Duskfade Starstone Mines Collectible Locations Guide

If you’re trying to 100% Starstone Mines in Duskfade, the good news is that you don’t have to worry about permanently missing anything.

Every collectible in this area can be picked up later, and you can return to Starstone Mines even after completing the main story. In fact, I’d recommend doing exactly that if you’re trying to clean everything up. Some collectibles are tucked behind areas that require abilities you won’t have during your first visit.

So don’t waste time trying to force your way into places you clearly can’t reach yet.

Come back later with the abilities you’ve unlocked through the story and you’ll be able to grab everything.

I’ve gone through the area in progression order below, so you can follow along without constantly wondering where the next collectible is hiding.

Starstone Mines Collectibles

There are several different collectible types scattered throughout Starstone Mines, including:

  • Clock Heart Pieces
  • N1-C0ins
  • Upgrade Gear
  • Thieving Kittens
  • Flasks of Dye
  • Broken Stained Glass
  • Echoes
  • Music Boxes
  • Star Core Fragments

None of them are missable, so if you’ve already finished the area, you can simply fast travel back and start cleaning up.

Clock Heart Piece #1

From the beginning of Starstone Mines, stick to the main path until you reach a bridge-like structure.

You’ll notice a large circular blue mechanism attached to the wall on the right.

Before crossing the bridge, look for the bouncy flower on the right.

Use it to launch yourself upward, then cross along the top of the bridge.

You’ll find a chest waiting for you there.

Open it to collect the first Clock Heart Piece.

This one is easy to overlook because the chest isn’t directly on the main path. If you see the blue circular mechanism, you’re in the right place.

N1-C0in #1

After collecting the Clock Heart Piece, head underneath the bridge and continue into the next area.

Once you reach the room with the massive mushrooms and orange crystals, look toward the right for a platform.

There’s a buried chest sitting on this platform.

Jump above it and use a strong attack to break open the buried chest.

Inside you’ll find your first N1-C0in.

Upgrade Gear #1

Continue forward after collecting the coin.

You’ll eventually emerge back into the room with the bridge.

Climb up the rocks on the left to return to the main route.

Just before you pass through the two arches, look toward the right.

The Upgrade Gear is sitting out in the open, so you shouldn’t have much trouble spotting it once you’re in the correct area.

Thieving Kitten #1

Continue through the arches until you reach the large open area.

As soon as you enter, head down toward the right.

You’ll find an entrance blocked by crystals.

Use a strong attack to destroy the crystals and open the way.

Go through the newly opened passage and you’ll find the Thieving Kitten inside.

This one is actually easier to spot than some of the later collectibles, but the crystal-covered entrance can make it look like an area you’re not supposed to enter.

Break the crystals.

There’s a collectible behind them.

Flask of Dye #1

Good news: you don’t have to go far for this one.

The first Flask of Dye is in the same area as the Thieving Kitten.

Look for a lily pad in the area.

The Flask of Dye is sitting on it.

Grab it before leaving this section because you’re already in the right place.

N1-C0in #2

Now return through the opening that was previously blocked by crystals.

Once you’re back in the previous area, look to the right.

You’ll see a grinding rail.

Jump onto it and follow the rail.

When the path splits into two rails, move onto the left rail.

After that, try to stay on the rightmost rail as you continue.

You’ll pass by a lever.

Hit the lever to open the gate ahead.

Continue along the rails after going through the gate.

Eventually, you’ll reach the end of the rail section.

There’s a grappling point here that lets you reach the next collectible.

Use it to grab N1-C0in #2.

This section can be a little awkward on the first attempt, so don’t worry if you miss the correct rail and have to retry it.

Upgrade Gear #2

Drop down into the middle section of the large open room.

You’re looking for the Fast Travel Point.

Once you’ve found it, look behind the glass windows nearby.

There’s a buried chest sitting behind them.

Open the chest to collect Upgrade Gear #2.

This is another one that’s much easier to find when you’re specifically looking for a chest rather than simply following the main route.

Broken Stained Glass #1

Start from the Fast Travel Point.

Look for a column and a nearby wooden wall that you can jump toward.

Follow this route into a cave containing bright red flowers.

This is actually part of the main path, so you shouldn’t have to make a huge detour.

While you’re inside the cave, keep an eye on the right side.

You’ll eventually spot a purple door.

Use the Stopwatch ability to pass through it.

There’s a platforming section on the other side.

Complete it and you’ll reach a chest containing Broken Stained Glass #1.

If you don’t have the Stopwatch ability yet, simply mark this location mentally and return later.

There’s no need to force it.

Flask of Dye #2

Continue through Starstone Mines until you reach the small town filled with buildings made from cogs.

At the beginning of this area, use the large cogs to reach the small bridge that you pass underneath when entering the town.

From there, follow the wooden path that wraps around one of the buildings.

Keep following it upward.

The path eventually takes you to the top, where you’ll find Flask of Dye #2.

This is a good example of a collectible that’s easy to miss if you simply rush through the town.

Whenever you see a wooden path circling a building, follow it all the way up.

Echo #1

Continue along the main route through the cog-filled town.

At one point, you’ll fall through a broken metal grate in the floor.

Once you land, look around this area.

You’ll find Echo #1 waiting for you.

There’s no complicated puzzle here, so just make sure you don’t immediately run out of the room after falling through the grate.

Music Box #1

After working your way through the town, you’ll eventually circle back toward the entrance.

On your first visit, this happens after obtaining the Grappling Hook, which allows you to leave the area.

Once you’re back at the entrance, look to the left.

You’ll see a small wooden ramp leading toward a grappling point.

Use it.

After the second grappling point, look toward the right.

There’s another grappling point that will take you to the top floor of the open building.

Make your way up there and you’ll find Music Box #1.

Echo #2

Return to the main path and continue forward.

You’ll eventually pass through a short section involving lava.

After that, you’ll enter a huge room filled with tall columns.

Don’t immediately start crossing the room.

As soon as you enter, go left.

You’ll find Echo #2 there.

This is one of the easier collectibles in the later section because the room is so large that it’s tempting to immediately focus on the main route.

Take the left side first.

Star Core Fragment #1

Now start making your way through the room with the tall columns.

You’ll need to use the various grappling points to move through the area.

After the fifth grappling point, you’ll land on top of one of the columns.

This is where you need to stop and look around.

Turn toward the right and look for a spot where light is coming through the roof in the corner of the cave.

That’s where you’re headed.

Fly toward the opening and you’ll find Star Core Fragment #1.

It’s very easy to continue along the obvious route here, so don’t leave the area before checking the roof.

N1-C0in #3

Continue across the large room with the tall columns.

Eventually, you’ll reach what looks like the end of the level.

Don’t leave just yet.

Before heading through the exit, turn around.

You’ll see the final N1-C0in nearby.

To reach it, use the small ledge on the side of the column to the left of the coin.

Work your way across the ledge and you’ll be able to reach the collectible.

Once you’ve picked it up, you’re free to continue toward the end of Starstone Mines.
