Another update has arrived in A Universal Time, and this one adds three brand-new abilities for players to chase. Whether you’re interested in the flashy Insect Breathing moveset, the versatile Rokushiki fighting style, or the highly sought-after Hie fruit, there’s plenty of new content to grind.
After spending time testing each addition and figuring out the fastest way to unlock them, here’s everything you need to know.
Insect Breathing
Insect Breathing is currently available through Early Access and can be purchased from the Premium Shop.
Unlike the other two abilities added in this update, there isn’t a quest chain or boss grind attached to it. If you purchase it, you’ll immediately gain access to the moveset.
The ability features fast attacks, flashy animations, and effects inspired by the Insect Breathing style from Demon Slayer. Some moves currently feel slightly inconsistent, especially when targeting NPCs, but they work much better against players.
Since it is an Early Access ability, expect additional fixes and balancing changes in future updates.
How to Obtain Insect Breathing
- Open the Premium Shop
- Purchase Insect Breathing
- Equip and use the ability immediately
At the moment, this is the quickest new ability to unlock, assuming you’re willing to spend Robux.
Rokushiki
Rokushiki is by far the easiest free ability introduced in this update.
Instead of relying on boss drops or rare spawns, all you need is enough UShards and a trip to the Rokushiki Trainer NPC.
The entire unlock process can be completed within minutes if you’ve already been saving currency.
Requirements
- 500,000 UShards
- Standless character
- Rokushiki Manual
- Talk to the Rokushiki Trainer NPC
Once the requirements are met, simply interact with the trainer and learn the ability.
Compared to some of AUT’s more complicated grinds, this one is refreshingly straightforward.
Fastest Way to Get UShards
If you’re short on UShards, one of the fastest methods is farming valuable items and selling them through the Black Market NPC.
Many players already have unused items sitting in storage that can be converted into quick currency.
Before spending hours farming, check your inventory first.
Is Rokushiki Worth Getting?
Absolutely.
Since the unlock requirements are relatively simple, Rokushiki offers excellent value for the effort required.
The moves are flashy, mobile, and fun to use, making it one of the easiest recommendations from this update.
Hie
Hie is easily the most frustrating unlock in the update.
Unlike Rokushiki, there’s no guaranteed path to obtaining it quickly.
The fruit can either be found naturally in the world or obtained through Whitebeard drops.
Unfortunately, both methods involve a significant amount of luck.
Hie Requirements
You can obtain Hie through:
- Finding the fruit on the ground
- Defeating Whitebeard
While that sounds simple, the actual grind is much more difficult.
Whitebeard Farming
Whitebeard only spawns every three hours in real-world time.
That’s already a long wait, but the problem doesn’t stop there.
Even after defeating him, the boss only has a 75% chance to drop a random fruit.
Since multiple fruits exist in the game, getting Hie specifically can take several attempts.
You could spend hours waiting for spawns and still walk away with the wrong fruit.
Whitebeard Tips
- Join active servers before spawn times
- Keep track of spawn schedules
- Prepare your strongest build beforehand
- Server hop after kills if possible
- Team up with other players to secure kills faster
Patience is the biggest requirement for this grind.
Trading for Hie
After hours of server hopping, many players eventually decide to trade for Hie instead.
Depending on the current market, this can actually save a massive amount of time.
The value of Hie will fluctuate as more players obtain it, but during the early days of the update, expect it to be expensive.
If you have valuable event items, limiteds, or high-demand skins, trading may end up being the fastest route.
Which New Ability Should You Get First?
If your goal is efficiency, I would recommend unlocking them in this order:
1. Rokushiki
Rokushiki is cheap, straightforward, and guaranteed once you meet the requirements.
2. Insect Breathing
If you’re willing to spend Robux, Insect Breathing is instantly available and requires no farming.
3. Hie
Hie is powerful and highly desirable, but the grind can become extremely time-consuming due to Whitebeard’s spawn timer and random fruit drops.
Unless you’re incredibly lucky, expect this to be the longest unlock in the update.
This update gives AUT players three very different progression paths.
Rokushiki is the easy grind, Insect Breathing is the premium shortcut, and Hie is the patience test.
If you’re looking for the fastest free unlock, go for Rokushiki immediately. If you’re chasing Hie, be prepared for long waits, server hopping, and plenty of RNG. And if you simply want to start using one of the new abilities right away, Insect Breathing lets you jump straight into the action.
