If you want to unlock the secret door in Dress To Impress, you first need to find several hidden gems around the map. Each gem requires you to complete a different little puzzle or activity, so simply exploring the map isn’t enough.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through all the gem locations and explain exactly what you need to do to reveal each one. Some are easy to get, while others require a little more work, including a Flappy Bird-style minigame and beach volleyball.
Once you collect all the gems, you’ll be able to open the secret door and access the hidden cave area. So, let’s go through each step from the beginning.
How To Find All Gem Locations to Unlock Secret Door in DTI
For the first gem, you’ll need to find a hammer.
Start by heading to the nearby house and go upstairs. At the top, you’ll find the hammer. Pick it up and then head back outside.
Now look for the large coconut. Once you find it, use the hammer to keep smashing the coconut.
You need to continue hitting it until it eventually gives you a coin.
Once you have the coin, you’re ready to get the first gem.
Use the Coin at the Fountain
With the coin in your inventory, head back toward the stairs.
Go up the stairs, take a left, and then go up again until you reach the recording studio.
Enter the recording studio and continue through the area until you reach the frozen section.
You’ll find a fountain there. Interact with it and throw your coin into the fountain.
After doing this, the blue gem will be revealed.
Pick it up to complete the first gem puzzle.
Find the Second Gem
For the second gem, head back outside and follow the path down.
Go down once and then down again until you reach the area near the tunnel.
Look for the unusual blue door. This door leads into the back room, so go inside.
This section can be confusing, so pay attention to the route.
Navigate the Back Room
Once inside the blue-door area:
- Take a left toward the chairs.
- Turn left again near the large chair.
- Continue forward.
- Follow the long corridor.
- Take a right.
- Look for the gap in the wall.
- Go through the gap and continue toward the bed.
- Pass through the crack in the wall.
- Continue forward and go through the door.
Eventually, you’ll reach an area filled with dirt piles.
Dig Through the Dirt
Once you’re in the dirt area, you need to dig through the different dirt spots.
Search each section until you find the one hiding the gem.
When you dig up the correct spot, the second gem will be revealed. Collect it and move on to the next puzzle.
Find the Third Gem by Lighting Lanterns
The next gem requires you to activate five lanterns around the map.
You’ll need to search for the lanterns and turn on the ones that are still inactive.
Lantern #1 — Orange House
Start by heading to the orange house.
Look around the house for the lantern that hasn’t been activated yet. Interact with it to turn it on.
This is 1/5 lanterns.
Lantern #2 — Orange House Area
Continue exploring the orange house area and head toward the other section of the building.
You’ll find another inactive lantern there.
Turn it on to reach:
2/5 lanterns
Lantern #3 — Near the Recording Studio
From there, head toward the area near the recording studio.
Take the appropriate path and look for another inactive lantern.
Turn it on to reach:
3/5 lanterns
Lantern #4 — Pink Building
Next, head downstairs and look for one of the pink buildings.
Go inside and search around the upper section until you find the next lantern.
Turn it on.
You’re now at:
4/5 lanterns
Lantern #5 — Near the Entrance
For the final lantern, head back toward the entrance.
Go up the stairs and look for the last inactive lantern.
Turn it on to complete the puzzle.
Once all five lanterns are activated, the next gem will be revealed.
Collect the Yellow Gem
After activating all five lanterns, head toward the location where the gem appears.
You’ll find the yellow gem waiting for you.
Pick it up to complete the lantern puzzle.
Find the Fourth Gem — Flappy Bird Minigame
The next gem requires you to complete a small Flappy Bird-style minigame.
Head toward the area where you’ll find the bird underground and interact with it to start the challenge.
Once the minigame begins, you’ll need to guide your character through the rings.
Complete the Ring Challenge
Your goal is to move through the rings without failing.
The challenge can be quite difficult, so don’t worry if it takes you several attempts. You’ll need a little patience and good timing.
Keep going until you successfully pass through the required yellow circle.
Once you complete the challenge, the next gem will be revealed.
Head over to the revealed location and collect the red gem.
Find the Fifth Gem — Beach Volleyball
For the final gem, you’ll need to play a short beach volleyball minigame.
First, go back inside and find the football/soccer ball.
Interact with it and change it into a beach ball.
Once you’ve switched it to the beach ball, head back outside.
Start the Beach Volleyball Game
Find the NPC associated with the beach volleyball activity and interact with them to start the minigame.
During the game, you’ll see different colored circles.
Your job is simple:
- Stand inside the blue circles.
- Avoid the red circles.
- Complete the challenge 20 times.
The red circles are the ones you need to avoid, so pay close attention to where they appear.
Once you’ve successfully completed the required rounds, the final gem will be revealed.
Collect the Purple Gem
After finishing the beach volleyball challenge, head toward the newly revealed location.
You’ll find the purple gem there.
Pick it up to complete the final gem puzzle.
Once you have all the required gems, you can finally unlock the secret area.
How to Open the Secret Door
With all of the gems collected, head back toward the secret door.
Interact with the door and you’ll be able to open it.
Behind the door is a hidden cave area that you couldn’t access before.
Explore the Secret Cave
Once you enter the cave, you’ll find a few additional things to explore.
There are bubbles that you can jump on to reach higher areas, as well as a chest that you can claim.
But the main thing you should look for is the set of three seashells.
These shells are needed to unlock another reward inside the cave.
Find Seashell #1
The first seashell can be found near the entrance of the cave.
Pick it up and you’ll see your character holding it.
You then need to take it to the appropriate pillar/podium.
Jump up the bubbles and platforms until you reach the pillar, then place the shell in its correct position.
Find Seashell #2
For the second shell, head down toward the boat.
Look around the boat area and you’ll find another seashell.
Pick it up and carry it back to the pillars.
Place it on the appropriate podium.
Remember that you have to carry and place the shells one at a time.
Find Seashell #3
For the final shell, head toward the barrel in front of the boat.
You’ll find the third seashell near the barrel.
Pick it up and take it back to the podium area.
Place it in the final position alongside the other two shells.
Unlock the Trident
Once all three seashells have been placed correctly, a new area will open.
Inside, you’ll be able to claim the Trident.
Interact with it to add the reward to your collection.
This is the final reward for completing the secret cave puzzle.
