Beast of Reincarnation Weapon Guide – Locations, Katana

Weapons in Beast of Reincarnation aren’t just a steady progression from low Attack to high Attack. Most of Emma’s katanas have their own effect, and those effects can make switching weapons surprisingly useful when you’re struggling against a particular enemy, elite encounter, or Nushi.

Some blades add elemental buildup such as Poison, Acid, Flame, or Lightning. Others improve critical hits, recover HP, increase knockback, or even apply unusual effects such as Weaken and Puppet. Because of that, the katana with the highest-looking numbers isn’t automatically the best choice for every fight.

There are 21 katanas to obtain across the game, including Emma’s starting weapons and one additional sword exclusive to New Game+. Some are given to you automatically, others are purchased from merchants, and a few require optional exploration.

This guide covers every katana location in progression order, along with its Attack and unique weapon effect so you can quickly work out which ones you’re still missing.

Beast of Reincarnation Weapon Guide – Locations, Katana

Here’s the complete katana checklist in the same general order they appear in the equipment menu:

Weapon Attack Main Effect
Mechblade (Standard) 27 Improves Attack 3 damage
Purifier Blade 27 Reduces Stagger after taking damage
First Moon 27 Applies Weaken
Cirrus Sword 27 Increases Emma and Koo’s damage
Mechblade (Light) 27 Improves Attack 2 damage
Mechblade (Heavy) 27 Improves Attack 4 damage
Thunderwave Sword 21 Calls down Lightning
Purity 27 Recovers HP based on damage dealt
Bell Sword 27 Increases knockback
Hunter’s Sword 27 Adds Poison buildup
Sunrise Sword 21 Adds Flame attacks
Resonance Sword 27 Chance to turn enemies into Puppets
Hazebringer 27 Adds Acid buildup
Shark Cutter 27 Increases Critical Chance
Fall Thunder 27 Adds Lightning buildup
Winterwake 21 Calls down flaming Lightning
Spring Storm 21 Adds Drench buildup
Silverlight 27 Increases Slash damage
Black Blossom 21 Calls down Poison Lightning
Camellia 21 Adds Lightning to swings
Kanzashi 27 Creates an HP-restoring barrier

You’ll need to obtain the available weapons if you’re working toward the Blade Collector achievement/trophy.

There’s also another achievement tied to the weapon system:

Blade Enthusiast requires you to upgrade all of the weapons.

That means collecting them is only the first half of the job if you’re going for full completion.

How Weapons Work in Beast of Reincarnation

Emma primarily fights using katanas, but she also carries a bow and crossbow.

Unlike the large selection of swords, however, there aren’t multiple bows and crossbows scattered around the world to collect. You continue using the starting ranged weapons and improve them through upgrades.

That’s why weapon collecting is essentially about finding all of Emma’s katanas.

Each katana has its own effect, and many of these bonuses activate as Emma attacks.

Some effects provide straightforward damage improvements, while others apply elemental buildup or offer utility.

This makes your weapon choice particularly important when you know what an enemy is vulnerable to.

Instead of sticking with one katana throughout the entire game, check your collection whenever you’re having trouble with a difficult encounter. You may already own a weapon that works much better against that particular enemy.

Starting Weapons

Emma begins the game with two weapons available.

Mechblade (Standard)

Attack: 27

Mech Slash: Medium: Increases the damage of Attack 3 by 1.03x for 5 seconds.

The Mechblade (Standard) is one of Emma’s initial weapons, so there’s nothing you need to do to unlock it.

Its effect specifically improves the third attack in Emma’s sequence.

Purifier Blade

Attack: 27

Purifier Soul: Reduces Stagger by 1 for 5 seconds after Emma takes damage.

The Purifier Blade is also available from the beginning.

Instead of focusing entirely on damage, its effect gives Emma some additional stability after she’s hit.

It’s a straightforward defensive option while you’re still learning enemy attack patterns and getting comfortable with the combat system.

Ogouchi Buffer Zone Weapon Locations

The Ogouchi Buffer Zone contains Mechblade (Light) and Cirrus Sword.

Mechblade (Light) Location

Attack: 27

Mech Slash: Light: Increases the damage of Attack 2 by 1.03x for 5 seconds.

The Ogouchi Buffer Zone is one of the most open areas in the game, meaning you can technically go after the Mechblade (Light) fairly early.

It’s easier to find once your main objective changes to locating the three keys, though, because the story will naturally start directing you toward Tailwater Village.

Activate the:

Tailwater Village Camp

From there, head west according to the in-game map.

You should eventually see a large mechanical structure in the distance.

That’s the Ruined Tower.

Head toward it and begin climbing.

The Mechblade (Light) is waiting at the top, but there’s an elite enemy guarding it, so be ready for a fight.

Defeat the elite and collect the sword.

If you’re having trouble locating the Ruined Tower, speak with one of the nearby Keeper Golems and ask:

“Where can I find weapons?”

The Golem will point you toward the correct location.

Cirrus Sword Location

Attack: 27

Clear Skies: Increases Emma’s damage by 1.02x and Koo’s damage by 1.02x for 5 seconds.

The Cirrus Sword is extremely difficult to miss because the Retired Gatekeeper strongly encourages you to take it.

You can technically leave without picking it up, however.

If that happened, return to:

Nushi’s Lair: Gate Approach Camp

The Cirrus Sword can be found beside the Camp.

Its effect benefits both Emma and Koo at the same time, making it a useful general-purpose weapon rather than one built around a particular elemental weakness.

Ancient Civilization Zone Weapon Locations

The Ancient Civilization Zone contains Purity, Mechblade (Heavy), and Thunderwave Sword.

Purity Location

Attack: 27

Vampiric Blade: Emma recovers HP equal to 3.5% of damage dealt for 5 seconds.

The Purity katana is purchased rather than found inside a chest or optional area.

Look for the Ancient Golem merchant who tells you where the generators are located.

You’ll find him south of the Raging River Camp.

Speak with him again and browse his shop to purchase Purity using Amber.

If you don’t have enough Amber when you first encounter him, don’t worry.

Brad will later sell Purity aboard the Cleanse Walker, so you can buy it there instead.

Purity is particularly interesting because of its healing effect. Recovering HP based on damage dealt can provide extra sustain during aggressive play, making it worth experimenting with even if you’ve already found several other 27-Attack weapons.

Mechblade (Heavy) Location

Attack: 27

Mech Slash: Heavy: Increases the damage of Attack 4 by 1.03x for 5 seconds.

You’ll find the Mechblade (Heavy) while progressing through the Reservoir.

Eventually, you’ll battle the Salamandrine Nushi.

After you win the encounter, the boss escapes through a huge opening.

The weapon is on the opposite side of that hole.

Use Emma’s hair traversal ability to cross the gap and collect the Mechblade (Heavy).

It’s easy enough to grab once you know it’s there, so take a moment to check the other side before continuing after the boss.

Thunderwave Sword

Attack: 21

Tempest: Each slash calls down Lightning on nearby enemies.

Lightning Buildup: +3
Effect Duration: 5 seconds

You don’t need to search for the Thunderwave Sword.

It’s automatically obtained alongside the Lightning Stone as you progress.

Its base Attack is lower than many of Emma’s 27-Attack katanas, but its Lightning effect is the real reason to use it.

The Great Wall Terraces Weapon Locations

Two more weapons become available in The Great Wall Terraces: Bell Sword and Hunter’s Sword.

Bell Sword Location

Attack: 27

Crushing Blade: Increases Emma’s knockback by 1.03x for 5 seconds, making enemies easier to break.

The Bell Sword is sold by the Wandering Merchant near:

Mountain Plaza: Forefront Camp

Purchase it using Amber.

As with several merchant weapons, you don’t have to buy it immediately.

Brad will begin selling Bell Sword aboard the Cleanse Walker in later chapters, so you can safely continue if you’re short on currency.

The increased knockback makes this sword useful if your playstyle revolves around breaking enemies rather than applying elemental status effects.

Hunter’s Sword Location

Attack: 27

Envenomed: Adds Poison to the blade.

Poison Buildup: +5
Effect Duration: 5 seconds

The Hunter’s Sword is located beside:

Great Forest: Entrance Camp

However, there’s an additional requirement before you can simply grab it.

You first need to listen to the Storyteller Golem.

Once you’ve done that, check the nearby katana stand and collect the Hunter’s Sword.

Its Poison buildup gives you another option for exploiting enemies vulnerable to Poison.

Pilgrim’s Zone Weapon Location

There’s one new weapon to collect in Pilgrim’s Zone.

Sunrise Sword Location

Attack: 21

Light of Dawn: Each swing releases Flame.

Blade Power: Slash Damage 5%
Flame Buildup: 3
Effect Duration: 5 seconds

After activating:

Scorched Grasslands Camp

Continue forward.

You’ll soon find several broken Golems scattered around patches of burning ground.

The Sunrise Sword is located directly among them, sitting in one of the burning areas.

Despite having only 21 Attack, its ability allows each swing to produce Flame damage and buildup, making the sword much more about elemental pressure than raw Attack.

Matsukawa Zone Weapon Locations

Two weapons are available in the Matsukawa Zone: Resonance Sword and Hazebringer.

Resonance Sword Location

Attack: 27

Puppet’s Call: Each slash has a 2% chance to turn an enemy into a Puppet.

Effect Duration: 5 seconds

The effect does not work against strong enemies or Nushi.

While travelling toward Matsukawa Colony, you’ll reach a cave with a conveniently named Camp:

Cave Entrance

Head inside.

You’ll need to cross an area of burning ground before encountering three strong malefacts.

Defeat all three.

Once the fight is over, look near the mural to find the Resonance Sword.

Its Puppet effect is unusual compared with most weapons, although its restriction against stronger enemies and Nushi means you won’t be using it to trivialize major boss fights.

Hazebringer Location

Attack: 27

Caustic Touch: Adds Acid to the blade.

Acid Buildup: +5
Effect Duration: 5 seconds

Progress until you’ve reached Matsukawa Colony.

From:

Upper Matsukawa Colony (Front) Camp

follow the main objective directly ahead and use the elevator to descend.

Once you reach the lower area, you’ll find several cages and documents.

Search the cages carefully.

The Hazebringer is embedded in a malefact inside one of them.

Collect it to add an Acid-focused katana to your arsenal.

Fuji Frontier Zone Weapon Location

There’s one katana to find in the Fuji Frontier Zone.

Shark Cutter Location

Attack: 27

Spiral Critical: When Emma and Koo attack, Critical Chance increases by 7% for 5 seconds.

Travel to:

Bridge Control Room: Approach Camp

The Shark Cutter is nearby, positioned in front of a colored wooden board.

There’s no complicated puzzle or optional route involved.

Its Critical Chance bonus affects attacks from both Emma and Koo, making Shark Cutter another strong general-purpose option rather than a weapon tied to one specific element.

Giant Tree Zone Weapon Locations

The Giant Tree Zone contains Fall Thunder and First Moon.

Fall Thunder is obtained automatically.

First Moon requires a small optional quest-like detour.

Fall Thunder

Attack: 27

Lightning Edge: Charges the blade with Lightning.

Lightning Buildup: 5
Effect Duration: 5 seconds

You don’t need to search for Fall Thunder.

The sword is automatically obtained alongside the Giant Tree Key.

Its effect adds Lightning buildup directly to Emma’s blade, making it another option for enemies susceptible to Lightning.

First Moon Location

Attack: 27

Ravenous Eclipse: Each strike applies Weaken to an enemy, up to a maximum of 2 stacks.

Effect Duration: 5 seconds

Getting the First Moon is more involved than simply opening a Strongbox.

You’ll need to complete what is essentially one of Beast of Reincarnation’s few side-quest-style activities.

First, continue the main story until you’ve defeated Corvus.

Doing so gives you:

  • Card Key (Line One)
  • Light Box

It doesn’t matter whether you choose to look inside the Light Box.

Once you have both items, fast travel to:

Cableway – Line 1: Base Station Camp

Head north toward the area where you previously fought several malefacts.

You’ll see a tower.

Don’t climb it.

Instead, continue straight ahead along the ground.

Eventually, you’ll discover:

Cableway – Line 0: Base Station Camp

There’s another tower directly in front of this Camp.

Climb this one.

Give the Light Box to the Golem

At the top of the tower, you’ll meet a friendly Golem.

Speak with him.

He’ll ask you to retrieve an item that was swallowed by the Nushi.

That item is the Light Box you received from defeating Corvus, meaning you’ve already completed the difficult part if you followed the story first.

Hand over the Light Box.

The Golem will then ask whether you looked inside it.

Your response doesn’t change the reward.

If you’d like to hear more of his backstory, tell him that you did look inside.

Finish the conversation and the Golem will give you the First Moon.

Its ability to stack Weaken makes it one of the more distinctive weapons in Emma’s collection.

Crater Zone Weapon Locations

The Crater Zone contains Spring Storm and Winterwake.

Spring Storm Location

Attack: 21

Turbulence: Each swing releases water.

Blade Power: Slash Damage 5%
Drench Buildup: 20
Effect Duration: 5 seconds

Progress until you’ve activated:

Lake Base: Outer Wall Camp

Continue forward and you’ll face a Purifier.

After the encounter, cross the metal corridor until you reach a control panel.

Look around the panel.

The Spring Storm is nearby, next to a sleepy Golem.

A Keeper Golem can also point you toward the weapon, but you shouldn’t need the extra directions once you’ve reached the control panel.

Spring Storm is particularly notable for applying Drench buildup, giving it a very different elemental role from the Flame, Poison, Acid, and Lightning swords you’ve collected earlier.

Winterwake Location

Attack: 21

Vermillion: Each slash calls down flaming Lightning on nearby enemies.

Lightning’s Flame Buildup: 3
Effect Duration: 5 seconds

The Winterwake is sold by the Wandering Merchant near:

Nushi’s Lair Entrance Camp

Purchase it with Amber.

If you don’t buy it immediately, Winterwake will also become available from the merchant aboard the Cleanse Walker in later chapters.

Its effect combines Flame with the Lightning-style attacks seen on some of Emma’s other elemental swords.

Inukami River Zone Weapon Location

There’s one katana available in the Inukami River Zone.

Silverlight Location

Attack: 27

Flurry: Increases Slash Damage by 2.5% for 5 seconds.

Fast travel to:

Ruined Plaza Camp

If you haven’t unlocked that Camp, you can instead start from:

Nushi’s Lair Entrance Camp

The Silverlight is found around the middle of the map in a circular area.

An easy way to recognize the location is by looking upward: the Cableways run directly over it.

Once you’re in the circular area beneath the Cableways, collect Silverlight.

Its straightforward Slash Damage increase makes it useful if you’d rather boost normal sword damage instead of building around elemental effects.

The Capital Weapon Locations

The Capital gives you Black Blossom and Camellia.

Black Blossom

Attack: 21

Poison Storm: Each slash calls down Poison Lightning on nearby enemies.

Lightning’s Poison Buildup: 10
Effect Duration: 5 seconds

There’s no collectible hunt involved here.

The Black Blossom is automatically obtained at the beginning of the chapter.

Its Poison Lightning effect provides another hybrid elemental option for Emma.

Camellia Location

Attack: 21

Spring Thunder: Each swing crackles with Lightning.

Blade Power: Slash Damage 5%
Lightning Buildup: 10
Effect Duration: 5 seconds

The Camellia becomes available after defeating the relevant story boss in The Capital.

Once the fight is complete, return to the Cleanse Walker.

You’ll find Camellia waiting there.

Its Lightning buildup of 10 makes it another strong elemental option when fighting enemies vulnerable to Lightning.

New Game+ Weapon

One final katana is tied specifically to New Game+.

Kanzashi

Attack: 27

Robes of Reincarnation: Creates a rejuvenating light barrier that gradually restores HP.

Effect Duration: 3 seconds

You don’t need to complete another optional dungeon or defeat a hidden boss for this one.

Start Chapter 1 in New Game+, and the Kanzashi becomes yours.

Its ability creates a healing barrier that gradually restores Emma’s HP, giving the weapon a defensive and sustain-focused identity rather than simply increasing damage.

How to Unlock Blade Collector

The Blade Collector achievement/trophy is tied to collecting the available weapons in Beast of Reincarnation.

Most weapons will naturally come your way through story progression, but several can be missed if you’re not exploring thoroughly or checking merchant inventories.

If Blade Collector hasn’t unlocked, I’d check the optional weapons first:

  • Mechblade (Light)
  • Purity
  • Bell Sword
  • Hunter’s Sword
  • Resonance Sword
  • Hazebringer
  • Shark Cutter
  • First Moon
  • Spring Storm
  • Winterwake
  • Silverlight

First Moon is particularly worth checking because its Cableway route and Light Box interaction are much easier to skip than weapons sitting beside Camps.

Merchant weapons are another common problem. Check Brad aboard the Cleanse Walker before travelling back through old zones, as he may already sell whichever sword you skipped.

How to Unlock Blade Enthusiast

Collecting every weapon isn’t the end of the weapon-related completion requirements.

The Blade Enthusiast achievement/trophy requires you to upgrade all weapons.

Weapon upgrades are performed through the Workbench aboard the Cleanse Walker and require Amber.

Because you’re upgrading an entire collection rather than one favorite sword, this can become expensive.

If you’re aiming for Blade Enthusiast, avoid wasting Amber unnecessarily once you’re happy with your main build. You’ll want a healthy supply available to finish upgrading weapons you might not normally use.
