If you’re playing Sorcerer in Deskrawl: Idle ARPG and want a build that can safely handle Inferno difficulty, the Lightning Storm / Storm Conduit setup is worth checking out. This build focuses on ranged damage, huge area attacks, crowd control, and keeping enemies away from you while Lightning Storm does most of the work.
In this guide, I’ll go through the complete Sorcerer setup, including the exact 60-point talent progression, legendary gear, active skills, Paragon priorities, and the best minions to use at different stages of the game. The goal is to make it easy for you to follow the build without having to figure out where every talent point should go.
The main idea is pretty simple: use Electrocute to generate mana and trigger Storm Conduit, then let Lightning Storm constantly destroy groups of enemies. The Stormcaller rune set takes this even further by adding splash damage and Lightning Balls, while Thunderstruck and Electrostatic give the build additional crowd control and damage scaling.
Deskrawl Idle ARPG Sorcerer Build Guide – Storm Conduit
The Sorcerer is built around ranged elemental damage, making it possible to deal with enemies without standing directly in the middle of a fight.
For Inferno difficulty, this Lightning Storm setup combines several mechanics that work together:
- Stormcaller Rune Set: Greatly improves Lightning Storm’s area damage and adds Lightning Balls.
- Thunderstruck: Gives Lightning Storm a chance to stun enemies.
- Static Charge: Applies Electrostatic stacks whenever you hit enemies with lightning.
- Current Transfer: Allows Electrostatic effects to spread when enemies die.
- Storm Conduit: Gives Electrocute a chance to automatically cast a full-power Lightning Storm for free.
The result is a build where your basic attack can continuously generate resources and trigger additional Lightning Storms while your main Stormcaller abilities clear groups of enemies.
Combat Talents
At level 60, you have exactly 60 talent points, so you need to plan your progression carefully.
The capstone talents at the important milestones are mutually exclusive, meaning you can only select one option at each capstone tier.
For this build, the final capstone choice is Storm Conduit.
Levels 1–5
Start with:
Arcane Insight — 5/10
This provides flat Intelligence, which directly improves your elemental damage.
Once you’ve spent five points, the next row becomes available.
Levels 6–10
Continue with:
Storm Executioner — 5/10
This provides additional Lightning Damage and bonus damage against Elite enemies.
You’ll now have 10 points invested.
Level 11
Take the first capstone:
Thunderstruck — 1/1
Thunderstruck gives Lightning Storm a chance to briefly stun enemies whenever a lightning bolt hits them.
This is particularly useful for keeping melee enemies away from your Sorcerer.
Levels 12–15
Put four more points into:
Storm Executioner — 9/10
This brings Storm Executioner up to 9/10.
Levels 16–20
Finish Storm Executioner:
Storm Executioner — 10/10
Then put four points into:
Electrical Shield — 4/8
This brings your total investment to 20 points.
Levels 21–29
Next, focus on:
Storm Mastery — 8/8
Maxing Storm Mastery improves your Lightning-focused setup.
Then add one more point to:
Electrical Shield — 5/8
You’ll now have 29 points invested.
Level 30
At the 30-point milestone, take:
Static Charge — 1/1
Every Lightning hit can now apply stacks of Electrostatic.
These stacks increase Lightning damage taken and can eventually spread to nearby enemies.
Levels 31–40
Next, max:
Enhance Electrocute: Mana Gain — 6/6
This improves the mana generation of your primary attack, helping you maintain your abilities.
Then invest four points into:
Arcane Reservoir — 4/8
You’ll now reach the 40-point milestone.
Levels 41–50
Put eight points into:
Lingering Storm — 8/8
This strengthens your Storm-based damage.
Then put two points into:
Current Transfer — 2/5
Current Transfer works together with Static Charge by allowing Electrostatic effects to spread between enemies.
Levels 51–59
Next, max:
Plasma Conduction — 8/8
Then add one more point to:
Current Transfer — 3/5
This puts you at 59 total points.
Level 60
Finally, take the final capstone:
Storm Conduit — 1/1
This is the centerpiece of the build.
Whenever you use Electrocute, you have a chance to immediately cast a full-power Lightning Storm without spending additional mana.
This means your basic attack is also constantly working as a trigger for your main damage ability.
Complete 60-Point Talent Setup
Your final talent distribution is:
- Arcane Insight — 5/10
- Storm Executioner — 10/10
- Thunderstruck — 1/1
- Electrical Shield — 5/8
- Storm Mastery — 8/8
- Static Charge — 1/1
- Arcane Reservoir — 4/8
- Enhance Electrocute: Mana Gain — 6/6
- Lingering Storm — 8/8
- Current Transfer — 3/5
- Plasma Conduction — 8/8
- Storm Conduit — 1/1
That gives you exactly 60 points.
Important Sorcerer Engine Detail
There’s an interesting interaction in the game’s internal skill data that’s worth knowing about.
The Sorcerer’s Strong Attack uses the internal ID SorcererStrongAttack, rather than the more general HeavyAttack identifier used by classes such as Warrior, Monk, and Hunter.
This means that certain gear effects or talents that specifically check for the HeavyAttack tag may not activate from the Sorcerer’s direct Strong Attack.
The good news is that this Lightning Storm build doesn’t depend on those effects.
Most of your damage comes from Lightning Storm itself, including the Storm Conduit procs triggered through Electrocute.
Best Legendary Gear
Once you’re moving into the endgame, the following equipment fits the Lightning Storm setup particularly well.
Stormcaller Gauntlets
These are the key gloves for the build.
They provide +150% Critical Damage with Lightning Storm, making them extremely valuable for your main source of damage.
Visage of the Undying
This helmet reduces all damage taken by 25%.
The extra mitigation is useful because the Sorcerer is naturally more vulnerable when enemies manage to get close.
Unyielding Cuirass
This chest piece gives you a very useful defensive safety net.
When your health drops below 30%, it grants invulnerability for 4 seconds, with a 25-second cooldown.
This can save you from unexpected boss attacks in Inferno.
Amber Skull Staff
Amber Skull Staff provides +100% Critical Strike Damage against enemies that are Rooted or Slowed.
This works particularly well with the crowd-control effects in the Lightning Storm setup.
Soulrender is an alternative if you want additional burst damage through its Soul Strike effect.
Stormguard Necklace
Taking damage has a chance to trigger an automatic Flame Lightning counterattack against the attacker.
This also works with the build’s Lightning and Plasma Conduction mechanics.
An alternative is Pendant of Vigor, which provides additional damage while you’re above 80% health.
Charged Ring
Charged Ring gives up to +50% bonus damage based on your current Mana percentage.
Because Electrocute provides strong mana recovery, you can keep your mana high and maintain a large portion of this bonus.
Ring of Dragonslayer
This ring increases Attack Speed by 35% when only one enemy remains alive.
That makes it especially useful against bosses and other single-target encounters because faster Electrocute attacks mean more opportunities to trigger Storm Conduit.
Battle Draught Belt
Drinking a health potion gives you +35% All Damage for 6 seconds.
You can use this as a burst window when you need to quickly push through a boss phase.
Boots of the Windcaller
These boots provide +50% Movement Speed for 4 seconds after killing an enemy.
The extra speed is useful for kiting enemy packs and quickly moving around maps.
Black Mist Equipment
Use Black Mist equipment for your Pants, Pauldrons, and Cloak.
The equipment provides multiple re-rollable affixes through the Workshop.
For this build, useful affixes include:
- Lightning Damage %
- Critical Strike Damage %
- Intelligence
- Max Health %
- Magic Resist
Stormcaller Rune Set
The six-piece Stormcaller set is the core rune setup for this build.
The bonuses are:
2 pieces: +50% Lightning Damage.
4 pieces: Lightning Storm strikes deal splash damage.
6 pieces: Lightning Storm strikes periodically create Lightning Balls.
This is what turns Lightning Storm from a normal area attack into a much larger clearing engine.
The additional Lightning Balls continuously hit enemies, helping you clear groups while also generating more opportunities for your other Lightning-based effects to activate.
Recommended Active Skills
For the Lightning Storm setup, use the following action bar.
Basic Attack: Electrocute
Electrocute — SorcererBasicAttack3
Electrocute is much more important than a normal Basic Attack in this build.
It generates mana and, more importantly, gives you opportunities to activate Storm Conduit.
Every successful Storm Conduit trigger gives you another full-power Lightning Storm without requiring the normal mana cost.
Strong Attack: Lightning Storm
Lightning Storm — SorcererStrongAttack3
Lightning Storm is your primary damage ability.
With the Stormcaller rune set equipped, it gains much stronger area coverage, splash damage, and additional Lightning Balls.
Special 1: Lightning Cloud
Lightning Cloud — SorcererSpecial6
Lightning Cloud creates a persistent electrified area that continues damaging enemies and helps build Electrostatic stacks.
It’s particularly useful when you’re fighting groups because enemies can remain inside the area while your other Lightning abilities continue attacking them.
Special 2: Fire Elemental
Fire Elemental — SorcererSpecial2
Fire Elemental provides additional area damage while also helping absorb enemy attention.
This can give your Sorcerer more breathing room against enemies trying to reach you.
Rune Set
Use:
Stormcaller — 6 pieces
The complete six-piece bonus is a major part of the build, so you want to work toward completing the set as you progress.
Alternative Basic Attacks
If you don’t want to use Electrocute, there are several other Basic Attacks available.
Flame Lightning
Flame Lightning — SorcererBasicAttack4
Deals both Lightning and Fire damage.
This can work if you want to build around two elemental damage types.
Fire Ball
Fire Ball — SorcererBasicAttack1
A straightforward single-target Fire projectile.
Ice Shards
Ice Shards — SorcererBasicAttack2
Fires multiple Ice projectiles in a cone.
These alternatives can be useful for experimenting with different Sorcerer setups, but they don’t have the same direct synergy with Storm Conduit as Electrocute.
Alternative Special Skills
Other Special skills include:
- Ice Nova — Sp1
- Ice Block — Sp3
- Fire Meteor — Sp4
- Flame Aura — Sp5
These abilities can be useful for other builds, but they don’t provide the same synergy with the Lightning-focused Stormcaller setup.
Paragon Priorities
Once you reach level 60, Paragon becomes an important part of your endgame progression.
Core
Focus on:
Intelligence
Intelligence is the primary attribute for the Sorcerer and improves your elemental damage.
Movement Speed is also useful, but the effective cap is +25%.
Offense
For offensive Paragon points, prioritize:
Critical Hit Chance > Critical Strike Damage
Critical Hit Chance helps you reach reliable critical hits, while Critical Strike Damage increases the damage of those critical hits.
Defense
For Inferno, focus on:
- Max Health %
- Armor
The Sorcerer can deal enormous damage from range, but you still need enough survivability to avoid being instantly killed when something reaches you.
Utility
Life on Hit becomes particularly useful for this build.
The Stormcaller set creates many additional Lightning hits through Lightning Balls, so you’re constantly attacking enemies.
That high number of hits can turn Life on Hit into a strong source of sustain.
Best Minions
Your minion choice can change as you progress through the game.
Early Game: Grey Forest Wolf
Grey Forest Wolf provides additional Attack Speed, which helps you cycle Electrocute faster.
Since Electrocute is the trigger for Storm Conduit, faster attacks can indirectly improve your Lightning Storm output.
Early Game Alternative: Ancient Oak Treant
If you need more survivability, Ancient Oak Treant provides healing and can make early progression safer.
Mid Game: Ice Hound
Ice Hound is a strong mid-game choice.
Its Capacitor ability provides an absorption shield and can stun enemies when the shield breaks.
This gives the Sorcerer another way to control enemies before they reach you.
Late Game: Lord of the Cinder
For late-game and boss encounters, Lord of the Cinder is the recommended offensive minion.
Ashen Wrath amplifies Critical Strike Damage against bosses, which works well with the high Critical Damage scaling of this build.
How the Lightning Storm Build Works
The combat loop is fairly simple once everything is set up.
Start attacking with Electrocute to generate mana and trigger Storm Conduit.
Whenever Storm Conduit activates, you get a free Lightning Storm.
Your regular Lightning Storm is already heavily enhanced by the Stormcaller rune set, giving you splash damage and Lightning Balls.
At the same time, Lightning Cloud helps build your Electrostatic stacks.
With Static Charge and Current Transfer, your Lightning attacks can make enemies take more Lightning damage and spread the effect when enemies die.
Thunderstruck adds another layer of crowd control by giving Lightning Storm a chance to stun enemies.
This means you can stay at range while your Lightning abilities continuously hit, stun, and spread through groups.
Inferno Sorcerer Achievement
If you’re trying to complete the Sorcerer-specific Inferno achievement, there is an important requirement to remember.
The achievement is:
INFERNO_SORCERER
You need to beat the game on the highest difficulty specifically as the Sorcerer.
Completing Inferno with another class does not count toward the Sorcerer achievement.
The Lightning Storm build is particularly suited to this because you can deal most of your damage from a safe distance while using Thunderstruck, Stormcaller, and your defensive gear to keep enemies away.
Final Lightning Storm Build
For a quick reference, the core setup is:
Basic Attack: Electrocute
Strong Attack: Lightning Storm
Specials: Lightning Cloud + Fire Elemental
Rune Set: 6-piece Stormcaller
Main Legendary: Stormcaller Gauntlets
Weapon: Amber Skull Staff
Defense: Visage of the Undying + Unyielding Cuirass
Rings: Charged Ring + Ring of Dragonslayer
Belt: Battle Draught Belt
Boots: Boots of the Windcaller
Main Paragon Stats: Intelligence, Critical Hit Chance, Critical Strike Damage, Max Health, and Life on Hit
Late-Game Minion: Lord of the Cinder
The biggest strength of this build is how many systems work together. Electrocute generates mana and triggers Storm Conduit, Storm Conduit creates free Lightning Storms, Stormcaller massively improves those storms, and Electrostatic plus Thunderstruck adds even more damage and crowd control.
Once the full setup is assembled, you can stay at range and let the Lightning Storm engine continuously clear enemies while you focus on positioning and surviving the tougher Inferno encounters.
