold, then use it to safely remove the card without destroying it.
