Crafting works a little differently in Breathedge 2 compared with a traditional survival game. Instead of simply opening a recipe menu filled with dozens of fixed formulas, you build equipment through DIY modules, materials, and specialized workstations.
Since Breathedge 2 is still in Early Access, the complete crafting system hasn’t been documented yet. I’ve put together the recipes and crafting formulas that are currently confirmed on the August 31, 2026 Early Access build, while keeping anything that still needs verification separate.
This guide covers the seven known DIY module categories, confirmed material combinations, useful early-game crafting priorities, and the recipes that we still don’t have reliable numbers for.
Breathedge 2 Recipes – All Confirmed Crafting Formulas
Breathedge 2 essentially splits crafting into two layers.
The first is the material layer. Basic tools can be created directly from raw materials. The crowbar is the main example given for the first DIY prototype, and you begin with a free toolbox and your own garage, so you aren’t forced to hunt down a blueprint just to get started.
The second layer is the DIY module system. More advanced equipment and upgrades require dedicated workstations. Instead of building everything as a single traditional recipe, you create DIY modules and install them into your equipment.
There are currently seven known module categories:
- Sharp
- Impact
- Utility
- Protective
- Active
- Capacity
- Biological
Each category can have different rarity and quality tiers, which form a major part of the game’s progression.
Confirmed Breathedge 2 Recipes
The following formulas are the ones currently backed by either official developer information or measurements from the Early Access build.
| Crafting Result | Materials | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| First tool | 2 Metal | Used to smash containers and panels |
| Refined Metal | 4 Metal | Used for deeper industrial builds and gear |
| Purified Oxygen | 2 Oxyworm + 1 Metal + 1 Ice | Restores roughly 120 oxygen |
| Public Oxygen Station | 3 Metal + 2 Electronics + 1 Wire + 3 Electrical Tape | Repairs the station and turns it into an oxygen refill point |
| Backpack | 4 Titanium | Increases carry capacity from 110 to 185 |
| Clean drinking water | Kettle + Capacity module + Protective module | Purifies water so it can be safely consumed |
| Cold-proof suit fill | 2 Foam arms + 2 Cardboard legs + Knitted Teddy Bear chest | Provides 106 Cold Protection |
Because the game is still in Early Access, some of these values could change with future patches.
First Tool Recipe
Your first basic tool can be created using:
2 Metal
This is based on the official DIY prototype example and Early Access player testing.
The first tool is important because it lets you smash containers and panels, which opens up many of the early material sources you’ll need for further crafting.
Refined Metal Recipe
The currently confirmed formula for Refined Metal is:
4 Metal → 1 Refined Metal
Refined Metal is used for more advanced industrial construction and gear, although the complete higher-tier crafting tree has not yet been documented.
Purified Oxygen Recipe
Once you start finding Oxyworms, you can use them to make Purified Oxygen.
The confirmed formula is:
2 Oxyworms + 1 Metal + 1 Ice → Purified Oxygen
A single craft restores approximately 120 oxygen.
This is particularly useful early on because your starting suit has roughly 600 oxygen capacity, and longer trips away from safe areas can quickly drain your supply.
Public Oxygen Station Repair Recipe
You can also turn the Public Oxygen Station into a useful refill point by repairing it.
You’ll need:
- 3 Metal
- 2 Electronics
- 1 Wire
- 3 Electrical Tape
Once repaired, the station provides a permanent oxygen refill point, making it especially useful if you’re repeatedly exploring the surrounding area.
Backpack Recipe
The Backpack requires:
4 Titanium
The upgrade increases your carry capacity from 110 to 185, giving you an additional 75 inventory capacity.
Titanium comes from the spiked-ball nodes found on drifting debris, so I recommend holding onto it rather than spending it immediately if you’re working toward the Backpack.
Clean Drinking Water
Water purification works through the kettle rather than a simple material combination.
The confirmed setup uses:
- Kettle
- Capacity module
- Protective module as the filter
This makes the water safe to drink.
The exact material requirements for producing the relevant modules have not yet been fully confirmed, so I wouldn’t rely on older recipe lists for this one.
Cold-Proof Suit Recipe
You’ll eventually need enough Cold Protection to pass the 100 Cold Protection requirement.
The currently measured setup uses:
- 2 Foam for the arms, providing +22 Cold Protection each
- 2 Cardboard for the legs, providing +14 Cold Protection each
- 1 Knitted Teddy Bear for the chest, providing +34 Cold Protection
Together, this provides 106 Cold Protection, which is enough to clear the 100-point requirement.
One important thing to remember is that simply being able to fly into a cold area isn’t necessarily enough for the associated quest or progression check. You need to meet the required protection value.
The Seven DIY Module Types
The DIY system currently has seven known module categories.
Sharp
Sharp is one of the seven named DIY module categories.
Its exact crafting formula and which harvesting or repair actions consume it have not yet been confirmed.
Impact
Impact is another known module type.
Its exact purpose and recipe are still unclear. It has not yet been confirmed whether actions such as drilling rely on Impact or Utility modules.
Utility
Utility is the third known category.
The exact workstations that produce Utility modules and their crafting requirements are still being investigated.
Protective
Protective modules are currently the most clearly documented category.
They can be used for suit torso, arm and leg slots and provide different protection values against cold, heat and radiation.
Protective modules are also involved in the kettle’s water-filter setup.
The exact set bonuses, thresholds and module wear values are still unconfirmed.
Active
Active is another named DIY module category.
The exact recipes haven’t been confirmed, including whether this category is used for powered equipment such as thrusters.
Capacity
Capacity modules are used to increase equipment capacity.
The kettle is specifically mentioned as using a Capacity module in the official crafting example, but the complete list of container and tank upgrades is not yet available.
Biological
Biological is the final known module category.
Its full purpose remains unclear. More information is still needed about its role in food processing and other biological crafting systems.
Breathedge 2 Crafting Materials
Many materials in Breathedge 2 aren’t simply floating around as obvious ore markers. Instead, you’ll often need to identify an object and use the correct interaction on it.
The main harvesting actions include Break, Cut, Unscrew, Pull and Drill.
Here are the materials currently connected to confirmed or pending recipes:
| Material | Where It Comes From | Current Use |
|---|---|---|
| Metal | Orange wreckage and pried containers | First tool, Refined Metal, Purified Oxygen, oxygen station |
| Refined Metal | Deep industrial equipment and containers | Higher-tier gear, pending |
| Electronics | Washing machines and electronic debris | Public Oxygen Station |
| Wire | Distribution panels using a probe | Public Oxygen Station |
| Electrical Tape | Tape-covered pipe runs using Cut | Public Oxygen Station |
| Ice | Floating ice chunks | Purified Oxygen and oxygen terminal |
| Oxyworm | Collected live; nests also refill oxygen | Purified Oxygen |
| Titanium | Spiked-ball nodes on drifting debris | Backpack |
| Aluminum | Drilled from ore deposits | Recipes pending |
| Foam | Yellow station insulation | Cold protection |
| Cardboard | Common early-game material | Cold protection |
| Plastic | Early station equipment and broken fittings | Recipes pending |
| Rubber | Dark industrial pads and panels | Recipes pending |
| Light Bulbs | Lamp fittings | Recipes pending |
The important thing here is to use the correct tool action whenever possible. Breaking everything you see isn’t always the best approach, because the intended harvesting action can save you module wear.
What Should You Craft First?
If you’re still in Chapter 1, I’d prioritize your resources in roughly this order.
1. Make Your First Tool
Start with the 2 Metal first tool.
This opens up containers and panels, which are important sources of materials during the early game.
2. Stock Up on Purified Oxygen
Once Oxyworms become available, the 2 Oxyworm + 1 Metal + 1 Ice recipe gives you a reliable oxygen option.
Each craft restores roughly 120 oxygen.
3. Save Titanium for the Backpack
The Backpack only costs 4 Titanium and increases your capacity by 75.
Since Titanium comes from specific spiked nodes, it’s worth saving it instead of spending it on something whose recipe you haven’t confirmed yet.
4. Prepare for the Cold Zone
When you reach the 100 Cold Protection requirement, use your Protective module setup to reach at least that value.
The currently confirmed combination reaches 106 Cold Protection.
5. Repair the Public Oxygen Station
If you’re constantly running out of oxygen while exploring, repairing the station can be a worthwhile investment.
The repair costs:
3 Metal + 2 Electronics + 1 Wire + 3 Electrical Tape
Electronics can feel scarce early on, so make sure you’re not wasting them before you know what you’ll need.
Do Crafted Items Break?
The developers’ stated system is that your base tools remain intact and don’t have traditional durability.
Instead, durability is attached to the DIY modules installed in those tools.
When a module breaks, some of its raw materials can be recovered. If a module is still intact, you can remove it and install it into another tool.
However, modules cannot be duplicated.
Suit equipment follows the same general idea, meaning you may eventually need to re-stuff or replace modules when they wear out.
Don’t Use Old Demo Recipes
This is especially important if you’re looking for Breathedge 2 crafting information right after launch.
The 2025 Next Fest demo was discarded and rebuilt from scratch, and the developers later stated that very little from that demo would remain.
Because of that, older recipe lists should not automatically be treated as Early Access information.
If a recipe hasn’t been verified on the August 31, 2026 Early Access build, it’s better to mark it as unconfirmed rather than assume the old number is still correct.
This also applies to material names and crafting systems that existed in the original Breathedge but haven’t been verified in Breathedge 2.
Recipes That Are Still Unconfirmed
There isn’t a complete verified recipe database for the launch chapter yet.
The following crafting information remains incomplete:
- Weapon recipes
- Armor recipes beyond the confirmed Protective module setup
- The complete tool upgrade tree
- Workstation tier requirements
- Thruster upgrade formulas
- Oxygen tank capacity upgrades
- Small Engine research at the Depot
- Recipes using Aluminum
- Recipes using Plastic
- Recipes using Rubber
- Recipes using Light Bulbs
- Whether Refined Metal can be processed into another metal tier
Rather than filling these gaps with old or unverified numbers, I’m keeping them separate until they can be properly confirmed on the Early Access build.
Do You Need Blueprints to Craft?
Blueprints are part of Breathedge 2’s progression, but the exact unlock system isn’t completely clear yet.
The official description says that you learn new blueprints, while the developers have also explained that objective markers no longer simply point you toward every unlock.
That means exploration plays a bigger role in discovering what you can build.
The Scanner and Processor systems from the original Breathedge should not automatically be assumed to work the same way in Breathedge 2. Their use as recipe-unlocking mechanics has not been confirmed for this Early Access build.
Breathedge 2’s crafting system is still being uncovered, so it’s worth being careful with recipe lists you find online. The Early Access version uses a DIY module system rather than a simple collection of traditional recipes, and several parts of that system haven’t been fully documented yet.
For now, the most useful formulas to remember are 2 Metal for the first tool, 4 Metal for Refined Metal, 4 Titanium for the Backpack, and 2 Oxyworms + 1 Metal + 1 Ice for Purified Oxygen.
As more of the Early Access crafting tree becomes available and recipes are tested on the live build, the missing weapon, armor, tool and module formulas should become much easier to fill in.
