If you’ve been exploring the new map in Far Far West and noticed that there seems to be a pretty suspicious secret hiding around the volcano, you’re not imagining it. There is a hidden little quest involving The Precious, and figuring it out on your own can take a ridiculous amount of time.
I know because the route isn’t exactly obvious. You need to find a special ring, carry it across the map while dealing with a rather annoying visual effect, and then somehow figure out where the game actually wants you to take it.
So, here’s the entire Hellfire secret explained from start to finish, including where to find the ring, how to get through the traps, what to do at the volcano, and how to finally destroy the ring.
Far Far West Hellfire Secret Guide – Precious Ring Unlock
Your first objective is to find The One Ring.
It’s hidden inside a small dungeon in the top-right section of the map. The easiest way to know you’re getting close is to listen for the sound of traps. If you can hear traps nearby, you’re in the right area.
Once you find the entrance, head inside and you’ll have a short puzzle to complete.
The idea is pretty simple: make your way through the stationary traps without getting hit. Take your time here rather than rushing through it. Once you reach the end of the little dungeon, you’ll be able to claim the ring.
And yes, it’s basically that ring.
How to Carry The Precious
Once you’ve picked up the ring, the real journey begins.
While you’re carrying it, the game gives you a black-and-white visual effect. It makes the screen considerably harder to read, so don’t be surprised if the trip feels a little disorienting.
There is another important detail that can easily catch you off guard: the ring does not make you immune to enemies.
You are not invisible, and you’re not invincible while carrying it. Enemies will still attack you normally, so you’ll need to deal with them or avoid them as you make your way toward the destination.
Also, be careful not to accidentally drop the ring.
If you do, it won’t simply disappear. The item will appear on the ground with the name “The Precious”, making it possible to find and pick it back up.
Where Do You Take The Precious?
If you’ve already guessed the destination, you’re thinking in the right direction.
Take the ring to the volcano.
There is only one appropriate place in the entire map for getting rid of The Precious, and naturally, it’s inside the volcano.
Getting there is only half the problem, though. Once you arrive, you’ll discover that you can’t simply walk straight to the top.
There’s a blocked route that needs to be opened first.
Use Dynamite to Open the Volcano Path
When you reach the volcano, look for the dynamite you can use to blow open the blocked passage.
Use it to destroy the first wall and create a route toward the upper section.
Here’s a tip that can save you from having to backtrack:
Grab a second stick of dynamite before heading upward.
You’ll need another one later because there is a second wall blocking your route.
If you forgot to bring another stick, don’t worry. When you reach the second wall, simply make a U-turn and take the path on the right. You’ll find another dynamite box there, which lets you obtain what you need to destroy the wall.
It’s a small detail, but it can save you a frustrating trip back down.
Reach the Top of the Volcano
After opening the second passage, continue climbing upward.
Follow the path until you eventually reach the inside of the volcano. At this point, you’re finally at the place you’ve been carrying the ring toward.
There’s no complicated final puzzle here. The answer is much more straightforward.
You just need to do what anyone would probably expect when told to destroy an evil ring in a volcano.
Throw The Precious Into the Lava
Once you’re inside, take The Precious and drop it into the lava.
That’s it.
The ring is destroyed, the Hellfire secret is complete, and you’ve successfully finished the hidden quest.
After spending all that time getting the ring through the map, there’s something particularly satisfying about finally watching it disappear into the lava.
And yes, you’ll get the secret reward, including the new Joker.
The biggest thing I’d keep in mind is that the ring makes the journey more awkward than it initially looks. That black-and-white effect can make navigation harder, while enemies can still attack you normally.
So don’t assume picking up the ring gives you some kind of special protection.
And if you drop it, don’t start panicking. Look for “The Precious” on the ground and pick it back up.
For the volcano section, bringing two sticks of dynamite from the start is definitely the easier option. Otherwise, you’ll have to make that little detour to find the second dynamite box after reaching the next wall.
Once you know those few details, the secret is actually pretty manageable.
The developers definitely didn’t make this one obvious, though. If you were wandering around the new map wondering why there was a suspicious ring dungeon and a volcano sitting there doing absolutely nothing, well… now you know exactly what they’re for.
Good luck getting The Precious to the lava, and enjoy the Joker reward when you finally finish the Hellfire secret!
