Plants on Fire Beginner Deck for 0–1,200 Trophies – PVP Guide

If you’re just getting started in Plants on Fire and want a strong deck that can carry you through the early trophy ranges without requiring a huge investment, this light-spender setup is a great place to start. It focuses on reliable damage, strong AoE, useful buffs, and enough flexibility to handle both regular waves and tougher enemies.

The important thing is that this deck is designed to grow with you. From 0–300 trophies, you’ll mainly build around Turnipette and Shroomurai while adding affordable damage dealers and support cards. Once you reach 300–1,200 trophies, you can take the deck to the next level by unlocking Pomblaster, Azure Astrologer, and Floral Friar, giving you much better options for dealing with hordes, bosses, shields, and powerful single targets.

0–300 Trophies: Beginner Deck

For your first 300 trophies, focus on a simple core that is easy to build and doesn’t require heavy spending.

Cards to prioritize:

  • Turnipette — A powerful 3-cost Minion that gains +2 ATK whenever she Readies, allowing her to keep scaling throughout the match.
  • Shroomurai — A 5-cost Minion that damages every enemy when it enters the field, making it excellent against groups.
  • Tomato Twister — An 8-cost Minion that gains ATK whenever an enemy is defeated. If you find one early, pick it up so it has more time to scale.
  • Apple Sheriff — Provides additional AoE damage.
  • Pop Gunner — Your main single-target option and particularly useful for breaking shields.

How to Build the Early Deck

Your first priority should be Turnipette and Shroomurai. Together, they give you a strong foundation while keeping your deck relatively affordable.

After that, look for Apple Sheriff when you need more AoE and Pop Gunner when you need additional single-target damage or have to deal with shielded enemies.

For support, keep an eye out for Leeky Beats, Cheerbloom, and Gourmand Baker. These cards can buff your main damage dealers and make your Shroomurai, Apple Sheriff, or Pop Gunner much more effective.

If Tomato Twister appears in your rolls, try to pick it up as early as possible. Since it gains ATK whenever an enemy is defeated, giving it more time on the field can significantly increase its impact.

300–1,200 Trophies: Upgrade Your Deck

Once you reach 300 trophies, it’s time to start upgrading your core lineup.

Your first major goal should be upgrading the U-Pick Farm to Level 3, which unlocks Pomblaster.

If you need more Diamonds for the upgrade, you can earn them through Daily Quests, Adventure Mode, and beginner quests, so you don’t necessarily need to spend extra money.

Pomblaster should be one of your first priorities because its AoE damage gives you much better control against groups of enemies.

After getting Pomblaster, start working toward Azure Astrologer. You can use the Lucky Tokens you earn from different game modes to draw her from the Rookie Pool.

How to Use Azure Astrologer

Azure Astrologer is one of the most important upgrades in this deck because she can significantly increase the power of your strongest Minions.

The main strategy is to freeze a carry in your hand before Azure Astrologer Readies. She will then increase that Minion’s ATK, allowing you to deploy it during the next round with increased damage.

Good Minions to freeze include:

  • Shroomurai
  • Pop Gunner
  • Pomblaster
  • Muscle Melon
  • Apple Sheriff

Choose your target based on the enemies you’re facing. Against large groups, Shroomurai, Pomblaster, and Apple Sheriff are great choices. Against stronger individual enemies or bosses, Turnipette, Pop Gunner, and Muscle Melon can be more effective.

You can also choose not to freeze anything. If you don’t have a good carry in your hand—or you’d rather make Azure Astrologer stronger yourself—simply leave your Minions unfrozen. She can boost her own ATK when she Readies.

Add Floral Friar

Your next major upgrade should be Floral Friar.

You can obtain an 8-Star Floral Friar by completing Adventure Mode Chapter 1, giving you a powerful support card without requiring a major purchase.

Once you have Azure Astrologer and Floral Friar, the deck becomes much more consistent. Instead of relying entirely on raw damage, you now have stronger buffs, scaling, healing, and better tools for adapting to different enemies.

Recommended 300–1,200 Trophy Deck

Your deck should generally revolve around:

  • Turnipette — Scaling damage
  • Shroomurai — AoE damage
  • Pomblaster — Strong AoE
  • Azure Astrologer — Carry and ATK support
  • Floral Friar — Powerful support
  • Pop Gunner — Single-target damage and shield breaking
  • Muscle Melon — Strong against tougher enemies
  • Greenkeeper — Healing and additional buffs

You can adjust the final lineup depending on which cards you’ve unlocked and what enemies you’re currently facing.

Tips for Climbing to 1,200 Trophies

While you’re still building the deck, prioritize Turnipette, Shroomurai, and Pomblaster whenever you see them. They give you a strong mix of scaling damage and AoE.

When you run into the Snail boss, make sure you have some Pop Gunners available. They’re particularly useful for helping break its shield.

Before unlocking Azure Astrologer, use Leeky Beats as your early-game buffer to build an advantage. Once you have Azure Astrologer, you can swap Apple Sheriff for Greenkeeper if you want additional healing and buffs.

Finally, make sure you’re using Azure Astrologer’s freeze strategically. Freeze an AoE carry against hordes and a single-target carry against bosses or powerful enemies. Making the right choice here can have a huge impact on how much value you get from the card.

With this progression, you’ll have a beginner-friendly deck that starts cheap, gets stronger as you unlock key cards, and gives you enough flexibility to climb through the 0–1,200 trophy range without needing to heavily invest in the game.
