Plague Inc Evolved Xenolith Guide – Achievements, Genes

If you’re jumping into the Xenolith plague in Plague Inc: Evolved, it can feel confusing at first because it plays very differently from normal plagues. This guide breaks everything down in a clean, easy-to-understand way, like I’d explain it to someone playing for the first time.

Plague Inc Evolved Xenolith Guide – All Achievements Explained

Xenolith is not about infecting and killing people in the usual way. Instead, you are spreading alien crystal structures across the planet.

The main goal changes depending on the ending you want, but most of the time you are trying to xenoform the Earth, which means turning land into alien crystal terrain.

So instead of thinking “spread infection,” think

“spread control of the planet itself.”

Unlock All Genes

If you don’t have Xenolith genes unlocked yet, there’s a very easy method.

Play on Casual difficulty and reach the point where you are about to win. Save the game just before victory. After winning, you get a random gene. Then reload the save and win again instantly to unlock another gene.

You can repeat this loop until all genes are unlocked without replaying full games.

Best Starting Setup

Always start in Saudi Arabia. This location is strong because it connects to multiple regions and helps early spread.

At the start, immediately buy early upgrades that help your plague anchor itself and spread through terrain. These upgrades focus on building your presence in the Earth rather than spreading like a virus.

You also want to unlock early human interaction upgrades because they help your plague interact with the population and slow down research.

The early phase is all about building a foundation, not rushing anything.

Mid Game Strategy

Once your upgrades are set, your main goal becomes expanding underground and across continents.

You will start unlocking abilities that:

  • Spread your crystal influence
  • Break through the Earth’s crust
  • Strengthen your control over terrain

At this stage, don’t rush endings yet. Instead, build up your spread so most of the world is either infected or ready to be transformed.

This is where most players mess up by going too fast. You actually want control first, then finish.

Achievement

This is the easiest ending.

You unlock meteor-related abilities and upgrade them fully. These allow you to strike the planet with powerful impacts.

Once upgraded, you hit a single country multiple times with meteors. After enough impacts, the planet literally shatters.

The achievement triggers instantly once the Earth breaks apart.

This path is straightforward because it ignores most of the slower mechanics.

Achievement: Hello, World!

This one is more technical but not hard once you understand it.

You unlock Crystal Alignment abilities which allow you to activate your plague across entire continents.

The goal here is to:

  • Reach about 85 percent xenoformation
  • Build up multiple charges of the ability
  • Then activate it across five continents at the same time

You pause the game, activate it in key regions like USA, Brazil, Africa, Russia, and Australia, then resume.

The moment everything syncs together, the alien consciousness awakens and you get the achievement.

Timing matters here more than anything else.

Achievement: Phone Home

This is the trickiest one.

You need to combine spreading and destruction very carefully.

First, you spread your infection and reach around 75 percent xenoformation. You also need at least one country fully converted.

Then comes the important part.

You must use the Shatter ability to destroy a huge portion of the population very quickly. The key is doing it fast enough in one moment.

The best way is to pause the game, target two highly infected continents, and shatter them back to back.

When done correctly, the game detects the massive destruction and triggers the signal ending.

Achievement: Diamonds Are Forever

This is the standard ending.

You simply fully convert the entire planet into crystal form.

No special tricks required. Just focus on spreading efficiently and finishing the transformation.

Achievement: There Can Only Be One

This unlocks automatically as long as you avoid using meteors in your run.

If you followed the other achievement paths like Hello World or Phone Home, you likely already earned this without trying.

Achievement: One Vision, One Purpose

This is the hardest challenge.

You need to beat Xenolith on Mega Brutal difficulty.

Everything becomes stricter here:

  • Faster cure research
  • Slower spread
  • More pressure overall

The strategy stays the same, but you need better timing and smarter upgrade choices.

Patience matters more than speed in this mode.

The biggest mistake beginners make in Xenolith is playing it like a normal plague.

Don’t rush deaths. Don’t rush abilities blindly.

Focus on:

  • Building spread first
  • Controlling the map
  • Then triggering your ending condition

Once you understand that flow, everything becomes much easier.

And honestly, after a few runs, Xenolith becomes one of the most satisfying plagues in the game because of how different it feels.
