Dead Rails has received a new Dispatches update, adding a brand-new game mode along with a new title system and additional rewards. This is a little different from a normal update because these Dispatches are designed to add new modes and challenges between the game’s bigger updates.
The new mode is focused on surviving as long as possible while traveling across the map. As you travel further, you can unlock new titles and earn Bonds, but the challenge also becomes harder as time passes.
The biggest thing to know is that this is a permadeath mode. There are no revives, so if you die during the run, the game ends and you have to start again.
Dead Rails Dispatches Update Guide – Permadeath Mode
You can access the new mode when creating an elevator in Dead Rails.
When selecting your game mode, you will now be able to choose the new Dispatches mode. After entering the mode, you can play normally and start traveling across the map.
The main difference is that you only get one life.
No Revives
There are no revives available in this game mode.
If your character dies, the entire run ends. This means you need to be much more careful during the journey, especially as the difficulty increases.
New Titles and Rewards
The new mode introduces progression based on how many kilometers you travel.
The first major goal is 40 kilometers. Reaching this distance unlocks the Still Breathing title and gives you 25 Bonds.
As you continue traveling, additional distance goals become available with more titles and rewards.
For example, the next goal shown in the update requires 80 kilometers and rewards another title along with 50 Bonds.
Still Breathing Title
After completing the first 40-kilometer goal, the Still Breathing title becomes available to equip.
Titles appear above your character’s head, alongside your train name and class name, allowing other players to see the title you’ve earned.
This gives players something to work toward while continuing to play the new mode.
The Mode Gets Harder Over Time
The new Dispatches mode isn’t just about traveling a certain distance.
The difficulty increases as the run progresses. After around 24 hours, stronger enemies begin appearing, making later stages more dangerous.
Since there are no revives, surviving these increasingly difficult encounters becomes an important part of completing the longer distance goals.
Global Community Reward
There is also a global progression goal connected to the new mode.
Players collectively need to travel 2 million kilometers. Every kilometer traveled contributes toward the community-wide total.
The reward for reaching the 2-million-kilometer goal has not been revealed yet, so players will have to wait until the community reaches the target to find out what is waiting at the end.
Dead Rails Dispatches Update Explained
The new Dispatches system gives Dead Rails a way to introduce smaller challenges between major updates.
The current mode is built around long-distance survival, with players earning rewards as they travel further. The combination of titles, Bonds, increasing difficulty, and permadeath gives experienced players another reason to attempt longer runs.
The first target is relatively straightforward at 40 kilometers, but the later goals will require much more careful play because dying at any point ends the run.
If you want to collect the new titles and rewards, select the Dispatches game mode when creating an elevator, prepare for a one-life run, and start working toward the distance milestones.
