Doloc Town Fishing Guide – All Fish Locations, Seasons

Fishing in Doloc Town is one of those activities that sounds simple until you actually try to complete the collection. You cast your line, wait, pull something out, and then realize the one fish you actually need apparently only exists in one tiny pond, during one particular season, and possibly at a very specific time of day. If you’re trying to complete your fish collection, it can get frustrating pretty quickly.

That’s why I’ve put together this Doloc Town fishing guide with the fish I’ve found at each location, separated by season and weather conditions. This should save you from having to travel around the entire map wondering whether you’re even fishing in the right place.

There are also a few things worth knowing before you start. Some of the rarer fish appear to require certain progression, while others seem tied to specific conditions such as nighttime, rain, or extreme heat.

Doloc Town Fishing Guide – All Fish Locations, Seasons

These are some observations worth keeping in mind before you start hunting for the rarer catches.

First, some fish appear to be locked behind progression. In particular, Rainbow Trout, Koi, and Wolf Fish seem to require getting past the third modifier, which is the Water Purifier.

I also recommend going straight for the best fishing rod you can reasonably get. You can technically work your way through the lower-tier rods, but if you’re planning to complete the collection anyway, I’d rather spend the money once and avoid upgrading several times.

I didn’t test fishing during acid rain, so I can’t confidently say how much it affects fish spawns. If you’ve noticed different spawn behavior during acid rain, that’s something worth keeping in mind.

Another interesting thing is that I didn’t notice a huge difference between daytime and nighttime catches for most fish. Catfish is the obvious exception, as it appears in several locations specifically at night.

Rainy Season – Mild: Mistshade

The first rainy-season period has a pretty good variety of fish available. If you’re trying to fill out your collection, this is a good time to check several different locations rather than staying at one pond.

Deer Statue Pond

During this period, you can catch:

  • Gold Fish
  • Grass Carp
  • Carp
  • Shrimp
  • Catfish at night

The pond is particularly useful because of the Gold Fish. If you’re looking for Catfish, come back at night.

Ridge Valley

Ridge Valley has:

  • Carp
  • Rainbow Trout
  • Shrimp
  • Koi
  • Catfish at night

Rainbow Trout and Koi may require the Water Purifier progression mentioned earlier.

Dock

At the Dock, you can catch:

  • Kelp
  • Cod
  • Sardine
  • Bass
  • Tuna

This is one of the more useful spots if you’re after ocean catches rather than pond fish.

Mountain Pond

Mountain Pond contains:

  • Koi
  • Grass Carp
  • Shrimp
  • Carp
  • Catfish at night

It’s another solid location for working through the common freshwater catches.

Outpost

At the Outpost, look for:

  • Shrimp
  • Loach

There’s not a huge variety here, but it’s worth visiting when you specifically need one of these two.

Eastern Pond

The Eastern Pond is one of the better locations during this season:

  • Shrimp
  • Rainbow Trout
  • Carp
  • Koi
  • Sturgeon
  • Catfish at night

If you’re hunting for Sturgeon, this is one of the places you’ll want to check.

Rivervalley Dump Puddle

There’s a small puddle in the dump area that has a rather unusual catch:

  • Aquatic Chameleon Bug

It’s easy to overlook because the location doesn’t exactly scream “fishing spot,” but don’t skip it if you’re completing the collection.

Wetlands – Three Hovercraft Spots

These fishing spots contain:

  • Bass
  • Shrimp
  • Cod
  • Sardine
  • Tuna

It’s a useful area if you want to catch several different ocean species without constantly travelling across the map.

Wetlands – Autonomous Vessel Location

Here you can find:

  • Shrimp
  • Ricefield Eel
  • Aquatic Chameleon Bug

Wetlands – Lichen Cave

The Lichen Cave has:

  • Pike

It’s a very specific location, so remember it if Pike is the fish you’re missing.

Lotus Marsh

Lotus Marsh in the Wetlands contains:

  • Pike
  • Carp
  • Shrimp
  • Koi

It’s another good spot for freshwater catches.

Rainy Season – Raincrest

When the rainy season moves into Raincrest, several of the available catches change.

Deer Statue Pond

You can catch:

  • Gold Fish
  • Rainbow Trout
  • Koi
  • Carp
  • Shrimp
  • Catfish at night

Ridge Valley

Ridge Valley has:

  • Carp
  • Koi
  • Grass Carp
  • Rainbow Trout
  • Shrimp

There’s a nice variety here, especially if you’re trying to collect several freshwater species.

Dock

The Dock contains:

  • Kelp
  • Sardine
  • Cod
  • Bass
  • Tuna

Tuna was particularly frustrating here. If you’re hunting for it and aren’t getting anything useful, be prepared to spend quite a while fishing.

I’d recommend bringing plenty of food and drinks before committing to a long fishing session.

Mountain Pond

Available catches:

  • Grass Carp
  • Carp
  • Koi

Outpost

Fish in the puddle next to the building:

  • Loach
  • Shrimp

Eastern Pond

You can catch:

  • Shrimp
  • Carp
  • Rainbow Trout
  • Koi
  • Catfish at night

Rivervalley Dump Puddle

  • Aquatic Chameleon Bug

Again, don’t forget this tiny fishing location if you’re working toward completing everything.

Wetlands – Three Hovercraft Spots

Available fish:

  • Cod
  • Tuna
  • Bass
  • Sardine
  • Shrimp

Wetlands – Autonomous Vessel Location

  • Ricefield Eel
  • Shrimp
  • Aquatic Chameleon Bug

Wetlands – Lichen Cave

  • Pike

Lotus Marsh

  • Pike
  • Koi
  • Carp
  • Shrimp

Dry Season – Mild: Blazefall

Once the dry season starts, the fishing pool changes again. This is also where some of the more unusual fish start appearing.

Deer Statue Pond

You can catch:

  • Wolf Fish
  • Carp
  • Koi
  • Shrimp
  • Gold Fish
  • Grass Carp at night

Wolf Fish is one of the catches to keep an eye out for here.

Ridge Valley

Ridge Valley has:

  • Carp
  • Koi
  • Wolf Fish
  • Shrimp
  • Grass Carp

Dock

The Dock becomes particularly interesting during this period:

  • Sardine
  • Bass
  • Eel
  • Kelp
  • Mimicry Fish

The Mimicry Fish is especially unusual. It appears to be associated with a rainy night based on observations, although there may be other conditions that can trigger it.

If you’re specifically hunting this fish, prepare for a long session. Bring your favorite drinks, food, and enough patience to survive the wait.

There have also been observations of Mimicry Fish appearing during the second hot season without an obvious condition, so the exact requirements may be worth testing further.

Mountain Pond

Available catches:

  • Carp
  • Shrimp
  • Wolf Fish
  • Koi

Outpost

At the puddle next to the building:

  • Snail
  • Shrimp

Eastern Pond

The Eastern Pond has:

  • Shrimp

It’s a much smaller pool of possible catches during this period.

Rivervalley Dump Puddle

  • Aquatic Chameleon Bug

Wetlands – Three Hovercraft Spots

Available fish:

  • Shrimp
  • Sardine
  • Eel
  • Bass

Wetlands – Autonomous Vessel Location

  • Ricefield Eel
  • Shrimp

Wetlands – Lichen Cave

  • Pike

Lotus Marsh

  • Pike
  • Shrimp
  • Carp
  • Koi

Dry Season – Emberreach

The final seasonal group covered here is Emberreach.

Deer Statue Pond

You can catch:

  • Wolf Fish
  • Carp
  • Shrimp
  • Koi
  • Catfish at night

Dock

The Dock has some of the most interesting catches during Emberreach:

  • Sardine
  • Bass
  • Eel
  • Kelp
  • Mimicry Fish
  • Glow Eel during a Scorching Day

The Glow Eel is one you’ll want to specifically watch for during Scorching Day conditions.

Mimicry Fish is also available without the same strict conditions noted during the earlier season, based on observations.

Ridge Valley

Available fish:

  • Shrimp
  • Carp
  • Wolf Fish
  • Koi
  • Grass Carp

Mountain Pond

  • Carp
  • Shrimp
  • Koi

Outpost

At the puddle next to the building:

  • Snail

  • Shrimp
  • Sardine
  • Eel
  • Bass

  • Ricefield Eel
  • Shrimp

Wetlands – Lichen Cave

  • Pike

Lotus Marsh

Lotus Marsh has:

  • Pike
  • Shrimp
  • Carp
  • Koi
  • Catfish at night

Quick Fish Location Reference

If you’re missing just one fish and don’t want to read through the entire seasonal breakdown, these are the locations worth remembering:

Aquatic Chameleon Bug: Rivervalley dump puddle and Wetlands Autonomous Vessel area

Pike: Wetlands Lichen Cave and Lotus Marsh

Ricefield Eel: Wetlands Autonomous Vessel location

Loach: Outpost during rainy seasons

Snail: Outpost during the dry season

Sturgeon: Eastern Pond during Mistshade

Glow Eel: Dock during Emberreach’s Scorching Day

Mimicry Fish: Dock, with conditions varying depending on the season

Wolf Fish: Mainly appears during the dry season

Rainbow Trout: Several rainy-season locations, including Ridge Valley and Eastern Pond

Koi: Appears across several ponds and becomes much easier to find once the relevant progression requirement is unlocked

Fishing for Rare Fish in Doloc Town

If you’re trying to complete the entire fish collection, I’d recommend not simply fishing at one location until you get everything.

That’s where the frustration starts.

Instead, check which season you’re currently in and identify the fish you’re missing. Then go directly to the location associated with it. Some fish have such specific conditions that spending an entire day at the wrong pond is basically just wasting time.

Also keep an eye on day/night conditions. Catfish is the most obvious example, but other rare catches may have additional conditions that aren’t immediately obvious.

And if you’re still missing a fish after trying the listed conditions, don’t assume you’ve done something wrong. Some of these catches appear to have very low spawn rates, and the exact requirements for a few of them may not be completely understood yet.

Hopefully, this makes fishing in Doloc Town a little less painful. Once you know where each fish can actually appear, the whole process becomes much more manageable, and you can spend less time randomly throwing your line into every body of water you find.
