The biggest feature of this update is Roaming Fish.
Instead of certain fish always appearing in the same location, you’ll now occasionally find giant roaming fish moving around different parts of the world. These act almost like moving hotspots.
When you fish near one of these roaming fish, your chances of catching that specific species become significantly higher.
This makes exploring much more rewarding because you’re no longer forced to stand in one fishing spot for hours. If you spot one of these roaming creatures on the horizon, it’s usually worth sailing over immediately.
The new system encourages players to:
- Explore different areas instead of staying in one location.
- Watch the horizon while sailing.
- Farm rarer fish much faster whenever roaming fish appear.
If you’re trying to complete collections, this mechanic is going to save a lot of grinding.
Spears Have Been Reworked

Previously, many players ignored them because regular fishing was simply more efficient. With this update, Spears have become much more useful and fit naturally into the new roaming fish system.

It’s a fun location that feels very different from the rest of Fisch and is worth visiting even if you’re only there for the rewards.
Water Park Wade Quest
As soon as you arrive at the Water Park, you’ll meet Water Park Wade.
The park’s water system has become clogged with junk, and Wade needs your help clearing everything out.
Your objective is simple:
- Fish out the junk blocking the pipes.
- Help restore the water flow.
- Complete the quest objectives.
- Collect the rewards once everything is fixed.
It’s a nice change from normal fishing and gives players another activity besides simply catching fish all day.
Help Find the Missing Floaties
There are also additional quests involving three NPCs:
- Milo
- Ryder
- Drew
These characters need help recovering missing floaties that have disappeared around the Water Park pools.
Completing these quests rewards you with additional items while also introducing you to the new area.
If you’re planning to 100% the update, make sure you talk to all three NPCs instead of only finishing Wade’s quest.
New FishFest Beast Editions
Collectors have something new to chase as well.
This update introduces eight brand-new FishFest Beast Editions.
If you’re someone who enjoys filling every collection or hunting rare catches, these new additions will keep you busy for a while.
The exact spawning methods vary depending on the event, so keep participating in FishFest activities whenever they’re available.
Crew System Improvements
The crew feature also received several quality-of-life upgrades.

Settings Menu Revamp
The settings menu has also been redesigned.
Nothing game-changing here, but navigation is cleaner, and finding different options is much easier than before.

Double XP Weekend
The developers also announced a Double XP Weekend alongside this update.
If you’ve been waiting to level up your fishing progression, rods, or other systems, this is one of the best times to grind.

What I like most is that this update isn’t just another batch of fish to collect. The roaming fish mechanic actually changes how you explore the world, the Water Park gives players something different to do, and the crew improvements make playing with friends more rewarding.
The update also sets things up nicely for next week’s Harpoon Gun release, so it feels like this is only the first half of a much bigger expansion.
