If you’re trying to completely finish Pronoun Palace, you’ve probably already noticed that the game has a lot going on beyond simply beating a few runs. There are character unlocks, clearance achievements, enemy-related achievements, weird challenge requirements, and then there’s the whole extra-completion rabbit hole that takes you beyond the normal 100%.
So, yeah, this isn’t really a game where you can just play normally and expect to stumble into everything.
This guide breaks down all the achievements in Pronoun Palace, including character achievements, challenge achievements, enemy requirements, and the extra content that can push your save file all the way to 106% completion.
I’ll also point out the achievements that are worth planning around, because some are incredibly easy to get naturally while others are much easier if you know exactly what you’re looking for.
Pronoun Palace 100% Achievement Guide – All Characters
There are four broad groups of things you’ll be working toward:
- Completion achievements for reaching major milestones
- Character achievements for beating the game with each character
- Challenge achievements for completing unusual objectives
- Extra completion that pushes your save beyond 100%
The important thing to understand is that 100% completion and 106% completion aren’t quite the same thing.
The Good++ achievement only requires 100% normal completion. The extra percentages from Hazel Clearance and the rare easter egg don’t count toward Good++.
So if you’re only interested in the Steam achievement, you don’t necessarily need to torture yourself chasing 106%.
If you’re the kind of person who sees a percentage sitting at 100% and immediately thinks “Yeah, but why isn’t that 106%?”, however, you’re in the right place.
Completion Achievements
These are the achievements tied to your overall progression. Most of them are pretty straightforward and should come naturally as you work through the rest of the game.
Good
Requirement: Complete a run with every character on a non-daily run.
You’ll need to finish a normal run with every available character.
You don’t need to do this on a particularly high clearance for the achievement itself, so don’t make things harder than necessary.
Good+
Requirement: Complete a run on Cerulean Clearance or higher in a non-daily run.
Finish a run on Cerulean Clearance or above.
Cerulean is quite manageable once you’ve gotten comfortable with the basic mechanics, so this shouldn’t be a huge roadblock.
Good++
Requirement: Reach 100% completion on your save file.
This is the big standard completion achievement.
One important detail: the extra completion percentages don’t count toward Good++. So you don’t need Hazel Clearance or the rare golden-disc easter egg just to get the normal 100%.
Clearance Achievements
There are ten achievements for completing the various clearance levels, excluding Hazel.
You can earn these while playing any character, so there isn’t much reason to specifically grind them unless you’re missing one.
If you’re working toward 100%, you’ll naturally collect these along the way.
Political Compass
Requirement: Beat the game on Cerulean Clearance or higher in a non-daily run.
This should eventually happen while you’re working toward Good+.
If Cerulean feels intimidating at first, don’t worry too much. Once you’ve learned how the board, spells, plastic, and enemy patterns work, it’s considerably less scary than it initially appears.
Red Tape
Requirement: Beat the game on Red Clearance in a non-daily run.
Red Clearance is where things start getting considerably more dangerous.
If you’re specifically trying to get this achievement, Jubilist or Child are good choices because they have tools that can help with status effects and survivability.
Defensive spells become much more valuable here. Bug Spray is particularly useful, although it obviously isn’t enough to carry an entire run by itself.
Enemy Achievements
A lot of these are things you’ll unlock naturally just by playing.
When you’re starting out, you’ll generally encounter several new enemies during each run, so you don’t need to obsessively hunt these down immediately.
HOA Inspection
Requirement: Defeat every enemy in the Suburbs.
Once you’ve beaten every Suburbs enemy, you’ll unlock this achievement.
Completing this also unlocks the shadow variants associated with the act.
Party Planner
Requirement: Defeat every enemy in the Party.
Same idea as HOA Inspection, except this time you need to defeat every enemy found in the Party.
Full Audit
Requirement: Defeat every enemy in the Palace.
Clear the entire Palace enemy roster to unlock Full Audit.
Together, these three achievements account for clearing the enemies across the game’s main acts.
Draft Card
Requirement: Beat an enemy’s shadow.
Shadow enemies appear as alternative versions of their normal counterparts.
Once you’ve unlocked the shadow system, you should encounter them naturally.
You don’t need to do anything particularly complicated here—just defeat one.
Doxx
Requirement: Read every Phonebook entry.
Every enemy has a corresponding Phonebook entry, including the shadow versions.
After defeating enemies, their entries become available.
Open each entry and actually click/read it so the game registers it as read.
There are some pretty funny entries in there too, so this is one achievement where I’d actually recommend reading the material instead of just clicking through everything as quickly as possible.
Character Achievements
Each character has four achievements:
- Unlock the character
- Beat the game normally
- Beat the game on Cerulean Clearance
- Beat the game on Red Clearance
The higher-clearance achievements don’t give you a spell. They’re basically there to prove that you’ve mastered that particular character.
The Lexicographer – Wryn Nguyen
The Lexicographer is your starting character and basically serves as the game’s introduction to its core mechanics.
Her Letter Opener is extremely useful because it lets you remove tiles from the board.
Census Survey
Requirement: Start your first run.
You’ll get this immediately when you begin your first run.
Red Letter
Requirement: Beat the game as The Lexicographer in a non-daily run.
Complete a normal run with Wryn.
Floppy Disk
Requirement: Beat the game as The Lexicographer on Cerulean Clearance in a non-daily run.
Complete a Cerulean run with Wryn.
Retransition, Baby
Requirement: Beat the game as The Lexicographer on Red Clearance in a non-daily run.
Complete a Red Clearance run with Wryn.
Lexicographer Tips
Don’t forget the Letter Opener.
It’s tempting to think of it purely as a way to remove annoying letters, but there’s a much bigger advantage.
Because you can manipulate the board and see the incoming queue, you effectively get a much better view of what’s coming next.
Use it aggressively when you need to clean up a bad board.
Also, don’t treat your 26 HP as something sacred that must never be touched.
Health is a resource.
Taking a few points of damage can sometimes be much better than wasting valuable plastic or ruining an otherwise excellent play just to block a relatively small hit.
The Jubilist – V
The Jubilist is unlocked after your first successful game completion.
Their entire gimmick revolves around Gifts that change between battles.
Jubilant
Requirement: Beat the game.
Simply complete a run.
Clown Cache
Requirement: Beat the game as The Jubilist in a non-daily run.
Finish a normal run as Jubilist.
Praxice
Requirement: Beat the game as The Jubilist on Cerulean Clearance in a non-daily run.
Complete a Cerulean run as Jubilist.
Praxis in Action
Requirement: Beat the game as The Jubilist on Red Clearance in a non-daily run.
Complete a Red Clearance run as Jubilist.
Jubilist Tips
The biggest mistake you can make with Jubilist is not using the Gifts enough.
Her spells recharge between battles, so there’s much less reason to save them for some imaginary perfect moment.
If you’re about to finish a fight, use the remaining spell charges.
Even something that seems minor can give you an advantage heading into the next encounter.
A useful way to think about the Gifts is:
- Enhance Gifts: Damage
- Defense Gifts: Survival
- Puzzle Gifts: Board manipulation
Enhance is generally the strongest option if you’re confident, followed by Defense, then Puzzle.
That doesn’t mean you should ignore the other two. A mixed setup is often much safer on higher clearances.
The Child – Guy Young
The Child is unlocked by either losing a run or successfully completing the game with the other characters.
He’s a very different character because of his low HP and Hole Punch mechanic.
Problem Child
Requirement: Lose a run or beat the game with every other character.
This should happen naturally as you’re progressing through the character roster.
T Gel
Requirement: Beat the game as The Child in a non-daily run.
Complete a normal run with Guy.
Damaged Goods
Requirement: Beat the game as The Child on Cerulean Clearance in a non-daily run.
Complete a Cerulean run as Guy.
Irreversible Good
Requirement: Beat the game as The Child on Red Clearance in a non-daily run.
Complete a Red Clearance run as Guy.
Child Tips
If you’re struggling with Child, take the defensive spell whenever possible.
His starting spell selection provides access to at least one option that creates plastic or frozen tiles, and that defense is incredibly important because his low HP doesn’t give you much room for mistakes.
Also, don’t waste your plastic just because it makes a word slightly easier.
The Hole Punch is one of the strongest tools in his kit, and preserving your resources gives you far more flexibility.
And be careful about which letters you punch.
Before committing, look at the entire board and make sure you’re not accidentally removing the one letter that would have allowed a much stronger word.
One more thing: crit-generating spells are especially powerful on Child.
Because Hole Punch lets you send multiple words, crit tiles can turn an ordinary turn into an absolutely ridiculous damage spike.
The Fisher – Leslie Stone
The Fisher unlocks after spelling a word containing at least ten letters.
Her unique mechanic revolves around fishing tiles from the empty top row.
Hooked
Requirement: Spell a 10+ letter word.
If you’re struggling to make a ten-letter word, suffixes can help enormously.
Words ending in -ing, -zation, or -sation can give you some useful options.
Wildcards also make this considerably easier.
Corkline
Requirement: Beat the game as The Fisher in a non-daily run.
Fishing Rifle
Requirement: Beat the game as The Fisher on Cerulean Clearance in a non-daily run.
No Seaman
Requirement: Beat the game as The Fisher on Red Clearance in a non-daily run.
Fisher Tips
Fish often.
There’s very little reason to ignore the mechanic.
You can fish for:
- Specific letters
- Plastic
- Crits
- Replacement tiles
Even when your top row is already populated, fishing can still help you replace something you don’t want.
Plastic is especially useful because fishing gives you another way to recover defensive resources when you’re running low.
Just don’t become so obsessed with fishing for one specific letter that you ignore better plays sitting right in front of you.
Also, you don’t have to chase crits every single turn. Fisher has natural crit access now, so the character is much less dependent on fishing specifically for crits than before.
The Addict – Valence
The Addict is probably the character that will make you question your life choices.
The character has a timer that pushes you to play quickly, while Salt can make the timer even more stressful.
To unlock Addict, you’ll need to complete a run in under 45 minutes.
Refund Requested
Requirement: Beat the game in under 45 minutes.
If you’re trying to unlock Addict, Child is a good choice because Hole Punch gives you a lot of flexibility and lets you make strong plays quickly.
Dime
Requirement: Beat the game as The Addict in a non-daily run.
Panic Button
Requirement: Beat the game as The Addict on Cerulean Clearance in a non-daily run.
One of the Good Ones
Requirement: Beat the game as The Addict on Red Clearance in a non-daily run.
Addict Tips
With Addict, damage is usually your best friend.
You shouldn’t completely ignore defense, but trying to play extremely conservatively can actually hurt you because the timer keeps moving.
Learn the timing of the bombs.
Damage crits appear on even seconds, while Defense crits appear on odd seconds.
Once you understand that rhythm, the character becomes considerably more manageable.
Two bombs are generally a reliable play.
Three bombs can be incredibly powerful, but don’t throw them out blindly on a terrible board. If you have wildcards or a strong setup, go for it. Otherwise, don’t be afraid to wait.
And despite the character’s speed-focused design, don’t rush every decision.
You have more time than you think.
Some enemies, particularly puzzle-heavy or status-heavy encounters, punish reckless play much more severely than simply taking an extra moment to think.
Wildcard generation is fantastic on Addict because it makes your bombs far more reliable.
Frozen and Candy effects are also extremely valuable because they give you sustainability while allowing you to continue playing aggressively.
Perfect Metal Carapace and Bug Spray are especially useful because they help cover some of Addict’s biggest weaknesses.
Challenge Achievements
This is where Pronoun Palace starts getting weird.
These achievements aren’t necessarily tied to completing runs. Instead, you’ll need to deliberately perform specific actions, create unusual boards, or defeat enemies in particular ways.
Most of these are easiest on lower clearances unless the requirement says otherwise.
8 Ball
Requirement: Take 8 or more damage in a single turn.
The easiest method is simply to allow a strong enemy attack through.
Enemies such as New Cop or Bammon can provide enough damage if you don’t have sufficient plastic.
12-Gauge Clay
Requirement: Select 30 different spells.
This should happen naturally.
Just don’t constantly skip spell selections and you’ll eventually hit 30 different spells.
Broken Heart
Requirement: Defeat an enemy while it has less than 3 HP remaining.
This is pretty easy to obtain naturally.
Child can make it easier because the lower HP pool gives you more control over how much damage you’re taking and dealing.
C-4
Requirement: Defeat Paradigm without allowing any bombs to explode.
Focus on the bombs with the shortest fuses first.
Don’t get distracted by a larger play if a bomb is about to detonate.
The achievement can also work with Copycat.
Cat’s Cradle
Requirement: Allow a bomb to explode.
You can get this naturally while playing Addict.
Alternatively, allow a bomb from Paradigm or Copycat to go off.
Cotton Candy Tampon
Requirement: Spell an 8+ letter word containing a period.
Anti-Sex Worker can create period bleed tiles.
Once you have enough of them, combine them with wildcards or other useful tiles to build a long enough word.
You can also encounter useful period tiles naturally on higher clearances.
DNA Tweezers
Requirement: Submit a word containing at least 5 different status effects.
Status effects generally refer to tiles that aren’t standard wooden or plastic tiles.
You can make this easier with Jubilist by collecting different special tiles such as Candy, Cursed, and Bleed.
Natural crits can also help.
Keep in mind that some related tile variants don’t count separately, although Gay Tiles and Enhanced Tiles have their own special distinctions.
Expired Ration
Requirement: Beat the game with an unused Party Ration.
The main challenge here is finding a Party Ration.
Once you’ve got one, simply finish the run without using it.
Child is a reasonable choice if you’re specifically hunting for this because the character is relatively forgiving on lower difficulties.
Fuel Ration
Requirement: Beat the game without selecting any new spells.
Lexicographer is probably your best bet.
Her Letter Opener is already extremely useful, so you can sometimes survive an entire run without needing additional spells.
Play on a lower clearance if you’re struggling.
Girl Chunks
Requirement: Spell a word containing at least 2 shimmering tiles.
Bammon is your friend here.
The shimmering tiles created during the encounter can be combined with wildcards or vowels to create a valid word.
Gray Goo
Requirement: Spell a word containing 2 or more pairs of repeated letters.
Words such as Pizzazz, possess, and assess can help.
You may also unlock this naturally without specifically trying.
Gurolaga
Requirement: Deal 40+ damage in one hit.
Stack crits against Bammon and unleash them together.
Child is particularly useful here because Hole Punch can create very large plays.
Ice IX
Requirement: Block 6+ damage using wildcards.
Freezer makes this much easier because of the frozen wildcards it creates.
Use two high-value letters in a word, such as those found in words like “jazz” or “fizz,” while blocking with the appropriate wildcards.
J/O Permit
Requirement: Submit a slur.
This is one requirement I wouldn’t recommend deliberately pursuing.
Linguistic Drift
Requirement: Spell “alright” correctly.
Yes, really.
Spell:
alright
That’s the whole achievement.
Lip Balm
Requirement: Beat the game without taking damage.
Child is a strong choice for this because of the amount of control Hole Punch gives you.
Play on a lower clearance, focus heavily on defense, and don’t take unnecessary risks.
Lucky Cat
Requirement: Roll 4 or more natural crits in a single turn.
This is one of the more annoying challenges because natural crits aren’t something you can completely control.
Lexicographer is probably the most reliable character for attempting it.
Turning on Show Crit Chance in the settings can help you understand what’s happening.
Longer words increase your crit chance, so don’t be afraid to build longer plays.
There are also several spells that can improve your odds, including:
- T Gel
- Paper Shredder
- Letter Opener
- Board Shear
One particularly useful setup involves Brutalist.
If you can clear the board while you’re locked inside Brutalist, the letters that fall afterward can give you a large number of opportunities for natural crits.
It can still take luck, but this is much more manageable than simply waiting for four crits to randomly appear.
MBA
Requirement: Spell a 3-letter word.
Honestly, just play the game.
You’ll get this.
Modern Heart
Requirement: Use every tile while the board is locked.
This means using the entire board while you’re inside Brutalist.
Child is particularly useful here because Hole Punch makes it easier to manipulate the board.
Mood Screw
Requirement: Submit 4 or more words at once.
Child is easily the best choice.
Save up your Hole Punch charges, prepare the board, and then use them all together.
Make sure you’ve got enough vowels and don’t accidentally kill yourself by ignoring defense while setting everything up.
Pentameter
Requirement: Spell a 5-letter word five times in a row.
Five-letter words are common enough that you may get this without trying.
If you want to force it, simply focus on making five-letter words for five consecutive turns.
Perfect Metal Carapace
Requirement: Gain 20+ defense from tiles at once.
Bammon is a great enemy for this because of the amount of defense available from shimmering tiles.
Public Broadcast can also work because it can multiply plastic values.
Combine high-value plastic tiles with the appropriate mechanics and you can easily cross 20 defense.
Pyramid Scheme
Requirement: Beat two friends’ scores on a Daily Run.
This is one of the more social achievements.
You need to beat the scores of two friends on the same daily.
If you have friends who play the game, coordinate with them. Otherwise, you can potentially connect with other players and compare daily scores.
Quality of Life Adjustment
Requirement: Spell 500 unique words.
This will take time, but there’s not really a special trick.
Keep playing.
If you’ve spent enough time reaching the higher clearances, you’ll probably get there naturally.
Retz
Requirement: Heal an inner child.
This requires Age Regressor.
The idea is to deal negative damage using its negative tile slots.
Focus on defense and use wooden tiles on those negative slots to trigger the healing.
Rotary Dial
Requirement: Spell a 5+ letter word using only numbers.
Receiver is particularly useful here because of the number-heavy board.
Prole Service can also help.
Just make sure the word you’re submitting is made entirely from number tiles and don’t accidentally use a wildcard.
Challenge Achievements: S–W
Sealed Packet
Requirement: Use 4 chained tiles against Umami.
This one will probably happen naturally at some point.
If you’re struggling, Child is once again a useful choice because Hole Punch gives you extra control over the board.
Six Shooter
Requirement: Defeat New Cop during his second phase.
New Cop enters his second phase when he reaches 5 HP or less.
Bring him below that threshold and then defeat him without accidentally overkilling him before the phase activates.
This can also be useful defensively because triggering the second phase can cancel the attack that was queued.
Skinner Box
Requirement: Play the game for 8 hours.
You probably don’t need much help with this one.
Just keep playing.
Slashfic
Requirement: Submit a word containing at least 3 Yuri and 3 Yaoi tiles.
This is tied to the Paddlers.
Wildcards can make this considerably easier.
You’ll need a long enough word while still having enough of each tile type, so don’t be afraid to wait for a good board.
Sobriety Test
Requirement: Select 3 or more cursed spells in one run.
You need to play on Violet Clearance or higher.
The higher the clearance gets, the more frequently curses become part of the spell-selection system.
If you’re climbing through the clearances naturally, this should eventually happen without much effort.
Sockpuppet
Requirement: Submit a word containing a tile worth 9 or more.
Public Broadcast is the easiest way to accomplish this because of its tile multipliers.
Put a high-value letter such as J, Q, X, or Z into an appropriate multiplier slot.
With a strong enough multiplier, the tile can easily reach the required value.
SSN
Requirement: Win a Daily Run.
This is simply a normal victory, except you’re playing the daily challenge.
If the daily gives you a particularly nasty character/clearance combination, there’s nothing wrong with waiting for another day.
Taffy Hook
Requirement: Heal 26 HP with candy in a single run.
Jubilist is an excellent choice.
Focus on Defense Gifts that can produce candy and keep using them whenever possible.
Useful options include:
- Candy Cigarette
- Cotton Candy Tampon
- First Aid
- Party Ration
- Sorghum Pink
- Vampire Teeth
- Verification Can
The main thing is simply getting enough candy healing in one run.
Tumor
Requirement: Spell a 6+ letter word with 0 value.
Xrafstar is a great choice because Tarnished tiles naturally have zero value.
Build a six-letter word entirely from zero-value tiles.
Child can also help because you can submit the zero-value word alongside another useful word.
Sealed Packet can provide another route because its money tiles also have zero value.
Vampire Teeth
Requirement: Let Oenone have a snack.
When Oenone or Parasite uses the bite attack, simply don’t defend against it.
If she heals from the attack, you’ve done it correctly.
Verification Can
Requirement: Defeat Dew Jubilist without allowing acid to reach the bottom.
This is much easier on lower clearances.
Prioritize clearing the acid tiles, but don’t panic and start destroying the entire board.
On lower difficulties, the amount of acid being generated is much more manageable.
Wax Stamp
Requirement: Spell an 8+ letter word using 4 or fewer tiles.
This becomes easier on Blue Clearance and above because Bigrams start appearing naturally.
Trigrams are particularly useful because they let you pack several letters into a single tile.
Several tools can help:
- Clover
- Stapler
- Paradigm
- Copycat
- Proto-Cop
- Rubber Animal
- Sealed Packet
- 100 Cow Lead
- ICBM
- Razor Blade
- Gurolaga
The basic idea is to compress as many letters as possible into as few tiles as possible.
