How to Get the Luminous Rod in Fisch – Rod Stats, Quest

If you’re trying to get the Luminous Rod in Fisch, you’re going to have to do a few tasks for the scientist hidden inside the cave. The good news is that you don’t need to complete all four parts of his quest to get the rod. Only the first three matter for the actual reward, while the fourth part is just for a title.

Here’s the full process, including what fish you need, how to get the Bofluid, and where to catch everything.

How to Get the Luminous Rod in Fisch – Rod Stats, Quest

Start from the main area and follow the path toward the hill. Go over the hill and look for the cave entrance.

Head inside the cave and continue until you reach the door. Go through it and you’ll find the scientist NPC.

Talk to him and he’ll give you a four-part quest. Don’t let the four parts confuse you, though. Only three parts are required to obtain the Luminous Rod.

Luminous Rod Quest Part 1

The first part has two requirements:

  • Catch 3 Bioluminescent or Entrenched Fish
  • Obtain 15 Bofluid

The Bioluminescent fish are fairly easy to recognize because they glow blue. You can encounter them naturally while fishing in the ocean, or you can use Bioinfused Coral bait.

The Bioinfused Coral bait can be obtained from the Deep Taco Boxes that you’ve been finding around the area during the quest.

For the Bofluid, you’ll need to use Toxin Burst with Scavenger anywhere in the Deep.

Once you’ve completed both requirements, go back and speak with the scientist again.

Luminous Rod Quest Part 2

The second part is a little more specific. You’ll need to:

  • Catch an Atlantan Pacific Football Fish
  • Obtain 25 Bofluid

For the Atlantan Pacific Football Fish, use the Trident Rod with Squid bait and fish in the Lower Deep.

The Bofluid requirement works the same way as before, so keep using Toxin Burst with Scavenger in the Deep.

Completing this part also gives you a Stabilizer Chip for the MK1, which is a nice bonus while you’re working toward the rod.

Once you’ve finished, talk to the scientist again to unlock the final required part.

Luminous Rod Quest Part 3

This is probably the most annoying part of the quest.

You’ll need to:

  • Catch a Big or larger Deep Sea Anglerfish
  • The fish must have any mutation
  • Obtain 35 Bofluid

For the Deep Sea Anglerfish, you’ll want to use a rod that can increase the size of the fish.

A Random Rod can work, but if you have Nate’s Blade, I’d personally use that because it’s a much better option for this requirement.

Head over to Gloomy Crevice and start fishing for the Deep Sea Anglerfish.

Remember, it needs to be Big or larger, and it also needs a mutation, so don’t leave as soon as you catch a normal-sized one.

You’ll also need another 35 Bofluid, so keep farming that with the same Toxin Burst + Scavenger method.

Claim the Luminous Rod

Once you’ve completed the third part, head back to the scientist.

Talk to him and you’ll finally receive the Luminous Rod.

There’s still a fourth quest part available, but you don’t need to complete it for the rod. It’s only there to unlock a title, so you can safely skip it if you’re only interested in getting the weapon.

Luminous Rod Stats

Here’s what the Luminous Rod offers:

  • Lure Speed: 70%
  • Luck: 95%
  • Control: 0.1
  • Resilience: 25%
  • Max KG: 60,000
  • Progress Speed: 10%

The rod is also described as Dr. Veain’s favored rod, with its description focusing on bringing an otherworldly glow into the abyss and luring nocturnal creatures from the deepest trenches.

Does the Luminous Rod Have a Special Mutation?

Yes, the rod can produce its own special Luminess mutation.

When testing the rod, the Luminess mutation can appear during fishing, so there’s definitely more going on with this rod than just its basic stats.

The 95% Luck is particularly nice if you’re looking to target rarer fish, while the 60,000 KG maximum makes it useful for catching some heavier creatures as well.
