Pass the Fear Hunter Tier List – Best Hunters Guide

Choosing the right Hunter in Pass the Fear can completely change how your run feels. Some Hunters are easy to pick up and consistently strong, while others require much more planning and mechanical skill before they start to shine.

The good news is that there isn’t a completely useless Hunter. Every character has strengths, but some are simply more reliable in the current launch meta.

This tier list ranks every available Hunter based on overall performance, ease of use, boss potential, and how well they perform throughout an entire run.

Pass the Fear Hunter Tier List – Best Hunters Guide

Tier Hunters
S Tier Long Tong, Jenny
A Tier Elena, Marcus, Jester
B Tier Lanny
Unranked Stella (More testing required)

S Tier Hunters

These Hunters are currently the strongest overall choices. They perform well in nearly every situation and require fewer compromises when building your run.

Long Tong

Playstyle: Summoner • Damage Over Time • Consistent DPS

Long Tong is easily one of the strongest Hunters available because she never fights alone.

Her dragon companion, Amber, constantly adds extra damage without requiring additional effort from the player.

Amber’s Dragon Breath attacks deal elemental damage based on your weapon while also applying a burning effect that continues damaging enemies after the initial hit.

This gives Long Tong excellent sustained damage against:

  • Bosses
  • Elite enemies
  • Large enemy waves

Her Ultimate, Fury, pushes her damage even further by dramatically increasing Amber’s Attack Speed and Final Damage for a short period.

During boss fights, this burst window can melt health bars surprisingly quickly.

Jenny

Playstyle: Explosive Damage • AoE • Weapon Progression

Jenny combines one of the strongest passive abilities with arguably the most devastating Ultimate currently available.

Every time you dismantle several weapon parts, she rewards you with another random weapon part.

Since dismantling happens constantly during longer runs, this passive quietly provides excellent long-term value.

Her Ultimate launches a massive explosive attack that deals enormous weapon damage to every enemy caught inside the blast.

Its combination of:

  • Huge damage
  • Wide area
  • Long range

makes it incredibly effective for clearing crowded rooms and deleting bosses.

Few Hunters can match her burst potential.

A Tier Hunters

These Hunters are all capable of clearing difficult content but either require more practice or have slightly more situational strengths.

Elena

Playstyle: Precision • Mobility • High Skill Ceiling

Elena has some of the highest damage potential in the game.

The challenge is actually landing everything consistently.

Her gameplay revolves around carefully timing attacks and dodge mechanics.

After firing, her next dodge automatically releases another powerful Silver Arrow at the nearest enemy.

Mastering this shoot-dodge rhythm dramatically increases her damage output.

Marcus

Playstyle: Critical Hits • Bullet Spam • Aggressive Combat

Marcus is all about overwhelming enemies with bullets.

His abilities generate additional projectiles capable of dealing heavy critical damage.

While some of his mechanics rely on random chance, later upgrades help reduce that inconsistency and make his gameplay much smoother.

Once fully upgraded, Marcus becomes one of the most satisfying Hunters to play.

Jester

Playstyle: Survival • Buffs • Beginner Friendly

Jester is the first Hunter most players unlock, but don’t mistake him for being weak.

His abilities remain surprisingly useful even into later stages of the game.

His defensive passive lets him avoid dangerous attacks, while his Ultimate significantly increases attack speed and reload speed.

Together, they create an excellent balance between offense and defense.

B Tier Hunters

These Hunters are still usable but generally require more experience or specific builds to perform at the same level as higher-ranked options.

Lanny

Playstyle: Economy • Shop Management • Risk vs Reward

Lanny is one of the most unique Hunters in Pass the Fear.

Instead of focusing purely on combat, much of his power comes from managing your coins efficiently.

Players who spend money carelessly won’t get much value from him.

Those who carefully manage their economy can unlock better shop rewards and stronger equipment throughout a run.

His Ultimate increases damage but also causes you to take more damage.

This creates a high-risk, high-reward playstyle that won’t suit everyone.

Stella (Unranked)

At launch, Stella is still difficult to properly evaluate.

More testing is needed before placing her alongside the other Hunters.

As the community discovers stronger builds and optimal strategies, her ranking could easily change in future updates.

Which Hunter Should Beginners Choose?

If you’re just starting Pass the Fear, these Hunters offer the smoothest learning experience:

  1. Jenny – Incredible damage and one of the strongest Ultimates in the game.
  2. Long Tong – Reliable damage thanks to Amber’s constant support.
  3. Jester – Balanced, forgiving, and easy to understand.

These Hunters don’t require advanced mechanics, making them ideal while you’re still learning enemy patterns and build strategies.

The current launch meta heavily favors Hunters that provide consistent damage throughout an entire run, and Long Tong and Jenny clearly stand out as the strongest overall picks. Long Tong excels with her dragon companion delivering steady elemental damage, while Jenny dominates with exceptional weapon progression and one of the most destructive Ultimates in the game.

If you enjoy more technical gameplay, Elena offers incredible damage potential once you master her timing, while Marcus and Jester remain excellent alternatives with their own unique strengths. Lanny is best reserved for players who enjoy managing resources and planning their economy, as his toolkit rewards smart decision-making more than straightforward combat.
