The latest Kaizen update is here, and there’s quite a bit to check out. The big attraction is obviously the new Dagon Curse Technique, but that’s not all we’re getting. There’s also a brand-new raid, a new clan with its own ability, several accessories, and a bunch of new gameplay to mess around with.
I went through the update and tested the new abilities, including Dagon’s moves and the new domain. Some of these attacks are genuinely fun to use, especially once you start combining them together.
So, let’s go through everything that was added and what you should know about each part of the update.
New Dagon Curse Technique in Kaizen
The biggest addition in this update is the Dagon Curse Technique.
The technique comes with five different moves, giving you plenty of options for both regular combat and the new raid.
The five abilities are:
- Riptide Drag
- Disaster Current
- Domain Current
- Calamity Tide
- Horizon of the Captivating Skandha
Each move has its own purpose, and the overall kit is heavily focused on water-based attacks, waves, sharks, and Dagon’s domain.
Riptide Drag
Riptide Drag is one of the first moves you’ll get familiar with.
When you activate it, you can drag your opponent toward you while dealing damage.
It’s a pretty straightforward ability, but it’s useful because pulling an enemy closer gives you an easy opportunity to follow up with another attack.
The move also looks great, especially when you’re fighting against another player or a group of enemies.
Basically, if someone is trying to keep their distance, Riptide Drag gives you a way to bring them back into the fight.
Disaster Current
Next up is Disaster Current, which is one of the more interesting attacks in the kit.
You can hold the ability before releasing it, allowing you to charge the attack.
Once activated, it sends a large wave toward your target like a projectile.
That makes it useful when you’re fighting from a distance instead of trying to get directly next to your opponent.
The wave also becomes larger when you’re using Dagon’s enhanced form, making the attack considerably more impressive.
If you like abilities that let you pressure someone without having to stand right beside them, Disaster Current is definitely one of the better moves in this kit.
Domain Current
Domain Current takes things up another level.
When you activate the ability, the attack moves upward before sending projectiles crashing down toward your target.
The projectiles appear to be shaped like sharks, which fits Dagon’s theme perfectly.
It’s one of those moves that’s especially satisfying when you’re fighting multiple enemies because you’re essentially raining attacks down over the area.
The visual effect is also pretty impressive, although you’ll need to get used to the timing if you want to land it consistently.
Calamity Tide
Then we have Calamity Tide.
This move creates a large water-based attack that can hit enemies in front of you.
It’s probably one of the more visually impressive moves in the basic Dagon kit.
During testing, it was able to hit the target while producing a pretty large attack effect, making it useful when you’re trying to deal damage over an area.
It also fits nicely into combos because you can use your other abilities to position enemies before following up with Calamity Tide.
Horizon of the Captivating Skandha
And then there’s the big one: Horizon of the Captivating Skandha.
This is Dagon’s domain ability.
Before using it, you’ll need to be away from the spawn area and have the domain ready.
Once activated, the target gets pulled into Dagon’s domain, where the fight continues inside the special domain environment.
This is easily one of the coolest additions to the update from a visual perspective.
Inside the domain, you also get access to additional effects and attacks that make the entire ability feel much more like Dagon’s actual fighting style.
The only downside is that the domain takes a while to charge, so you can’t just spam it whenever you feel like it.
You’ll need to build it up and choose the right moment to activate it.
New Dagon Clan
The update also introduces a new Doon Clan.
Once you obtain the clan, you gain access to a special ability called Kraken Body.
Activating it transforms your character into a form resembling Dagon himself.
And honestly, it looks pretty sick.
The transformation isn’t just cosmetic either. It changes the way some of Dagon’s abilities behave.
For example, the waves from Disaster Current become larger, giving the attack considerably more presence.
You’ll also get access to additional minions while using the enhanced form, which makes the transformation feel much more substantial than a simple visual change.
Kraken Body Transformation
The Kraken Body is probably one of the coolest parts of the new clan.
Once activated, your character transforms into the Dagon-inspired form and gains access to enhanced abilities.
The bigger waves and additional minions make the transformation feel like a proper upgrade.
If you’re already planning to use the Dagon Curse Technique, this clan is definitely something you’ll want to look into.
The combination of the clan transformation and Dagon’s abilities makes the entire kit feel much more complete.
New Raid in Kaizen
The update also adds a new raid, giving you another reason to jump into the game after unlocking the new content.
The raid features a Dagon-themed encounter where you’ll need to fight through the enemies and eventually deal with the larger boss.
During the raid, you’ll encounter a Small Dagon before things escalate into the more dangerous phases of the fight.
The boss can grow larger during the encounter and eventually use its domain, so don’t assume the early part of the raid represents the full difficulty.
Fighting Dagon in the New Raid
The new raid gives you a good opportunity to actually test the Dagon Curse Technique in a real fight.
You’ll need to deal with enemies while avoiding Dagon’s attacks and making sure you don’t waste your strongest abilities too early.
Moves like Riptide Drag are useful for controlling targets, while Disaster Current gives you a way to attack from farther away.
Once the fight gets more intense, you’ll want to save your stronger abilities and use them when the boss is vulnerable.
And if you manage to charge your domain during the fight, that’s obviously when things get really interesting.
New Title Guard Accessories
The update also adds several new accessories.
One of the new sets is the Title Guard equipment.
The new accessories include:
- Title Guard Chest Plate
- Title Guard Leggings
- Flowing Title Scarf
You can equip the pieces individually, so you don’t necessarily have to use the entire set if you prefer mixing different accessories.
The set also gives your character a completely different appearance, which is a nice bonus if you’re interested in customizing your character while also improving your stats.
Title Guard Chest Plate
The Title Guard Chest Plate is one of the new pieces added in the update.
You can check its individual stats in the equipment menu before deciding whether it fits your build.
If you’re trying to create a full Dagon-themed setup, this is obviously one of the pieces you’ll want to collect.
Title Guard Leggings
The Title Guard Leggings are the second major piece of the set.
Equipping these alongside the chest plate gives you a much more complete version of the new outfit.
As always, compare the stats with whatever you’re currently wearing before swapping everything over.
Flowing Title Scarf
The final accessory shown in the update is the Flowing Title Scarf.
This one adds the finishing touch to the set and gives the character a more distinctive look.
When all three pieces are equipped together, the entire outfit looks surprisingly clean.
This Kaizen update has a pretty clear centerpiece: Dagon.
The new Curse Technique looks great, and the five abilities give you plenty of ways to fight. I particularly like the combination of Riptide Drag for pulling enemies in and Disaster Current for hitting them from range.
The domain is obviously the biggest spectacle, but the Kraken Body clan transformation is also worth checking out because it enhances the overall Dagon experience.
On top of that, you’ve got the new raid and the Title Guard accessories, so there’s plenty to grind for even after you’ve tested the new Curse Technique.
If you’re returning to Kaizen after taking a break, this is definitely one of the updates worth jumping back into. The Dagon kit alone gives you plenty to experiment with, and the new raid gives you a reason to actually put those abilities to the test.
