Best Weapons to Use in Dungeon Settlers
The best weapon depends on the role we want a settler to perform.
For a straightforward melee fighter, Swords provide a balanced option with Basic Sword Attack and Sweeping Cleave.
For higher Physical Attack Power, Greatswords are extremely strong, but we need to remember the -20% Hit Chance penalty.
If we want access to Stun Charge, Clubs and Maces are the weapon category to consider.
For ranged physical combat, Bows give settlers access to Basic Bow Attack and Rapid Fire.
For magical combat, we can choose between three elemental branches:
- Fire Magic Staffs – Fire Missile
- Water Magic Staffs – Summon: Bubbling
- Nature Magic Staffs – Strange Seed
Finally, Shields are useful when we want additional Physical Resistance and Guard Chance, although they come with a significant Attack Speed penalty.
Final Thoughts
Dungeon Settlers has a large weapon selection, with 69 weapons and equipment options covering melee, ranged, magical, and defensive roles. The material we use plays a major role in how powerful our equipment becomes, so upgrading from Wood and Bone into Carapace, Copper, Bloodwood, Arcron, and Iron can make a big difference.
I would not simply look at the highest number when choosing equipment. Weapon abilities matter as well. A Greatsword may offer more Physical Attack Power, while a Club gives us Stun Charge and a Bow provides ranged Rapid Fire. Magic Staffs also let us choose between completely different elemental abilities.
As our settlement progresses, it is worth crafting equipment around the individual role of each settler instead of giving everyone the same weapon. That approach lets us take advantage of the different combat styles available and build a much more flexible group for the challenges ahead.
