Travellers Rest Rum and Runes Achievement Guide

The Rum and Runes update adds a new area, new characters, arcane cooking, spells, and a handful of achievements to work toward. Most of them are tied directly to the new content, so you can unlock them naturally while exploring the update.

That said, a couple of the achievements are easy to miss if you don’t know where to go or what you’re supposed to interact with. Here’s the quickest way to work through all of them.

Gain Passage to the Hollow

The first thing you’ll want to do is unlock access to the new Hollow area.

Start by visiting Amos’ shop. When you arrive, a cutscene will trigger.

After the cutscene, speak to Amos again and ask him what he is hiding in his cellar.

You’ll then need to enter a password using the small barrels next to the large barrels.

The correct sequence is:

Left → Left → Right → Right → Middle

Enter the sequence correctly and you’ll gain access to the Hollow.

Charmed Cooking

For this achievement, head into the Hollow and speak with Kharma, the spider lady.

Kharma will explain that Lizzy is struggling with a large number of orders and needs some help.

You’ll need to prepare drinks based on the symbols displayed above the barrels. Pay attention to the symbols and make the corresponding drinks until you’ve completed the task.

Once you’re finished, Kharma will thank you and introduce you to Arcane Recipes.

She’ll also have an Arcane Oven available for purchase.

The Arcane Oven costs:

3 Gold + 15 Silver

So make sure you have enough money before heading over to buy it.

LEEEEEROOOOOY!

This one is much simpler and is more of a fun little encounter.

First, use the scrolls obtained from the merchant.

Once you’ve used them, head back into the Hollow and find Leroy.

Purchase a potion from Leroy.

Then just wait and see what happens.

There’s a little surprise attached to this one, so I won’t completely ruin the moment. The important part is that you need to buy the potion from Leroy after using the merchant’s scrolls.

Hocus Pocus

Next, head over to Magnus’ house.

A cutscene will trigger when you arrive, starting the new magic-related content.

Follow Magnus’ tutorial from there. This introduces you to the game’s new spell system.

After completing the tutorial, visit Atlas to purchase spells.

You’ll need to use the spells repeatedly because they run on sorcery points, which act as their fuel.

Keep using your spells and progressing through the new system until you reach:

Level 7

Once you reach level 7, you’ll become an Archmage and unlock the achievement.

So if you’re wondering why the achievement isn’t popping immediately after completing Magnus’ tutorial, don’t worry. The tutorial is only the beginning; you need to continue leveling your sorcery progression.

Over-Powered

This achievement is connected to the spell-book system.

First, purchase spells from Atlas.

You’ll then need to equip five spells in a single book.

The important part here is making sure all five spells are equipped to the same spell book, rather than spreading them between different books.

The original guide notes that this should involve the Conjurer/Archmage book, although the exact book requirement may depend on how the updated spell system handles the books.

If the achievement doesn’t trigger after equipping five spells, check that you’re using the appropriate magic book rather than simply having five spells equipped across multiple books.

Travellers Rest Rum and Runes Achievement Guide

If you’re starting the Rum and Runes content from scratch, I’d recommend doing things roughly in this order:

  1. Visit Amos’ shop and complete the cellar sequence.
  2. Enter the Hollow and explore the new area.
  3. Help Kharma with the drink orders.
  4. Purchase the Arcane Oven and start working with Arcane Recipes.
  5. Use the merchant’s scrolls, then visit Leroy and buy his potion.
  6. Visit Magnus’ house and complete the magic tutorial.
  7. Buy spells from Atlas and start using them.
  8. Continue leveling your sorcery until you reach Level 7 / Archmage.
  9. Equip five spells in one book to work toward Over-Powered.

The update is fairly straightforward once you know where everything starts. The main thing that can trip you up is the Hollow entrance, since Amos doesn’t exactly make the cellar access obvious. After that, most of the achievements simply follow the new quest and progression systems.
