Fire Rune creates an area while you move.
Its upgrades increase area and damage.
The mutations can slow enemies or change the size of the effect.
This makes it another useful option for builds that are constantly moving around the arena.
Pets in Funguys Swarm
Pets are companions that can help you during arena runs while also having interactive features in the Sanctuary.
At the moment, the listed available pets are Rusdy and Quacky.
Only one pet can be equipped at a time.
Rusdy
Rusdy is a crowd-control focused pet.
Its main combat ability is Freeze.
Rusdy can temporarily immobilize enemies, giving you time to reposition or focus on important targets.
This makes Rusdy a good choice when you want additional control over enemy movement.
Quacky
Quacky is focused on positioning control.
Its combat ability is Knockback.
Quacky pushes enemies away from you, creating space and helping break up enemy formations.
If you regularly find yourself surrounded, this extra knockback can be very useful.
Pet Interactions in the Sanctuary
Pets aren’t only useful during combat.
They also have interactive features in the Sanctuary.
Petting
You can pet your equipped pet and trigger synchronized animations.
Pets will turn toward you during the interaction, and there is also a chance to trigger special happy animations.
Normal look-at behavior is temporarily disabled during the interaction.
Equipping Pets
You can equip or unequip your pet through the Sanctuary system.
There can only be one equipped pet at a time.
Equipping or removing a pet also changes its visual and VFX presentation.
Sanctuary Tree
The Sanctuary Tree is a massive magical tree that plays an important role in the game’s world.
According to the game’s lore, the tree used its dying breath to trap the Fire King.
The area has since become a final refuge for the forest’s survivors.
The Flameguard protect the Sanctuary Tree and work to keep the Fire King trapped while helping the victims of the Great Scorching.
Treelings
Treelings are special companions connected to the Sanctuary Tree.
You can unlock the Treeling system by rescuing a Treeling in the Arena.
You can equip up to three Treelings per run.
Each Treeling can provide a different effect, allowing you to customize your run depending on what type of gameplay you prefer.
Magnetika
Magnetika is focused on resource collection.
After you kill a certain number of enemies, Magnetika activates a magnet Power-Up.
This makes it useful when you’re trying to collect scrap efficiently.
If you’re farming resources rather than simply trying to maximize combat damage, Magnetika is an obvious option to consider.
Slo Moe
Slo Moe is focused on defensive positioning.
It slows down enemy projectile speed around the player.
This gives you more time to react to incoming projectiles and can make crowded situations easier to handle.
Slo Moe is particularly useful when surviving projectile-heavy encounters is your priority.
Punchy
Punchy is an offensive Treeling with an interesting drawback.
It reduces your weapon attack range but gives you extra damage against enemies that are already damaged.
This makes Punchy more suitable for aggressive close-range builds where you’re comfortable fighting enemies at shorter distances.
Macho
Macho is focused on survivability.
After you receive enough damage, Macho causes a health pickup to drop.
This can give you an additional recovery option during difficult runs.
If you are struggling to survive, Macho can be a useful defensive choice.
Furiosy
Furiosy rewards you for maintaining a clean run.
After you kill a certain number of enemies without taking damage, your attack speed increases for a duration.
This makes Furiosy particularly attractive for aggressive players who are confident in their ability to avoid incoming attacks.
Dashy
Dashy focuses on mobility.
It gives you a chance to refill your dash charge after spending it.
This can be extremely useful in builds where dashing is an important part of both movement and combat.
If you are using dash-triggered abilities such as Bramble Roots, Nut N Run, or Twin Flame, Dashy can fit naturally into the setup.
Treeling Build Ideas
You don’t have to use the same three Treelings for every run.
You can change them depending on what you’re trying to accomplish.
Aggressive Build
For an aggressive setup, Furiosy + Dashy is a strong combination to consider.
Furiosy rewards you for avoiding damage with increased attack speed, while Dashy gives you more opportunities to reposition and trigger movement-based effects.
Defensive Build
If survival is your main concern, try Slo Moe + Macho.
Slo Moe gives you better control over enemy projectiles, while Macho provides an additional way to recover health after taking damage.
Resource Farming Build
For farming, Magnetika is the obvious choice.
Its magnet Power-Up effect can make collecting scrap more efficient, especially when enemies are dropping resources across a large area.
Burst Damage Build
Punchy works well with fast-hitting weapons and builds that can quickly damage enemies.
The reduced attack range is the main trade-off, so you’ll want to be comfortable fighting closer to enemies.
How to Build Around Triggers
One of the most important things to understand when creating a Funguys Swarm build is that skills don’t all activate in the same way.
Some trigger from cooldowns, while others activate from attacks, movement, dashes, XP pickups, summons, or taking damage.
For example, if you build around dashing, abilities such as Bramble Roots, Nut N Run, and Twin Flame become much more interesting.
If you use ranged weapons frequently, you can look toward Dirty Bomb and Thunderspear.
For melee-focused builds, Eagle Claws, Moon Slash, and Whalepunch can provide additional effects.
This means you shouldn’t only look at an ability’s element. You should also look at how the ability activates.
Funguys Swarm gives you a lot of freedom when creating a build.
The elements provide broad themes, but the trigger system is what really allows you to customize how your character plays.
You can build around Beast for direct offensive power, Water for freezing and control, Sky for mobility and Shock effects, Night for ability-focused gameplay, Nature for poison and utility, Earth for control and survivability, or Fire for aggressive damage and burn effects.
Then you can take the build even further with pets and Treelings.
Rusdy and Quacky provide additional crowd-control options, while Treelings such as Magnetika, Slo Moe, Punchy, Macho, Furiosy, and Dashy can change how you approach an arena run.
My biggest recommendation is not to treat one build as the only correct option. Try different combinations and pay attention to how your skills trigger. A build that looks weaker on paper can become much stronger when its abilities, weapon, pet, and Treelings all work toward the same playstyle.
