Beast of Reincarnation Cleanse Walker Guide – Upgrade

If you’ve been wandering around Beast of Reincarnation and suddenly picked up a weird blue, yellow, or green skull, there’s a good chance you had the same reaction I did: Okay… what am I supposed to do with this?

The game doesn’t really stop to explain these items when they first start appearing. You can’t seem to use them from your inventory, and there’s no obvious upgrade button attached to them either. The answer is the Cleanse Walker.

The Cleanse Walker is much more than Emma’s transportation. Think of it as your mobile base where you can upgrade equipment, cook food, grow crops, raise chickens, talk with companions, save your game, and eventually unlock several useful research options.

Those colored skulls are also tied directly to improving the Walker. So, if you’ve been collecting Generator Devices, Electronic Brains, and Memory Chips, don’t sell or ignore them.

This guide covers how the Cleanse Walker works, what every facility does, how its upgrade system works, and what the Power, Calculations, and Knowledge ranks actually unlock.

Beast of Reincarnation Cleanse Walker Guide – Upgrades, Colored Skulls & All Features

The Cleanse Walker was designed to transport Purifiers, but for Emma and her companions, it essentially becomes a moving home.

You’ll keep coming back here throughout your journey, especially as more systems become available. Some visits might be as simple as upgrading a weapon and heading straight back out. Other times, you’ll want to cook, manage crops, check research, talk to your companions, or simply rest before continuing.

One useful thing to know early is that you can return to the Cleanse Walker from Campfires.

And there’s really no reason to be stingy about using it. There’s no special punishment for returning to the Walker frequently, so if you need upgrades, healing, supplies, or just want to manage your facilities, go back.

When you’re ready to leave again, you’ll also get some control over where Emma spawns, including the option to return to the Campfire you originally travelled from.

All Cleanse Walker Facilities and What They Do

There’s quite a bit packed inside the Walker, and more options become relevant as you progress through the game.

Here’s what you can actually do there.

Communicator

The Communicator becomes available after meeting Mikoto in Zone 2.

From here, you can call Kunai and Mikoto. Mikoto is particularly useful because speaking with her gives you the option to reset Emma’s Attributes.

That makes the Communicator worth remembering if you’ve invested points into a build that isn’t working as well as you expected. You aren’t necessarily stuck with those choices forever.

Attribute Portal

The Attribute Portal is one of the places you’ll probably visit most often.

It allows you to:

  • Level up Attributes
  • Acquire new Skills
  • Create manual saves

As your build starts coming together, make a habit of checking the Attribute Portal rather than letting upgrade opportunities pile up.

The manual save option is also useful before experimenting with builds or heading into something that looks suspiciously like a difficult encounter.

Workbench

Found a weapon you really like? The Workbench is where you can start improving it.

You can perform upgrades for:

  • Swords
  • Projectile weapons
  • Ranged weapons

These upgrades cost Amber, so you’ll need to decide whether a weapon is worth investing in rather than upgrading absolutely everything you pick up.

The Workbench becomes even more useful once you raise the Walker’s Calculations rank, because higher Calculations eventually allows you to duplicate Spirit Stones.

That can make your earlier skull hunting pay off in a much more noticeable way later on.

Kagura

Kagura handles quite a few systems aboard the Cleanse Walker, so don’t treat her as someone you only speak to for story dialogue.

Talking with Kagura can reveal additional flashbacks and story details, but she’s also involved with:

  • Cooking
  • Grow Research
  • Learning recipes
  • Improving harvest yields
  • Food Production Settings

Food becomes considerably more convenient once you start developing these systems instead of relying entirely on whatever you happen to find while exploring.

Kagura can also help manage the Grow Chamber, which is handy if manually babysitting crops isn’t exactly what you signed up for.

Koo

You should also regularly check in with Koo.

Talking to him reveals more about his backstory and helps improve your rapport, but he also has Item Research and Skill Research options.

Item Research becomes particularly important as you increase the Cleanse Walker’s Knowledge rank, since additional research can unlock useful items to bring into combat.

So even if you’re mainly focused on fighting Nushi and exploring new zones, don’t completely ignore Koo’s research menu.

Brad

Got a backpack full of stuff you don’t want?

Go see Brad.

Brad acts as the Walker’s merchant and lets you purchase various:

  • Weapons
  • Materials
  • Valuables

You can also sell unwanted items to him.

It’s a simple system compared with some of the Walker’s research facilities, but you’ll probably use Brad fairly often as your inventory fills up during longer exploration runs.

Incubator

The Incubator allows you to raise chickens from Fertilized Eggs discovered while exploring the world.

Those chickens then produce eggs that Kagura can use as cooking ingredients.

There is one catch: you can’t immediately fill the Incubator with as many chickens as you want.

Its available slots are tied to your Power rank, and expanding those slots requires Facility Modules found while exploring.

So if you find a Facility Module, don’t dismiss it as random junk. It plays an important part in expanding your Walker’s production facilities.

Grow Chamber

The Grow Chamber works similarly to the Incubator, except you’re dealing with plants rather than chickens.

While exploring, you’ll occasionally discover Seedlings. Bring them back to the Cleanse Walker and they can be planted inside the Grow Chamber.

You can manage the planting yourself, but there’s also a much easier option.

Hand the job over to Kagura.

She can take care of what gets planted and handle harvesting, which means you don’t need to turn your monster-hunting adventure into a full-time farming simulator.

Just like the Incubator, Grow Chamber capacity depends on your Power rank, while additional slots require Facility Modules.

Shower

Yes, Emma can actually take a shower.

After running around fighting monsters and getting covered in grime, using the Shower cleans Emma up.

But it isn’t purely cosmetic.

Taking a shower also increases your rapport with Koo, giving the facility a small but worthwhile gameplay purpose.

It’s easy to overlook, so keep it in mind whenever you return from a long trip.

Bed

The Bed has several uses beyond simply making the Walker feel like an actual home.

Choosing Rest Until Morning:

  • Fully restores HP
  • Fully restores Hunger
  • Starts a new day

You can also access Special Content from the bed, including the option to change the hat Emma wears.

Finally, the Bed provides another way to create a manual save.

If you’ve just completed a long exploration run and collected something important, saving before heading back outside isn’t a bad habit to develop.

How to Upgrade the Cleanse Walker

This is where those mysterious colored skulls finally come into play.

The Cleanse Walker has three primary upgrade stats:

Power, Calculations, and Knowledge.

You can see their current ranks toward the bottom-right of the screen while aboard the Walker.

Unlike a traditional upgrade menu where you spend currency and manually select a level, these ranks are improved by collecting three specific resources:

Colored Skull Resource Cleanse Walker Stat
Blue Generator Device Power
Yellow Electronic Brain Calculations
Green Memory Chip Knowledge

The important part is that you don’t manually consume these skulls.

Once you return to the Cleanse Walker, the Generator Devices, Electronic Brains, and Memory Chips you’re carrying are automatically invested into their respective ranks.

So if you picked up several skulls and couldn’t figure out why there wasn’t a “Use” option in your inventory, that’s why.

Just bring them home.

Where to Find Generator Devices, Electronic Brains, and Memory Chips

The three skull resources are scattered throughout the open world.

One of the main places to find them is inside Strongboxes, so they’re absolutely worth opening whenever you encounter one.

You can also occasionally obtain skull resources by defeating and looting Rusted Golems.

The exact number you receive isn’t always identical. Depending on the location, you can generally find somewhere around one to four skulls at a time.

That makes thorough exploration worthwhile. These aren’t just collectibles added for completionists; they directly affect the facilities and upgrades available inside your main hub.

How Many Colored Skulls Do You Need?

Each Cleanse Walker category can reach Rank 7.

To completely max them out, you’ll need:

Upgrade Resource Needed Total Required
Power Rank 7 Generator Devices 30
Calculations Rank 7 Electronic Brains 30
Knowledge Rank 7 Memory Chips 30

That means maxing all three categories requires 30 Generator Devices, 30 Electronic Brains, and 30 Memory Chips.

There’s another detail worth knowing before you obsessively hunt down every last skull.

There are more skull resources available in the world than you actually need to reach Rank 7.

Once you’ve maxed the corresponding stat, additional skulls of that type aren’t completely wasted. Instead, they’re converted into Amber.

So you don’t need to worry about accidentally collecting “too many.”

What Does Power Unlock?

Generator Devices are the blue skulls, and collecting them increases the Cleanse Walker’s Power rank.

Power primarily affects your equipment upgrades and production capacity.

Increasing Power allows you to access further weapon upgrades while also expanding what you can do with the Incubator and Grow Chamber.

That means higher Power can ultimately give you room for more chickens and crops.

There is still another requirement for those expansions, though.

Increasing your Power determines how many slots can become available, while actually opening additional Incubator or Grow Chamber slots requires Facility Modules.

Think of Power as raising the Walker’s potential capacity and Facility Modules as the items that actually let you take advantage of that extra space.

What Do Calculations Unlock?

Electronic Brains are the yellow skulls, and they increase the Cleanse Walker’s Calculations rank.

Calculations is particularly useful if you’re spending a lot of time crafting, farming, and improving resources.

Higher Calculations unlocks benefits such as:

  • Spirit Stone duplication
  • Additional recipes
  • Increased poultry yields
  • Increased crop harvest yields

The Spirit Stone duplication feature is one of the more interesting rewards here, especially once you’re deeper into upgrading equipment.

Meanwhile, better crop and poultry yields make the Walker’s passive production systems more efficient.

If you regularly use cooking and farming, don’t sleep on Electronic Brains.

What Does Knowledge Unlock?

The green skulls are Memory Chips, and these increase the Cleanse Walker’s Knowledge rank.

Knowledge leans more toward ranged combat and Koo’s Item Research.

Raising Knowledge allows you to improve ranged weapons and projectiles, including upgrades related to things such as:

  • Damage
  • Quiver capacity
  • Bow draw time

You’ll also gain access to additional Item Research with Koo, allowing you to unlock new equipment and items that can be brought into battle.

Players leaning heavily into bows and projectile-based combat will naturally get a lot of value from pushing Knowledge higher.

That said, even melee-focused players shouldn’t completely neglect it because Item Research has benefits beyond simply improving your bow.

Which Cleanse Walker Upgrade Should You Prioritize?

You don’t really need to stress about creating a perfect Power, Calculations, and Knowledge progression route because the resources are separate.

Finding a Generator Device doesn’t force you to choose between Power and Knowledge, for example. A blue skull automatically contributes toward Power, a yellow skull goes toward Calculations, and a green skull goes toward Knowledge.

Still, knowing what each one does helps when deciding whether it’s worth going out of your way for a skull you’ve spotted.

As a quick rule of thumb:

Power is especially useful for equipment upgrades and expanding your farming facilities.

Calculations becomes valuable for Spirit Stone duplication, recipes, and improving production yields.

Knowledge is particularly good for ranged/projectile upgrades and Koo’s Item Research.

Ultimately, you’ll want all three at Rank 7, so grabbing every colored skull you come across is usually worthwhile.

Cleanse Walker Tips You Should Know Early

There are a few small things about the Cleanse Walker that can save you some confusion later.

First, don’t hoard colored skulls waiting for a special NPC or upgrade menu. They’re automatically applied when you return to the Walker.

Second, use Campfires whenever you need to head back. Since there’s no penalty for returning to the Cleanse Walker, there’s little reason to struggle through an area when you’d benefit from upgrading, cooking, resting, or managing your inventory first.

Also keep an eye out for Facility Modules. Power ranks alone won’t perform every Incubator and Grow Chamber expansion for you.

And finally, don’t feel like you have to stop collecting skulls after hitting Rank 7. Extra resources are converted into Amber, so they can still provide some value.

All Generator Device, Electronic Brain, and Memory Chip Locations

Generator Devices, Electronic Brains, and Memory Chips can be discovered throughout the game’s 12 zones, primarily while exploring Strongboxes and occasionally by looting Rusted Golems.

You’ll need 30 of each resource to reach Rank 7 in all three Cleanse Walker categories:

  • 30 Generator Devices for maximum Power
  • 30 Electronic Brains for maximum Calculations
  • 30 Memory Chips for maximum Knowledge

Since Beast of Reincarnation contains more skull resources than you actually need for the three Rank 7 upgrades, you don’t necessarily have to find every single one just to max out the Cleanse Walker.

Still, they’re worth picking up whenever you see them. Even after a category is maxed, the corresponding extra skulls get converted into Amber.

The easiest approach is simply to explore thoroughly, open every Strongbox you find, check Rusted Golems, and return to the Cleanse Walker regularly. Your collected skulls will be deposited automatically, and you’ll gradually see Power, Calculations, and Knowledge climb as you progress through the twelve zones.

Once those upgrades start stacking up, the Cleanse Walker goes from feeling like a glorified fast-travel hub to one of the most useful parts of Beast of Reincarnation.
