Anime Overseer may still be in Early Access, but players have already figured out which units are carrying teams through Story Mode, Nightmare stages, raids, and Infinity Express. While every Mythic has its uses, some clearly stand above the rest thanks to their damage, utility, or survivability.
If you’re wondering which units deserve your evolution materials, trait rerolls, and other hard-earned resources, this tier list should help you prioritize your roster.
Keep in mind that the game is still receiving balance updates, so rankings may change as new content and units are released.
Anime Overseer Tier List – Best Units for DPS, Tank
S Tier Units
These are currently the strongest units in the game. They’re worth investing in and remain useful throughout the endgame.
Brolu (LSSJ)
Role: DPS
Brolu is one of the highest damage dealers available in Anime Overseer. Once fully evolved and paired with the right trait, he melts bosses and elite enemies faster than almost anyone else.
Although unlocking him requires completing a lengthy questline, the payoff is absolutely worth it.
Strengths
- Incredible burst damage
- Excellent raid performance
- Dominates endgame content
- One of the strongest boss killers
Recommended Trait
- Boundless
Michael (Progenitor)
Role: Tank / DPS Hybrid
Michael combines survivability with excellent damage output.
His extra lives and summon mechanics allow him to stay alive much longer than most units, making him an excellent frontline option for difficult content.
Once you finish his evolution quest, he becomes one of the strongest units currently available.
Strengths
- Extremely durable
- Strong sustained DPS
- Great for Nightmare and raids
Recommended Trait
- Boundless
Joo (Maximum Meteor)
Role: Burn DPS
Joo has quickly become one of the strongest Mythic damage dealers thanks to his powerful burn effects.
With the proper evolution and trait, his damage remains competitive even against much rarer units.
If you’re building a damage-focused team, Joo deserves serious consideration.
Strengths
- Excellent boss damage
- Powerful burn effects
- Reliable throughout late-game
Recommended Traits
- Etheric
- Overseer
Freezer (Planet Conqueror)
Role: Support / Debuffer
Not every S Tier unit needs massive damage.
Freezer earns his spot because his debuffs dramatically increase the effectiveness of your entire team.
Even though his own DPS isn’t impressive, supporting your strongest units often leads to much faster clears.
Strengths
- Best debuffer currently available
- Great for raids
- Increases overall team damage
Recommended Trait
- Echo
AOSA (Destructive Death)
Role: Tank / DPS Hybrid
AOSA offers an excellent balance between offense and defense.
His dodge chance, lifesteal, and respectable damage allow him to stay alive while continuing to deal consistent DPS.
He’s especially useful for aggressive frontline strategies.
Strengths
- Strong survivability
- Reliable damage
- Excellent hybrid unit
Pain (Tendo)
Role: Support / Crowd Control
Pain specializes in stunning enemies and controlling large groups.
His crowd-control abilities become incredibly valuable during difficult raids where stopping enemies for a few seconds can completely change the outcome of a battle.
Strengths
- Powerful stuns
- Excellent raid support
- Strong utility
Recommended Trait
- Echo
A Tier Units
These units are very strong and can comfortably carry players through most content.
While they may not quite reach S Tier, they’re absolutely worth building.
Naoyma (24 FPS)
One of the best beginner units in Anime Overseer.
His incredible attack speed makes Story progression much smoother, and he remains useful long after the early game.
Best Trait
- Overclock
Rangoka (Ablaze)
Rangoka offers a balanced combination of speed and damage.
Although he doesn’t match the raw damage of top-tier DPS units, he’s dependable in nearly every game mode.
Best Trait
- Etheric
Choooo (Supernova)
Choooo specializes in damage-over-time effects.
His burn damage is excellent, although he generally plays a supporting role beside stronger primary DPS units like Joo.
He performs well but requires significant investment.
Nazuka (Exploding Blood)
Nazuka is one of the strongest defensive characters available.
Unlike many tanks, she also contributes respectable damage, making her useful even outside dedicated tank roles.
Best Trait
- Bless
Enmu (Blissful Dream)
Enmu provides solid support for most team compositions.
While his crowd-control abilities aren’t as strong as Pain’s, he’s still a valuable addition for players lacking stronger support options.
Recommended Traits
- Echo
- Marksman
Frier (Evolved)
Unlocked through the Season 1 Battle Pass, Frier becomes a reliable boss killer after evolving.
His only real weakness is slower attack speed compared to higher-ranked DPS units.
Best Trait
- Overclock
B Tier Units
These units perform well early on but usually get replaced once stronger options become available.
Odo (Kamui)
Odo shines during the early Story chapters thanks to his speed.
Unfortunately, his low damage causes him to fall behind later in the game.
He’s useful while progressing but shouldn’t be a long-term investment.
Den (Rapsidity)
Den attacks extremely quickly, making him useful against shields and weaker enemies.
However, his lower overall damage keeps him below many other Mythics.
He works best as a cleanup unit placed near the end of the path.
Best Trait
- Overclock
Muki (Singularity)
Muki functions primarily as a support character.
His utility is respectable, but his personal damage isn’t strong enough to justify heavy investment compared to higher-tier support units.
He’s perfectly usable if you already have him, but he isn’t a priority.

Best Traits to Roll
If you’re using Trait Rerolls, these are generally the strongest options:
- Boundless – Best for high-end DPS and hybrid units.
- Overclock – Great for increasing attack speed, especially on beginner units.
- Etheric – Excellent for damage-focused characters.
- Overseer – Strong overall offensive boost.
- Echo – Ideal for support and crowd-control units.
- Bless – Useful for defensive characters and tanks.
- Marksman – Solid alternative for certain support builds.
Even though Anime Overseer is still in Early Access, a clear meta is already starting to emerge. Units like Brolu, Michael, and Joo dominate difficult content thanks to their exceptional damage and versatility, while support characters such as Freezer and Pain prove that utility can be just as valuable as raw DPS.
That said, don’t feel like you need every S Tier unit immediately. Several A Tier characters, especially Naoyma, are more than capable of carrying you through Story Mode and much of the mid-game. Focus on building a balanced team, invest your evolution materials carefully, and you’ll be well-prepared as new updates expand the game’s roster.
