Knock Knock Room Defense Team Builds and Comps Guide

If you are trying to build the strongest teams in Knock Knock: Room Defense!, figuring out which heroes actually work well together can make a huge difference. There are plenty of characters to choose from, but simply putting your highest-rarity heroes into one team is not always the best option.

In this post, we will tell you about some of the best team builds for progression, bosses, Burn, Bleed, Frost, and wave clearing. We will also look at a few alternative characters you can use if you are missing some of the main heroes.

After spending time looking at how these heroes work together, one thing becomes pretty clear: synergy matters a lot. Some characters are incredibly flexible and can fit into almost any team, while others become much stronger when you build your entire setup around their specific effects.

So, whether you are pushing through the campaign, struggling against a difficult boss, or trying to create a powerful elemental team, here are the team combinations we recommend trying in Knock Knock: Room Defense!

Knock Knock Room Defense Team Builds and Comps Guide

Let’s start with what is probably the safest and most reliable team for general progression. This setup is designed to help you get through normal campaign stages while giving you a good mix of damage, wave clear, single-target power, and survivability.

The first hero we are going to use is Archangel. This is one of those characters that works in almost every type of team. Archangel is incredibly universal, which means you can plug this hero into many different builds without feeling like you are wasting a team slot.

Next, we have Spiker, another extremely flexible character that we are going to use in several of these team builds.

After that, we want a combination of AoE damage and strong single-target damage. You need AoE for clearing regular enemy waves, but you also need someone capable of dealing with tougher enemies and bosses that appear during stages.

For AoE damage, Poseidon is one of our main recommendations. He is excellent at clearing waves thanks to his Pierce ability.

If you don’t have Poseidon, Metaman is another really good option for AoE clearing. He can put out a lot of damage and works nicely in general progression teams.

For single-target damage, Lazerman is the preferred choice. He can deal massive damage and becomes particularly effective when he keeps attacking the same target.

If you don’t have Lazerman, Cannon Girl is another option worth using. Her Death Barrage can deliver strong burst damage. The downside is that it takes around five seconds to charge, which can feel a little slow, but once it fires, it can deal a lot of damage.

If you are missing both Lazerman and Cannon Girl, you can also try running both Metaman and Poseidon together. They can still provide a good amount of damage, and you shouldn’t struggle too badly with most normal stages.

Finally, we recommend Frost Healer for the last slot. She gives the team much better survivability by continuously helping heal your door.

Recommended Progression Team

  • Archangel
  • Spiker
  • Poseidon or Metaman
  • Lazerman or Cannon Girl
  • Frost Healer

This is probably one of the safest setups to use while pushing through the campaign.

Best Boss Team

For bosses and really tanky elite enemies, we are going to use a team that is fairly similar to the progression setup, but with a stronger focus on sustained single-target damage.

As usual, Archangel remains part of the team.

We are also keeping Spiker because marking the boss helps the rest of your team deal additional damage to that target.

For DPS, Lazerman is one of our main choices because of his excellent single-target damage.

We also have Metaman. While he does have some AoE capabilities, his high critical rate and critical damage make him surprisingly effective against single enemies as well.

For additional damage, Puncher is another hero worth adding. He provides paralysis damage and strong sustained DPS against tougher targets.

There is also another interesting option: the legendary Samurai character. Even though he is a melee hero, which some players may not prefer, he has solid critical-based single-target damage and can work surprisingly well in a boss-focused setup.

If you try him and don’t like the results, you can always remove him and use Frost Healer instead, especially if your team is struggling to survive.

Recommended Boss Team

  • Archangel
  • Spiker
  • Lazerman
  • Metaman
  • Puncher or Samurai

If survivability becomes a problem, consider replacing one of the damage dealers with Frost Healer.

Best Burn Team

The Burn team is built around a specific synergy, and there are two heroes that really form the core of this setup.

The first is the Mech character, who is absolutely essential if you want to run the Burn build effectively. His attacks continuously apply Burn, and he increases the Burn damage enemies take by 5% for every Burn stack, reaching up to 50%.

So, naturally, the more Burn effects you can keep on enemies, the more value you get from him.

The second major character is Bride Wraith. She gives the team another source of Burn while also bringing AoE damage.

She can also pull enemies together, which is useful for grouping targets, and her passive reduces enemy Magic Defense by 15%. That means your magic-based damage dealers can get even more value.

From there, we are adding Archangel because of how universally useful he is, along with Frost Healer for survivability.

Another character we really want to mention here is Red Hood.

Red Hood has good single-target damage, but the more important thing for this team is that she also applies Burn to enemies. Her passive is particularly useful because, while she is on the field, Burn durations on enemies are increased by 15%.

That fits perfectly into the entire Burn strategy and helps you maintain your effects for longer.

Recommended Burn Team

  • Mech character
  • Bride Wraith
  • Red Hood
  • Archangel
  • Frost Healer

The main goal here is simple: apply as much Burn as possible, keep those effects active, and take advantage of the extra damage from the team’s synergies.

Best Physical and Bleed Team

Next, we have the Physical/Bleed team, and this setup revolves heavily around Ghost Captain.

Ghost Captain is important because of his passive ability. While deployed, nearby enemies lose 15% of their Physical Defense.

That immediately benefits the rest of your physical damage dealers and makes him an important part of the team’s overall synergy.

The next major hero is Blue Giant.

His ultimate continuously applies Bleed for six seconds, giving the team an important damage-over-time effect. Blue Giant also becomes stronger as either he or your door loses HP, eventually gaining up to 30% additional damage.

This is also a good example of why a hero’s overall tier ranking does not always tell the complete story.

Even though Blue Giant may not rank as highly as some other characters individually, when you put him inside a team built around his strengths, he becomes much more valuable.

From there, we add Spiker and Archangel, two heroes that continue to provide excellent value in different team setups.

For the final slot, Frost Healer is a safe option if you want more survivability.

However, we also have to mention Scarecrow, a legendary character that many players may overlook.

Scarecrow provides Bleed AoE damage and is another physical damage dealer. Yes, he is also melee, but his passive works extremely well with this setup. While he is on the field, enemies affected by Bleed receive 20% less healing.

That makes him a strong choice for players who want to fully commit to the Bleed synergy.

Recommended Bleed Team

  • Ghost Captain
  • Blue Giant
  • Spiker
  • Archangel
  • Frost Healer or Scarecrow

If you want a safer team, Frost Healer is the better choice. If you want to push harder into the Bleed and physical damage synergy, Scarecrow is definitely worth trying.

Best Frost and Survival Team

The next team is our Frost/Survival setup. As the name suggests, this build focuses more on survivability while using Frost effects to weaken enemies.

The two main characters here are Archmage and Frost Healer.

Frost Healer applies the Frost effect to enemies, while Archmage can also apply Frost through both his ultimate and his regular skill.

Archmage also provides a defensive benefit for the team. While he is on the field, all allies receive 10% additional Magic Defense.

That makes this setup especially useful during longer and more difficult battles where staying alive becomes just as important as dealing damage.

We are also adding Spiker so the team can deal additional damage to marked enemies.

Another excellent honorable mention is Pinocchio.

Pinocchio can also apply Frost to enemies while dealing good AoE damage. More importantly, his passive gives the Frost team even more survivability. While he is on the field, enemies affected by Frost have their Attack reduced by 10%.

So now, instead of only freezing or damaging enemies, your Frost effects are also helping reduce the amount of damage your team takes.

Recommended Frost Team

  • Archmage
  • Frost Healer
  • Spiker
  • Pinocchio
  • Flexible damage or support slot

This is a really nice team for longer, grind-heavy battles where you need extra defense and survivability.

Best Wave Clear Team

Finally, we have the best team for wave clearing.

If you reach a stage where huge groups of enemies are constantly being thrown at your door, this is the type of setup we would recommend.

We are starting with Poseidon, who is one of the best heroes for clearing waves. His Pierce effect helps him deal with multiple enemies, and he can also increase his Attack as he defeats enemies.

Next, we pair him with Metaman, another excellent AoE damage dealer.

For the next slot, we add Cannon Girl.

Even though Cannon Girl isn’t necessarily a traditional AoE hero, she works well in this team because of her passive ability. While she is on the field, all allied heroes gain 10% additional Attack Speed.

That extra Attack Speed helps your other damage dealers fire off their attacks faster and makes your overall wave-clearing potential even stronger.

Because we are focusing on destroying large groups of enemies, we also want a way to group them together.

That is where Bride Wraith comes in. Her ability to pull enemies together makes it much easier for Poseidon and Metaman to hit multiple targets with their AoE attacks.

Finally, we add Archangel to help speed up everyone’s ultimate cycle.

Recommended Wave Clear Team

  • Poseidon
  • Metaman
  • Cannon Girl
  • Bride Wraith
  • Archangel

The whole idea behind this team is to group enemies together and then overwhelm them with constant AoE damage.

Those are some of the best team builds you can try in Knock Knock: Room Defense!, including setups for normal progression, bosses, Burn, Bleed, Frost, survivability, and wave clearing.

One thing I really like about these teams is that they show how important hero synergy can be. A character that might not look amazing when you rank them individually can become extremely strong when you put them into the right team.

Archangel and Spiker are two of the most flexible heroes across these builds, while characters like Blue Giant, Red Hood, Scarecrow, and Pinocchio become much more interesting when you start building around their specific effects.

Don’t worry too much if you don’t have every single recommended character either. Many of these teams have alternatives, and experimenting with the heroes you already own can sometimes lead to a setup that works better for your own progression.

Try these combinations, see where your team is struggling, and adjust your heroes based on the type of enemies and content you are facing.
