If you’re trying to get the Rod of the Singularity in Fisch, you’re in for a bit of a grind. In this post, I’ll walk you through the full quest, including the fish and materials you need, where to find them, and what you can expect once you finally unlock the rod.
The quest involves talking to Merlin several times, catching some pretty specific fish, collecting special materials, and eventually gathering the items needed to stabilize the Singularity. So, let’s go through it step by step.
Start the Celestial Congregation Quest
The first thing you need to do is activate the Celestial Congregation. Once you activate it, you’ll receive a +25% Luck bonus, which is definitely useful because some of the catches required for this quest can be annoying.
After activating it, head down into the area where you can find Merlin and speak with her.
Merlin will give you a list of items that you need to catch and bring back:
- 1 Shiny or Sparkling Celestial Crowned Anglerfish
- 1 Nova Hardened Glass
- 12 Nova Gold Pieces
- 12 Celestial Scrap Metal
You’ll need to work through these requirements one at a time, so don’t worry about having everything immediately.
Collect 12 Celestial Scrap Metal
The first requirement is 12 Celestial Scrap Metal.
Head to the fishing pool associated with the quest and start fishing there. Keep going until you’ve collected all 12 pieces.
Once you have the required amount, return to Merlin and talk to her again.
This quest involves quite a few trips back to Merlin, so don’t worry if it feels like you’re constantly going back and forth.
Get 12 Nova Gold Pieces
Next up, you’ll need 12 Nova Gold Pieces.
For this part, using a Starfall Totem can make things much easier. Activate the totem and start fishing with the appropriate bait and rod setup.
I recommend using Starlight Worms if you have them available. They can help with the catches you’re looking for, and having a good Luck setup is useful here.
Once you’ve collected all 12 Nova Gold Pieces, head back to Merlin again.
Catch a Nova Hardened Glass
This was one of the easier requirements in the run shown in the video, but your results may vary.
Head back to the required fishing area and fish for the Nova Hardened Glass.
A good setup here is to use a rod that has a chance to produce Nova catches, together with a Starfall Totem and Starlight Worm bait.
If you have a Luck Potion available, you can use one as well. The more Luck you can stack, the better your chances are of getting the required catch without spending forever fishing.
Once you get the Nova Hardened Glass, return to Merlin.
Get a Shiny or Sparkling Celestial Crowned Anglerfish
This is where the quest can become seriously frustrating.
You need to catch a Celestial Crowned Anglerfish with either the Shiny or Sparkling mutation.
The important part is that you need the right fish and the right mutation. Simply catching the Crowned Anglerfish isn’t enough.
This can take a lot of attempts, so don’t be surprised if you catch several Crowned Anglerfish without getting the exact combination you need.
For this part, stack as much Luck and Shiny/Sparkling chance as possible. A rod with Celestial-related bonuses can also help, depending on what you have available.
In the run I followed, the player went through several unsuccessful catches before finally getting the correct fish. Eventually, after increasing the server Luck, the required Celestial and Sparkling combination finally appeared.
So, if you’re stuck here, don’t assume you’re doing something wrong. This part can simply be RNG-heavy.
Return to Merlin
Once you finally have the required Shiny or Sparkling Celestial Crowned Anglerfish, take it back to Merlin.
After turning in the required items, the quest moves into the next stage.
You’ll receive a new objective involving the Astral Stabilizer and several additional materials.
Gather the Astral Stabilizer Materials
Merlin explains that the Astral Observatory contains powerful items that can be used to stabilize the Singularity.
You’ll need several special materials for this part, including:
- 5 Stabilizer Cores
- Unstable Crystal
- Umbra Matrix
- Singularity-related materials
The exact locations are spread across different areas, so this is where the quest starts sending you around the map.
You’ll need to explore the required sub-locations and fish for the special catches.
Find the Required Fishing Locations
One of the useful things about this part of the quest is that the required areas aren’t all in the same place.
You’ll eventually need to visit different locations and sub-locations to obtain the materials.
One of the catches can be found in a sub-location connected to the Astral area. Another required item takes you toward the Abyssal Zenith, where you’ll need to dive underwater.
When you’re moving through these areas, pay attention to the environment and entrances. Some of the locations are easy to miss if you’re simply following the main path.
Use the Blue Moon Totem When Needed
For one of the required catches, using a Blue Moon Totem can help set up the correct conditions.
Make it nighttime and activate the Blue Moon Totem when appropriate, then fish in the required location.
The catch can be rare, so don’t be discouraged if you don’t get it immediately.
Once you’ve collected the required item, move on to the next location.
Head to the Abyssal Zenith
The next part takes you toward the Abyssal Zenith.
You’ll need to dive underwater and reach the required area. Be careful while traveling because there are dangerous creatures in the area, and getting distracted can easily send you off course.
Once you reach the correct underwater location, fish for the required item.
After getting it, you can continue with the remaining materials for Merlin.
Visit the Cryogenic Canal
Another required item can be obtained around the Cryogenic Canal in the Northern Expedition area.
Make your way through the area and locate the required fishing spot.
Fish until you obtain the final material needed for Merlin.
At this point, you should have everything required to finish the stabilization portion of the quest.
Return to Merlin and Get the Rod of the Singularity
Once you’ve gathered all of the requested items, head back to Merlin one final time.
Talk to her and hand over the materials.
After the Singularity has been stabilized, Merlin finally gives you the Rod of the Singularity.
And honestly, after everything you have to collect for this quest, getting the rod feels pretty satisfying.
Rod of the Singularity Stats
The Rod of the Singularity has some seriously impressive stats.
According to the run shown in the video, its stats are:
- Lure Speed: 618%
- Luck: 287%
- Control: 0.08
- Resilience: 28%
- Max Kg: Extremely high
The rod also comes with its own unique passive and can produce Nova catches.
The biggest thing you’ll notice when you start fishing with it, though, is how unusual the fishing bar behaves.
How the Rod of the Singularity Fishing Bar Works
The fishing bar doesn’t behave like a normal rod.
Instead of appearing in the usual predictable position, the bar can spawn in random locations.
The movement also feels unusually slow, which can make the rod surprisingly tricky to control despite its amazing stats.
At first, I found this a little strange because you might expect a rod this powerful to make everything incredibly easy. Instead, you have to get used to its unique fishing mechanic.
Once you understand how the bar behaves, though, it becomes much easier to work with.
Rod of the Singularity Mutation
The rod can also produce a special Singularity mutation.
This is one of the coolest parts of the rod because the resulting catch has a completely different appearance.
If you’re collecting unusual mutations or simply want to see what the new rod can do, this is definitely something worth experimenting with.
The rod also looks great while equipped, and its stance makes it feel different from many of the other rods in Fisch.
