FishFest has quite a few NPC quests, and some of them can be confusing the first time you encounter them. Peter Grillin is one of those characters that leaves many players wondering what fish they’re actually supposed to hand over. I’ve seen plenty of players standing next to him with backpacks full of event fish, trying random catches and wondering why nothing works.
Fortunately, this quest is much simpler than it first appears. The challenge isn’t figuring out a complicated puzzle or finding a hidden location. You simply need the correct fish.
Once you know what Peter Grillin wants, the entire quest can be completed fairly quickly.
Fisch Peter Grillin Quest Guide – How to Get 3 Barbecue Bass Fast
Peter Grillin only accepts one specific fish for his FishFest quest.
The required fish is:
Barbecue Bass
No other fish will count toward the objective, even if they’re rare event catches.
If you’ve been trying to hand over random FishFest fish and nothing is happening, that’s because the quest specifically checks for Barbecue Bass.
How Many Barbecue Bass Do You Need?
To complete the quest, you’ll need to catch:
3 Barbecue Bass
After collecting all three, return to Peter Grillin and hand them over to finish the objective.
The game will then reward you for completing the quest.
Best Conditions for Catching Barbecue Bass
While Barbecue Bass isn’t considered one of the rarest FishFest fish, using the correct conditions can make the grind noticeably easier.
If you’re specifically farming for this quest, try fishing during the following conditions whenever possible.
Tropical Sun Weather
The Tropical Sun event is one of the best weather conditions available during FishFest.
Many event-related fish become easier to find when Tropical Sun is active, including Barbecue Bass.
Whenever you see Tropical Sun appear, it’s a good opportunity to focus on this quest.
Night Time
Barbecue Bass has a stronger connection to nighttime fishing.
If you’re actively searching for it, fishing after sunset generally gives you a better chance compared to spending the entire day fishing under normal conditions.
Many players overlook time requirements and end up spending much longer than necessary trying to find specific event fish.
Summer Season
Since FishFest is a summer-themed event, several of its fish are naturally tied to the Summer season.
Barbecue Bass performs best during Summer conditions, making it another important factor if you’re trying to maximize efficiency.
Magnet Bait
Using Magnet Bait is highly recommended.
While you can absolutely catch Barbecue Bass without it, Magnet Bait helps improve your overall fishing efficiency and can reduce the amount of time spent searching for the required fish.
Whenever I’m working on FishFest fishing quests, I usually keep a stack of bait ready because even small advantages add up over time.
Fastest Way to Complete the Quest
If your goal is to finish Peter Grillin’s quest as quickly as possible, I would recommend following this routine.
First, wait for or take advantage of Tropical Sun weather if it’s available.
Next, fish during nighttime hours while Summer season conditions are active.
Equip Magnet Bait before starting your fishing session.
Continue fishing until you’ve collected three Barbecue Bass.
Once you have all three fish in your inventory, return to Peter Grillin and hand them over.
This method combines all of the known favorable conditions and gives you the best chance of completing the quest efficiently.
Quest Rewards
After turning in the three required Barbecue Bass, Peter Grillin rewards players with Sunshells.
Sunshells are one of the most valuable resources during FishFest because they’re used to purchase limited-time rewards from the event shop.
These rewards include:
- Event rods
- Cosmetics
- Relics
- Furniture
- Special collectibles
- Other FishFest-exclusive items
Because of this, even simple quests like Peter Grillin’s are worth completing whenever possible.
Every Sunshell earned moves you closer to unlocking more event rewards before FishFest eventually ends.
