Every time you craft or reroll Sugar Runes, you’re dealing with several layers of RNG. You need the right stat, a good rarity, and preferably a high-quality roll. On top of that, not every Rune slot is immediately active, since additional slots are tied to Cookie promotion.
That makes knowing which Sugar Rune stats are actually worth keeping extremely important.

CookieRun Crumble Sugar Runes Guide – Best Stats, Unlock
Sugar Runes aren’t available immediately when you begin CookieRun: Crumble.
You’ll need to make some progress through the game’s stages and quests before the system becomes available.
Once unlocked, you’ll find Sugar Runes near the Cookie Promotion section of the character menu.
This is where you can craft and reroll Runes for individual Cookies.
How Sugar Runes Work
Sugar Runes provide additional stats to your Cookies.
When you craft a Rune, there are three major variables determining what you receive:
- Rarity
- Stat
- Quality
This means simply rolling the stat you wanted doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve received the best possible Rune.
You also need to pay attention to its rarity and the actual percentage attached to the stat.
For example, Attack Amplification can roll at different percentages. A lower-quality version might provide around 6.10%, while a better-quality roll can reach around 7%.
Two Runes providing the same stat can therefore have noticeably different values.
Sugar Rune Rarity Explained
Rarity is displayed alongside each Rune roll.
Ideally, you want to work toward the highest rarity available, particularly SSR Runes.

An SR roll might seem good now, but locking it and repeatedly paying increased reroll costs while chasing SSR stats can become extremely inefficient.
What Sugar Runes Should You Lock?
Ideally, look for a combination of:
High rarity + correct stat + strong quality.
SSR rolls for one of your Cookie’s best stats are particularly valuable.
You don’t necessarily need to reject a great Rune simply because it appears in a slot your Cookie hasn’t unlocked yet.
If you roll something difficult to replace—such as an SSR Attack Amp or Skill Amp—it can still be worth locking for later.
The Rune isn’t immediately useful while that slot remains inactive, but you’ll eventually gain access to it as you promote the Cookie.
There’s an important distinction here.
A mediocre Rune sitting in a locked slot probably isn’t worth increasing your reroll costs for. An exceptional SSR roll for one of that Cookie’s best stats potentially is.
Focus on Your Most-Promoted Cookies First
One of the biggest limitations of Sugar Runes is that Cookies don’t immediately have access to every Rune slot.
Additional slots become available through Cookie promotion.
That means a Cookie with relatively little promotion may have several grayed-out Rune slots. You can potentially roll and lock stats in those positions, but you won’t receive their benefits yet.
For this reason, prioritize Cookies you’ve already promoted heavily.
They have more usable Rune slots, meaning the resources you’re spending provide an immediate improvement instead of sitting inactive until some future promotion.

Skill Amplification

Best Sugar Rune Stats for Tanks
Tanks have completely different priorities.
Their job isn’t to produce maximum damage. They’re on the frontline absorbing attacks so your more vulnerable Cookies can survive behind them.
The best tank Sugar Rune stats are generally:
Damage Reduction > HP Amp > Defense Amp > Crit Resistance
Survivability comes first.
Damage Reduction
Damage Reduction should usually be your highest-priority defensive stat.
Instead of simply adding more HP or Defense, it directly reduces incoming damage.
For example, if you have 5% Damage Reduction, the effect reduces the incoming damage accordingly rather than relying entirely on a comparison between your Defense and the attacker’s offensive stats.
This makes Damage Reduction an extremely valuable general defensive stat.
If you roll a high-rarity Damage Reduction Rune on an important frontline Cookie, think carefully before rerolling it.
HP Amplification
HP Amp increases the Cookie’s health pool.
More HP gives your frontline additional room to survive incoming attacks, especially during prolonged battles where they’re repeatedly taking damage.
It pairs naturally with other defensive stats rather than replacing them.
Defense Amplification
Defense Amp strengthens the Cookie’s Defense.
