Getting a Gold Medal in IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator isn’t always as straightforward as simply finishing a mission. High Command gives you the medal requirements, but the game does a pretty good job of hiding the actual numbers.
If you’re trying to get Gold on every mission, that’s where things get annoying. You can finish a mission perfectly and still have no idea why the medal didn’t pop.
So, I’ve put together this guide to make those hidden requirements easier to understand. Some values are confirmed, while others are still being worked out. I’ll keep the uncertain requirements clearly marked rather than pretending we know something that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Glory to Castile, Operator.
IRON NEST Heavy Turret Simulator Gold Medal Requirements
Each mission can have several hidden medal conditions. These can involve things such as:
- Enemies killed
- Allies killed
- Consecutive kills
- Accuracy
- Kills per shot
- Requisition spent
- Recon requests
- Time between kills
- Time remaining during counter-battery missions
- Time before your first shot
The internal names used by the game are also useful because they give you a pretty good idea of what each medal is checking.
For example, enemy_kills_6to15 refers to an enemy-kill requirement, while ally_kills_0to2 checks how many allied units you accidentally send to the great beyond.
And yes, accidentally is doing some heavy lifting there.
Calibration Fire Gold Medal
Calibration Fire is one of the easiest missions when it comes to Gold.
There is currently only one medal requirement:
| Medal | Requirement |
|---|---|
shots_fired_1to3 |
Fire 1 shot |
That’s it.
If you’re attempting to Gold the mission, don’t start throwing shells around unnecessarily. Fire a single shot and satisfy the requirement.
Fire and Light Gold Medal
Fire and Light also has just one medal requirement.
| Medal | Requirement |
|---|---|
shots_fired_4to8 |
Fire 4 shots or fewer |
The important part here is that you don’t need to hit exactly four shots. The requirement is 4 or less.
So if you’re trying to play safely, avoid wasting ammunition and keep your total number of shots under the limit.
Liberation Gold Medal Requirements
Liberation is where the Gold requirements start getting considerably more interesting.
There are four medals:
| Medal | Requirement |
|---|---|
ally_kills_0to2 |
Allies killed: 0 |
avg_accuracy_50to250 |
Average accuracy: Unknown |
kill_streak_3to6 |
Consecutive kills: 6 or more |
req_spent_30to100 |
Requisition spent: 30 or less |
The easiest requirements to control are the obvious ones.
Don’t kill allied units, maintain a six-kill streak, and keep your requisition spending at 30 or below.
The average-accuracy requirement is still being investigated, so don’t assume a specific percentage until it has been confirmed.
Counter-Battery Gold Medal Requirements
Counter-Battery has four medal conditions currently identified:
| Medal | Requirement |
|---|---|
three_kill_window_30to90 |
Get 3 kills within 30 seconds or less |
counter_battery_100to260 |
Have 260+ seconds of counter-battery time remaining |
| Unknown | Requisition spent: 30 or less |
enemy_kills_6to10 |
Kill 10 enemies |
There’s also an interesting potential discrepancy with the three-kill requirement.
Reports suggest that High Command’s internal documentation may currently allow the three-kill salvo medal at 45 seconds, despite the displayed/internal value suggesting 30 seconds.
Until that gets corrected, it’s safest to aim for the stricter 30-second window.
Iron Road Gold Medal Requirements
Iron Road has four requirements currently identified:
ally_kills_0to2— 0 allied kills- Unknown — 20 or more consecutive kills
- Unknown — 2 or more kills per shot, with at least 10 enemies killed
- Unknown — 0 recon requisitions, while also requiring kills
This mission is heavily focused on efficiency.
The big thing to watch is your kills-per-shot ratio. You can’t simply fire constantly and hope to brute-force your way through the mission.
Make your ammunition count.
Siege of Cartagena Gold Medal Requirements
Siege of Cartagena currently has these known requirements:
| Requirement | Target |
|---|---|
| Allied kills | 0 |
| Enemy kills | 15 |
| Recon requisitioned | 0, while also getting kills |
| Requisition spent | 50 or less |
This is another mission where unnecessary support spending can ruin an otherwise successful run.
If you’re going for Gold, keep your requisition usage under control and avoid requesting recon.
The Gorge Gold Medal Requirements
The Gorge has four known requirements:
ally_kills_0to2— 0 allied kills- Unknown — 10 or more consecutive kills
enemy_kills_10to30— 30 enemies killedkill_shot_ratio_0.8to2_10kills— 2 or more kills per shot, with at least 10 enemies killed
The combination of 30 total kills and a 2:1 kills-per-shot ratio makes ammunition efficiency especially important here.
Don’t fire shells just because a target exists. Wait for good opportunities where one shell can take out multiple enemies.
Rock of Gibraltar Gold Medal Requirements
Rock of Gibraltar currently has four requirements:
ally_kills_0to2— 0 allied kills- Unknown — 2 enemy kills
- Unknown — 0 recon requisitions, while also getting kills
req_spent_10to30— 10 or less requisition spent
This one is relatively simple compared with some of the later missions.
Keep your requisition spending at 10 or below, don’t request recon, and make sure you get the required kills without hitting allied forces.
Dead Reckoning Gold Medal Requirements
The known requirements for Dead Reckoning are:
ally_kills_0to2— 0 allied kills- Unknown — 6 or more consecutive kills
- Unknown — 15 enemies killed
- Unknown — 30 or less requisition spent
The six-kill streak is the requirement I’d pay the most attention to during the run.
Don’t break your streak by firing at targets that aren’t worth the shot.
Fire on Call Gold Medal Requirements
Fire on Call currently has four requirements:
ally_kills_0to2— 0 allied kills- Unknown — 30 enemies killed
kill_shot_ratio_0.8to2_10kills— 2 or more kills per shot, with at least 10 enemies killed- Unknown — 0 recon requisitions, while also getting kills
This is another efficiency-focused mission.
You need 30 kills, but you also need to maintain a 2:1 kills-per-shot ratio once you’ve reached the required kill count.
That means firing fewer, more effective shells is the way to approach it.
High Tide Gold Medal Requirements
High Tide has a rather amusing situation at the moment.
The listed requirements include:
kill_streak_3to6— 6 or more consecutive killsthree_kill_window_30to90— 3 kills within 30 seconds or lessavg_accuracy_50to250— Unknownkill_streak_3to6— 6 or more consecutive kills
Yes, the kill-streak requirement appears twice.
It looks like High Command may have duplicated the medal requirement internally. If the duplication remains active, you effectively have one less unique condition to worry about.
For now, focus on getting your six-kill streak and three kills within the required time window while keeping your accuracy high.
Blind Fire Gold Medal Requirements
Blind Fire currently has four known conditions:
- Unknown — 50 or less requisition spent
- Unknown — 6 or more consecutive kills
- Unknown — 20 enemies killed
- Unknown — 0 recon requisitions, while also getting kills
This mission rewards a controlled approach.
You need enough kills to reach 20, but you also need to preserve your kill streak and avoid wasting requisition.
Phantom Battery Gold Medal Requirements
Phantom Battery currently has these known requirements:
- Unknown — 0 recon requisitions, while also getting kills
- Unknown — 9 enemies killed
- Unknown — Average accuracy requirement is unknown
- Unknown — 260 or more seconds of counter-battery time remaining
The counter-battery requirement is the big one here.
You need to finish with at least 260 seconds remaining, so don’t spend unnecessary time dealing with targets or waste shots that don’t contribute to the objective.
Final Harvest Gold Medal Requirements
Final Harvest currently has four requirements:
- Unknown — 0 allied kills
- Unknown — 0 recon requisitions, while also getting kills
- Unknown — 30 enemies killed
- Unknown — 50 seconds until first shot, while also getting kills
That final requirement is particularly interesting.
You need to wait until 50 seconds before firing your first shot, while still satisfying the required kill condition.
So don’t panic-fire immediately when the mission begins. If you’re going for this Gold Medal, the opening timing matters.
White Shells Gold Medal Requirements
The Gold requirements for White Shells haven’t been confirmed yet.
Currently, there isn’t enough reliable information to list the four medal conditions.
Rather than guessing, it’s better to leave these requirements marked as unknown until they’re confirmed through additional runs.
Skirmish — Challenge: Counter Battery Timer
This Skirmish challenge currently has four known requirements:
- Unknown — 0 recon requisitions, while also getting kills
- Unknown — 50 seconds until first shot, while also getting kills
- Unknown — 1.5 or more kills per shot, with at least 20 enemies killed
- Unknown — 20 or more consecutive kills
This is a serious test of efficiency.
You’ll want to combine the requirements rather than treating them separately: delay your opening shot, maintain your kill streak, avoid recon and make sure your ammunition efficiency stays high.
Skirmish — Chill: Uncontested Front
The current requirements are:
- Unknown — 1.5 kills per shot, with at least 20 enemies killed
- Unknown — 20 or more consecutive kills
- Unknown — 600 or more requisition spent
- Unknown — 5 or more kills with a single shell
This one is particularly interesting because the requisition requirement works differently from several of the campaign missions.
Instead of keeping requisition spending low, you actually need to spend 600 or more.
At the same time, you’ll need:
- A 20-kill streak
- At least 20 enemies killed
- A 1.5 kills-per-shot ratio
- One shell that kills 5 or more enemies
So don’t treat the high requisition requirement as a mistake. For this particular challenge, spending more is part of the Gold condition.
Gold Medal Checklist
If you’re working through the missions one by one, these are the requirements worth remembering:
| Mission | Key Gold Requirements |
|---|---|
| Calibration Fire | 1 shot |
| Fire and Light | 4 shots or fewer |
| Liberation | 0 ally kills, 6+ streak, 30 or less requisition |
| Counter-Battery | 10 kills, 3 kills in 30 sec, 260+ sec remaining |
| Iron Road | 0 ally kills, 20+ streak, 2+ kills/shot |
| Siege of Cartagena | 0 ally kills, 15 kills, 0 recon, 50 or less requisition |
| The Gorge | 0 ally kills, 10+ streak, 30 kills, 2+ kills/shot |
| Rock of Gibraltar | 0 ally kills, 2 kills, 0 recon, 10 or less requisition |
| Dead Reckoning | 0 ally kills, 6+ streak, 15 kills, 30 or less requisition |
| Fire on Call | 0 ally kills, 30 kills, 2+ kills/shot, 0 recon |
| High Tide | 6+ streak, 3 kills within 30 sec, accuracy unknown |
| Blind Fire | 50 or less requisition, 6+ streak, 20 kills, 0 recon |
| Phantom Battery | 0 recon, 9 kills, 260+ sec remaining |
| Final Harvest | 0 ally kills, 0 recon, 30 kills, first shot at 50 sec |
| White Shells | Not confirmed |
| Challenge: Counter Battery Timer | 0 recon, first shot at 50 sec, 1.5+ kills/shot, 20+ streak |
| Chill: Uncontested Front | 1.5+ kills/shot, 20+ streak, 600+ requisition, 5 kills with one shell |
The biggest mistake is trying to complete every requirement independently. In most missions, several conditions naturally work together.
For example, if a mission asks for 20 consecutive kills and a high kills-per-shot ratio, you should already be playing around efficient multi-kill shots. There’s no reason to deliberately burn ammunition and then try to recover your ratio later.
A few habits make these medals considerably easier:
Protect allied units. If the mission requires zero allied kills, don’t take risky shots simply because you can see an enemy.
Watch your requisition spending. Some missions punish excessive spending, while others actually require it. Check the mission’s conditions before calling support.
Avoid unnecessary recon. A surprising number of Gold conditions require zero recon requests.
Build kill streaks deliberately. Don’t rush a shot that could break your streak. Wait for a reliable target when possible.
Prioritize multi-kills. If you need a kills-per-shot ratio, every shell needs to do serious work.
Learn the opening timing. Missions with a “seconds until first shot” requirement are easy to accidentally fail before you’ve even started properly.
And above all, don’t assume an unknown value is zero just because the guide hasn’t found it yet. Several of these requirements are still being investigated, so the safest approach is to treat the confirmed values as your baseline and leave yourself some margin wherever the exact threshold isn’t known.
As more medal requirements are discovered, the unknown entries can be filled in and this guide can become a proper mission-by-mission Gold checklist rather than a guessing game.
