Festering Secret Quest Walkthrough
Step 1: Reach the Mandate Outpost
Head to the Mandate Outpost in Weeping Creek Valley. Look for Forge’s smithy and the heavily chained courtyard directly in front of it.
You’ll find gate guards near the entrance. Approach them to trigger the quest and begin investigating the sealed area.
Step 2: Obtain the Dread Axe
You cannot break the courtyard’s chains without the Dread Axe Phantom Edge.
To obtain it, you must defeat Peng Meng the Axemaster, who is located at the Mandate Outpost.
If you haven’t defeated him yet, progress through the Four Fierce Axes quest until you reach his boss encounter. Defeating Peng Meng rewards you with the Dread Axe.
Step 3: Break Open the Chained Courtyard
Once you have the Dread Axe, return to the Mandate Outpost.
Approach the chained courtyard and use the axe to destroy the chains blocking the entrance.
The courtyard contains several enemies, so prepare for a fight before entering. You can fight alongside one of the courtyard guards while clearing out the enemies inside.
Defeat all the enemies to continue the quest.
Step 4: Investigate the Maskwalker Incident
After clearing the courtyard, your next objective is to uncover how the Mandate disciples became Maskwalkers.
Return to the entrance of the Mandate Outpost and find the Swordsman Captain.
Speak to him to receive a Written Order. You’ll need to deliver this document to his lieutenant to progress further.
Step 5: Find the Swordsman Captain’s Lieutenant
The Swordsman Captain’s lieutenant is located at an old camp outside the Steel Tower.
Travel to the camp and look for the lieutenant. Give him the Written Order to continue the investigation.
The available quest information doesn’t provide further instructions after delivering the Written Order, so I won’t add unconfirmed steps or claim a specific ending for the quest.
Festering Secret Quest Rewards
