If you’ve jumped into the latest A Dusty Trip update, there are a few new things you’ll want to know about, especially if you’re interested in the new Alien Class.
This update doesn’t just add a new class, though. The developers have also changed how Bottle Caps work, made Night Vision much easier to use, and introduced a new enemy called Baby Mutants.
I went through the new features, tested the Alien Class weapon, and checked how the new Baby Mutants behave. Here’s everything you need to know.
A Dusty Trip Alien Class Guide – Baby Mutants & Alien Gun
The biggest addition in this update is the brand-new Alien Class.
The class comes with a weapon called the Prototype Alien Gun, which works differently from the usual weapons in the game.
Instead of simply firing immediately, you can charge the weapon before shooting. The longer you charge it, the more damage the shot deals.
This makes the weapon particularly interesting against regular Mutants.
Prototype Alien Gun Damage
The Prototype Alien Gun can deal some serious damage when fully charged.
Against a regular Mutant, a fully charged shot can one-shot it.
That’s pretty impressive, especially when you consider how much health some of the normal enemies have.
You don’t always have to fully charge the weapon either.
A half-charged shot takes roughly half of a regular Mutant’s health. So, if you’re in a situation where you don’t have enough time to fully charge the gun, you can still deal a decent amount of damage quickly.
The charge mechanic also gives you a little more flexibility during combat. You can decide whether it’s worth waiting for maximum damage or firing sooner to finish off an already weakened enemy.
Can the Alien Gun One-Shot Buff Mutants?
Unfortunately, the Prototype Alien Gun isn’t quite as ridiculous against Buff Mutants.
Even with a fully charged shot, you can’t take one down in a single hit.
Buff Mutants require around three shots to kill with the Alien Gun.
So while the Alien Class weapon is extremely strong against regular Mutants, you’ll still need to put in some work when dealing with their tougher variants.
If you’re surrounded by Buff Mutants, don’t assume you can simply charge up and delete them instantly.
Baby Mutants Have Been Added
The other major addition is the new Baby Mutant enemy.
And don’t let the name fool you.
These things are surprisingly dangerous.
The Baby Mutants are extremely fast, and that’s probably their biggest advantage.
They can move faster than the larger Mutants, meaning you can’t rely on simply outrunning them in the same way you might with some of the slower enemies.
Once a Baby Mutant starts chasing you, it can close the distance surprisingly quickly.
Baby Mutant Speed
The Baby Mutant’s speed is what makes it particularly annoying to deal with.
During testing, it was noticeably faster than a regular large Mutant.
So while the bigger Mutants might look more intimidating, the Baby Mutant can actually be more troublesome when you’re trying to escape.
You need to keep your distance and deal with them quickly rather than letting them get close.
Baby Mutants Don’t Give Up
Another thing that makes Baby Mutants dangerous is that they keep chasing you until they kill you.
They’re not enemies you can casually ignore while driving around or exploring.
Once they lock onto you, you need to either get away or take them out.
This makes them especially dangerous if you’re already dealing with other enemies at the same time.
Imagine trying to fight a large Mutant while a Baby Mutant is sprinting toward you from behind. That’s where things can get messy very quickly.
How Much Health Do Baby Mutants Have?
Despite their smaller size, Baby Mutants aren’t particularly weak.
They have similar health to the larger Mutants, which is a little ridiculous considering how much faster they are.
Thankfully, the Prototype Alien Gun can still kill them effectively.
So if you’re using the Alien Class, the Baby Mutants aren’t necessarily a huge problem as long as you can keep your aim on them.
Bottle Caps Have Been Reworked
The update also changes how Bottle Caps work.
Previously, when you sold items, a large number of individual Bottle Caps could spawn across the floor.
That could make collecting your money unnecessarily annoying, especially when the caps were scattered around.
Now, instead of having tons of individual caps appear, one object containing the caps will spawn.
You can then pick it up much more easily.
It’s a small change, but it’s definitely a nice quality-of-life improvement.
Night Vision Has Been Reworked
Night Vision has also received a useful change.
Previously, using Night Vision meant holding it in your hand. The new system allows you to wear Night Vision instead.
Once you equip it, the item disappears from your hand.
You’ll then see a new button near your health bar that allows you to toggle Night Vision on and off.
This is much more convenient because you don’t have to keep the Night Vision item equipped in your hand just to use it.
It also means you can keep your weapon ready while still having access to Night Vision.
A Dusty Trip Update Features at a Glance
Here’s a quick look at what’s been added or changed:
| Feature | What Changed |
|---|---|
| Alien Class | New class added |
| Prototype Alien Gun | Charge-based weapon |
| Regular Mutants | Can be one-shot with a full charge |
| Buff Mutants | Take around three shots |
| Baby Mutants | New fast enemy |
| Bottle Caps | Now collected through a single pickup object |
| Night Vision | Can now be worn and toggled |
The latest A Dusty Trip update is a pretty interesting one.
The Alien Class and Prototype Alien Gun are definitely the main attractions, with the fully charged weapon being powerful enough to one-shot regular Mutants. Buff Mutants are a different story, though, requiring around three shots.
Then you’ve got the new Baby Mutants, which might actually be more annoying than their larger counterparts because of how ridiculously fast they are.
The Bottle Cap changes and wearable Night Vision are also nice improvements that make the game a little more convenient.
If you’re planning to try the new Alien Class, definitely take some time to practice charging the Prototype Alien Gun. Once you get comfortable with the timing, being able to delete regular Mutants with a single charged shot can make dealing with them much easier.
