Murky Divers Beginner Guide – Swimming Mechanics, Traps
Some ways to make your way around wreck expeditions and other places at a landin’ site safely, and while lookin’ cool at the same time!
Murky Divers Beginner Guide
Swimming Mechanics
So here you’ll learn the basics of swimmin’! First, the controls, they are as follows:
W to swim the direction you’re facing, in other words, W to swim forward, it is important to note that you go the direction you’re facing, so if you look up then press W, you shockingly, go up!
A is used to swim to the left,
D is used to swim to the right,
S is used to swim backwards,
Also, you can press LEFT SHIFT on your keyboard to swim directly upwards no matter where you
face.
And LEFT CTRL is used to swim directly downwards, again, no matter where you’re facing.
And possibly the most important control for swimming, DASHING! You can press Space Bar to dash the direction you’re facing, this will burst you forward very quickly, but it is only a burst! Spamming the Space Bar will cause you to move slower and slower eventually till you basically can’t move, when this happens, wait for a few seconds, then you’ll return to normal speed, so make sure you don’t spam boost or else you could end up really slow! I recommend boosting about when your character’s hands are almost touching, or in other words when your character’s wrists reach the bottom of the screen to avoid fatigue. You can also boost twice when aforementioned conditions are met to get an extra boost of speed!
Traps
Now it is important to note that there are traps in the wreck sites! This is one instance where your newly acquired swimming skills will come to play! To my knowledge, there are two traps, naval mines, and lasers, let’s start with lasers:
Lasers go from one surface to another, doesn’t matter if it’s ceiling, wall, floor, anything, but it will always hit the surface opposite from it, upon making contact with a laser, you’ll take sustained damage for as long as your touching the laser, so it is advised to, well, NOT TOUCH ‘EM!
Next up on our list is naval mines! They look exactly how they do in real life (Minus the chain of course.) and will float there doing nothing, however, if you get near a naval mine, it will beep a few times, then…….KABOOM!!!!! If you’re not paying attention, or not far away enough in time, this will likely be fatal! Now if a naval mine is getting on your nerves, you can get near it to get rid of it on purpose, then swim away, but it can be risky, here’s the strategy I use to get rid of naval mines, it goes as follows: Position yourself in front of a naval mine making sure you have space to go forward, then approach the naval mine from underneath, once it starts beeping, SWIM LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT! I recommend dashing BUT REMEMBER spamming the dash button makes you move really slow, so make sure you don’t get stuck!
Making Sure You Don’t Get Lost
Something I haven’t said yet is that you have a limited supply of oxygen, so remembering your way back to the oxygen filled submarine is CRUCIAL.
First, make sure you’re remembering where you came from and what that entrance looked like, as there is no map or anything to help you (Well there are a few modules but we’ll get into that later.), so remember the: Direction of the entrance, the look of the entrance, and where the entrance is, you can use set decoration as landmarks to remember where you need to go to leave.
Second, don’t get tunnel vision, you may get too hyper-fixated on finding experiments that you may not pay attention to where you just came from, that is one way I’ve died many times when in a wreck site! So make sure your directing your attention to where you came from AND finding experiments.
Modules
There are two modules you can use to help find your way back to the exit, first is the X-ray module, this allows you to see your fellow crew mates through walls, so if your friend’s outside, you can turn on X-ray to get a kind of vague direction on where you need to go.
The next module is Mr. Nuts, he’s a hamster that will guide you back to the submarine, he’s not all that good though, as he tends to just not work and kind of sit there, but the option is there.
Enemies
Now, I won’t really talk about enemies as this isn’t an enemy guide, but if one’s coming at you, just dash away back to the sub, just make sure to time your dashes still!
Welp, that was the Murky Divers Beginner Guide! Now you can navigate wreck sites like a pro! I hope this guide helped, now this is just stuff I’ve learned on my own so take it with a liiiiitle grain of salt, but if you liked the guide, feel free to share it!
