The housekeeper confirms that she was.
She explains that she was tidying things up at around 8:47 when she discovered the dead body.
That makes her the first person to arrive and discover Charles.

The question asks:

At first, the evidence outside the house can make you think the killer used a window.
There are footprints around the outside, a ladder, and even a broken window. If you follow those clues, it’s pretty easy to assume Lucien climbed around the outside of the house and entered through the window.
That theory isn’t completely useless, but it isn’t the full story.
The actual answer involves a secret passage.
6. Find the Shed Key in Isabel’s Room
First, you need to get access to the shed.
Head to Isabel’s room and look around for the shed key.
If you’ve already picked it up, you obviously won’t see it again in your inventory location.
Once you have the key, head outside to the shed.
7. Investigate the Shed
Enter the shed and interact with the power box.
You’ll find that the power needs something before you can properly activate it.
This is where the investigation starts connecting to another hidden area of the house.
Instead of continuing to search randomly around the outside, go back inside and take another look at the map.
The map gives you a very useful clue.
8. Find the Secret Passage in the Office
Look at the map and you’ll notice a hidden-looking area marked around the house.
Now head to the office.
Once you’re inside the office, look around the area near the plug.
There is a hidden button behind it.
Interact with the button.
After you press it, the bookshelf begins to move. It can take a little while, so don’t assume you’ve done something wrong if it doesn’t move immediately.

Eventually, the bookshelf reveals a secret passage.
And this is the missing piece of the entire murder mystery.

The secret passage connects the office to the library, which is where Charles’ body was discovered.
