For the first time in five years, AMD has overtaken NVIDIA in both GPU shipments and now owns a larger market share than its rival company. This is the first time that AMD ranked above NVIDIA in total GPU shipments since Quarter 3 of 2014.
Not only have AMD overtaken NVIDIA in shipments, but they also own a larger market share now. AMD now has a 17.2% market share compared to NVIDIA’s 16%. John Peddie, the main researcher in this case, also reported that “AMD’s overall unit shipments increased 9.85% quarter-to-quarter.”.
However, this is no surprise. There is no doubt that both the quality and performance of the AMD graphics cards have improved significantly over the past few years. In fact, it has been proven that the Radeon RX 5700 XT is actually 10% faster than its rivals GPU named the RTX 2060.
AMD is also doing rather well in the CPU market. Intel even recently praised AMD for making such great processors. In general, AMD seem to be in a much better position than they were five years ago.
With rumours of a brand new mega graphics card on the way, AMD could be on its way to potentially overtaking NVIDIA in sales aswell. It will be incredibly interesting to see how this plays out. Which Graphics cards do you prefer?
