Roblox Escape Room has received a new map called Alcatraz: Behind Bars, and this time, we have to solve a lot of challenging puzzles to escape. The map is quite large, and some puzzles can be confusing if you do not know where to look for clues. I recently completed this escape room, and some of the puzzles took me a long time to figure out.
In this guide, I will show you how to complete the Alcatraz: Behind Bars map step by step. We will solve the number codes, arrow puzzles, electrical circuits, symbol sequences, moon puzzles, telephone puzzle, pipe connections, and the final challenges. I will also explain where to find the hidden items and how to use them to unlock new areas.
Roblox Escape Room Alcatraz Behind Bars Walkthrough
If you are stuck on any puzzle or want to complete the entire map without wasting hours trying different combinations, this walkthrough will help you. Follow each step carefully, note down the important codes, and make sure you collect every key, letter, and wire along the way.
1. Solve the First Number Puzzle
When you start Alcatraz: Behind Bars, your first task is to solve a number puzzle that opens a cupboard. You will see three symbols, and each symbol has a mathematical operation next to it.
The idea is to identify the number represented by each symbol and then perform the required calculation.
How to Solve the First Code
Look at the three symbols and calculate their values:
- The first symbol is 7, and you need to add 2 to it. Therefore, 7 + 2 = 9.
- The second symbol represents 3, and the instruction is to multiply it by 5. Therefore, 3 × 5 = 15.
- The third symbol represents 6, and you need to subtract 3. Therefore, 6 − 3 = 3.
Put the resulting numbers together to get the code 9153.
Enter 9153 into the keypad. If you enter it correctly, the cupboard will open, allowing you to access the controls for the next puzzle.
2. Complete the Arrow Direction Puzzle
After opening the first cupboard, you will find a puzzle involving several arrows. You need to look at the arrows displayed outside the cupboard and rotate the corresponding arrows using the buttons inside.
This puzzle is straightforward once you understand that the arrows inside must match the directions shown outside.
Arrow Directions
Set the five arrows according to the following directions:
- First arrow: Top-left.
- Second arrow: Top-right.
- Third arrow: Left.
- Fourth arrow: Down.
- Fifth arrow: Bottom-right.
Use the buttons inside the cupboard to rotate each arrow until it matches the required direction. Some arrows may require multiple button presses, so check their positions carefully before moving on.
Once all five arrows are in the correct positions, the next set of buttons becomes available.
3. Match the Green Buttons to Restore Electricity
After completing the arrow puzzle, you will find a button puzzle with green indicators.
Your task is to reproduce the same pattern using the available buttons. Carefully compare the green indicators with the buttons you can press and activate the matching ones.
The important thing here is to follow the displayed pattern rather than randomly pressing buttons. Once the pattern is correct, electricity will be restored to the nearby levers.
Activate All Four Levers
After restoring the electricity, you need to activate all four levers quickly.
Make sure you are ready before starting. Turn on the four levers one after another without waiting too long between presses.
If you activate them successfully, another cupboard will open. Inside, you will find a second arrow-based combination puzzle.
4. Open the Second Cupboard Using Arrow Counts
Inside the newly opened cupboard, you will see four directional buttons. Each direction must be pressed a specific number of times.
Follow this exact sequence:
| Arrow direction | Number of presses |
|---|---|
| Top-left | 7 |
| Bottom-right | 3 |
| Bottom-left | 2 |
| Top-right | 5 |
Press each button the required number of times. Count carefully because an extra press could cause you to enter the wrong combination.
Once you finish the sequence, the next cupboard will open.
5. Solve the Poster Puzzle to Get the Code 7914
The next puzzle requires you to examine a poster containing several circles. Some portions of the circles are highlighted, and each highlighted section represents a number.
I recommend taking a screenshot of the poster so you can inspect the circles more easily. This makes the puzzle much simpler because you can compare the highlighted sections without repeatedly moving around the room.
Calculate the First Digit
Look at the first group of circles. The highlighted portions represent the numbers 1, 2, and 4.
Add them together:
1 + 2 + 4 = 7.
Therefore, the first digit is 7.
Calculate the Second Digit
The second group contains two highlighted circles representing 5 and 4.
Add them together:
5 + 4 = 9.
The second digit is 9.
Calculate the Third Digit
The third group contains highlighted portions representing 1, 9, and 4. According to the walkthrough, their combined value gives the final digit as 14.
This part of the recording is unclear because the displayed result is described as both 14 and a single keypad digit. The spoken walkthrough ultimately identifies the complete code as 7914.
Enter 7914 into the keypad. This opens the door to the next section of the prison.
6. Solve the Shape Equation
After passing through the door, you will reach another area containing a mathematical equation made from shapes.
The equation uses a black square, a circle, a diamond, and a white circle. You need to find the numerical value of each symbol before you can solve the equation.
The clues for these values are located in the previous area, so you may need to return there.
Find the Symbol Values
According to the walkthrough, the clues reveal the following values:
- Circle = 2.
- Square = 90.
- Diamond = 1,180.
- White circle = 50.
The equation involves multiplying the square value by the circle value, adding the diamond value, and subtracting the white circle value.
Using the values stated in the recording:
90 × 2 = 180.
However, the next spoken calculation is unclear. The walkthrough concludes that the code is 1130, so use that code at the keypad in the next area.
Enter 1130 and continue through the unlocked section.
7. Complete the Alphabet Grid Puzzle
Once you reach the next puzzle area, you will find a grid containing letters and numbers. You need to use the numbers you have collected to determine which letters to mark.
The puzzle requires you to match each number with its corresponding letter position. Follow the sequence carefully rather than selecting letters randomly.
Mark the Letters in Order
Use the following sequence from the walkthrough:
- 1H
- 2E
- 2R
- 3E
- 4Y
- 3O
- 4U
- 5W
- 7I
- 7L
- 6L
- 5S
- 5T
- 6A
- 7Y
These letter combinations form the message HERE YOU WILL STAY.
Mark the corresponding positions on the grid. Once the sequence has been entered correctly, you can move on to the next puzzle.
8. Enter the Code 189
The next puzzle can be confusing because one of the symbols looks like an X. I initially found this part difficult to understand, but the solution becomes much clearer once you identify the correct digit.
The important clue is that the symbol that looks like an X actually represents the number 8.
The completed code is 189.
Find the keypad in the next section and enter 189. This activates a set of lights that reveal a new symbol sequence.
9. Follow the Symbol Path and Pull the Levers
After entering 189, several symbols will light up. These include triangles, circles, squares, and hearts.
You need to follow the path shown by the lights and record the symbols in the correct order. Do not simply read the symbols as a random collection; the path continues through the room, and you must follow it from beginning to end.
Record the Symbol Sequence
According to the walkthrough, the sequence is:
- Triangle
- Circle
- Square
- Circle
- Triangle
- Square
- Heart
- Triangle
- Square
- Heart
- Triangle
- Square
- Heart
Once you have recorded the sequence, return to the lever area.
Pull the Levers in the Correct Order
Activate the levers according to the symbols in the sequence. Make sure you follow the order exactly, especially where the triangle, square, and heart symbols repeat.
When you complete the sequence correctly, a wire will become available.
Collect the wire and carry it back to the other side of the room. Find the connection point and attach the wire to restore the electrical connection.
10. Shut Off the Broken Pipe Valves
After connecting the wire, return to the other side and flip the nearby lever.
This activates the next challenge. Pipes will begin breaking, and you will need to shut off the valves to stop the problem from spreading.
The room contains valves on both sides, so you need to move between the areas and inspect them carefully.
How to Reach 100%
Watch the television screen, which displays your progress as you shut off the valves.
Look for the valves that are highlighted and interact with them to turn them off. Continue moving between both sides of the room, checking for the next active valve each time.
The walkthrough notes that the sound can help you identify the correct valve, but you can also complete the challenge by watching for visual highlights.
Keep shutting off the valves until the television screen reaches 100%.
Once the progress reaches 100%, the doors will open and you can continue to the next room.
11. Solve the Moon Symbol Puzzle
The next room contains one of the hardest puzzles in the entire Alcatraz: Behind Bars map.
You will see a cupboard with a numerical lock, several moon symbols, and a poster explaining a relationship between colored symbols.
The poster indicates that green plus red equals blue. You need to use this information to identify the correct values of the moon symbols and determine the four-digit code.
I recommend taking your time here. This puzzle is much more complicated than the earlier number combinations because several symbols initially appear to be possible matches.
Understand the Moon Symbols
For this puzzle, you will encounter different moon shapes, including full moons, half moons, and partially illuminated moons.
Each symbol represents a particular percentage. Compare the moon shapes on the puzzle with the matching colored symbols around the room.
The first digit is particularly confusing because the initial comparisons suggest that it could be either 8 or 9. Do not assume that the first possible answer is automatically correct.
Determine the Second Digit
The walkthrough identifies 7 as the only possible value for the second digit.
The other moon combinations do not match the available symbols, so you can eliminate those possibilities.
Therefore, the second digit is 7.
Determine the Remaining Digits
After identifying the second digit, use the elimination method to solve the remaining positions.
The walkthrough explains the logic as follows:
- The second digit is 7.
- The fourth digit must be 8.
- Since 8 is already used in the fourth position, it cannot occupy that position elsewhere.
- The third digit must therefore be 9.
- Since 9 is used in the third position, the remaining first digit is 4 according to the elimination explanation.
However, this explanation contains an inconsistency: the spoken walkthrough’s final answer is 9748, while its elimination steps do not consistently support that order. The code explicitly entered in the video is 9748.
Enter 9748 into the keypad to open the cupboard.
12. Solve the Ringing Telephone Puzzle
Once the cupboard opens, you will find a telephone. When you interact with it, the phone rings in a sequence that corresponds to four numbered positions.
Your task is to record the order in which the phones ring, convert the numbers into directions, and reproduce the resulting path on the directional puzzle nearby.
Record the Telephone Sequence
The walkthrough identifies the following numbers while checking the ringing phones:
- 4, 4
- 3, 1
- 3, 3
- 4, 4
- 2
- 4, 4, 2, 1, 2, 4
Listen or observe carefully as you interact with the telephones. The direction associated with each number depends on the position of the corresponding phone.
Convert the Numbers Into Directions
Once you have recorded the sequence, translate the numbers into their corresponding directions.
The route described in the walkthrough is:
- Start at the designated starting point.
- Move right.
- Move right again.
- Move up.
- Move left.
- Move up.
- Move up again.
- Move right.
- Move right again.
- Move down.
- Move right.
- Move down.
- Move left.
- Move down.
- Move right.
Follow the route carefully on the directional puzzle. If you make a mistake, return to the beginning and repeat the sequence.
Completing the path correctly will open the next door.
13. Connect the Pipes to Restore Power
In the next room, you will encounter a pipe-connection puzzle. Your goal is to rotate the pipe sections until the power flows from the starting point to the destination.
This puzzle takes some patience because rotating one pipe can change the direction of the connection.
Rotate the Correct Pipe Sections
The walkthrough describes the following sequence of adjustments:
- Rotate pipe F.
- Rotate pipe E so the connection moves toward the required path.
- Rotate pipe A to redirect the power.
- Rotate pipe D to complete the connection.
Watch the power indicator as you rotate each pipe. You should be able to see whether the electricity is moving closer to the destination.
The exact number of rotations for every pipe is not fully clear in the recording, so use the visible connections to check your progress.
Once the power reaches the correct point, a screen will display a date.
14. Enter the Date Code 27072025
After restoring power, look at the screen. It displays the date 27 July 2025.
According to the walkthrough, this is a fixed date rather than a date that changes for each player.
Enter the date in the format shown in the recording:
27072025
Once you enter the correct date, the next section opens.
Collect the letter that becomes available and keep it with you. You will need it later in the walkthrough.
15. Find the Five Words Inside the Ventilation System
After opening the next section, you will need to explore the ventilation system to find five words.
The words are:
- Happy
- Love
- Rejection
- Pain
- End
Each word is associated with a number. You must find all five numbers and combine them in the correct order to unlock another area.
Before entering the vents, make sure you have collected the letter from the previous room.
Find Love
Enter the ventilation system and begin searching the passages.
The first word identified in the walkthrough is Love, which corresponds to the number 8.
Write this down before moving on.
Find End
Continue through the vent until you find the word End.
The number associated with End is 6. Be careful when reading it because the number appears upside down, which can make it look like a 9.
The correct value is 6.
Find Rejection
Continue exploring until you find Rejection.
This word is located around the middle of the vent section and corresponds to the number 0.
At this point, you have found three of the five words.
Search the Other Vent for Happy and Pain
The remaining two words are not in the same vent section, so do not waste time searching the same passages repeatedly.
Exit the first vent area and use the ladder you collected earlier to enter the other ventilation section.
Look for Happy, which corresponds to the number 9. Like End, this number is displayed upside down, so check its orientation carefully.
Finally, find Pain, which corresponds to the number 5.
Enter the Ventilation Code
Now combine the numbers in the order required by the puzzle:
| Word | Number |
|---|---|
| Happy | 9 |
| Love | 8 |
| Rejection | 0 |
| Pain | 5 |
| End | 6 |
The final code is 98056.
Enter 98056 into the keypad to obtain a wire.
16. Collect the Wire and Unlock the Hidden Vent Area
After entering 98056, collect the wire from the newly opened compartment.
You need to take this wire back into the ventilation system and connect it to the appropriate connection point.
Once the wire is attached, a previously locked section of the vents becomes accessible.
Open the New Passage
Return to the ventilation system and move to the right.
You should now find an area that was inaccessible earlier. Enter this newly opened passage and look for a way to jump down into the room below.
After dropping down, you will see a highlighted button.
Press the button to open the door and gain access to the next area.
17. Complete the Jigsaw Puzzle and Collect the Key
You are now getting close to the final part of the map.
In this room, you will find a jigsaw puzzle. Compared with the moon puzzle and telephone sequence, this one is relatively easy.
Move the pieces into their correct positions until the complete image is formed.
When the image is assembled correctly, the puzzle will reward you with a key.
Make sure you collect the key before moving on, because you will need it to unlock a nearby compartment.
18. Solve the Book and Number Puzzle
Use the key to open the nearby lock. Inside, you will find clues involving colored books and numerical values.
You need to identify the values associated with the different colors, solve the number combinations, and use the bookshelf clue to calculate the final code.
This puzzle can be confusing because you have to combine information from several locations.
Find the Upper Number
The walkthrough identifies the green symbol as the number 3.
The yellow symbol represents multiplication, and the calculation described in the video leads to the upper value 664.
Keep this number written down because it is required for the next step.
Find the Lower Number
Next, look at the lower section of the puzzle.
The blue symbol represents 2, and the walkthrough identifies the following sequence of values:
2, 4, 3, 2.
The pink symbol represents addition, while the yellow symbol is used for the multiplication-related clue.
The spoken calculation in this section is difficult to follow, but the walkthrough gives the lower number as 6854.
Write down both numbers:
- Upper number: 664
- Lower number: 6854
Use the Bookshelf Clue
Now inspect the bookshelf. The important clue is the cross displayed on the lower section.
The walkthrough uses the number 6 for this part of the calculation.
Apply the following operations to the lower number:
- First digit: 4 + 6 = 10.
- Second digit: Keep the digit unchanged.
- Third digit: 6 − 5 = 1.
- Fourth digit: 6 − 4 = 2.
The spoken recording is unclear about the exact arrangement of the first two digits, but the code entered in the video is 10812.
Enter 10812 into the keypad to open the next section.
19. Solve the Hidden Numbers Behind the Curtain
After entering the bookshelf code, you will find an image with a curtain.
Interact with the curtain to reveal hidden numbers. The next task is to calculate the missing values using the rule that the four numbers in each group must add up to 10.
Calculate the Four Digits
The walkthrough identifies the following results:
- First digit: 3.
- Second digit: 0.
- Third digit: 2.
- Fourth digit: 5.
For the first group, the visible values add up to 7, so the missing value is 3.
For the second group, the numbers already total 10, so the missing value is 0.
For the third group, the visible numbers require a missing value of 2 to reach the required total.
For the fourth group, the missing value is 5.
The resulting code is 3025.
Enter 3025 into the keypad. This unlocks another section of the ventilation system.
20. Enter the Vents and Reach the Final Room
After entering 3025, return to the ventilation system again.
You will discover that another passage has opened. Follow this passage to reach the final room.
Before proceeding, take a moment to look around. You can turn off the lasers by pressing the nearby button, making it easier to move through the room.
There are still several puzzles to complete, but you are now close to finishing Alcatraz: Behind Bars.
21. Solve the Final Five-Digit Code
In the final room, look for a poster that provides clues to five digits.
Each digit is represented by a different object or visual clue around the room. You need to interpret the clues in order and combine their values to produce the code.
First Digit: The Unusual Number on the Poster
The first clue points toward a poster displaying the characters C51.
Look carefully at the number 5 because it is written differently from the other characters. This unusual formatting indicates that 5 is the digit you need.
Therefore, the first digit is 5.
Second Digit: Find the Poster Showing 9
The second clue points toward another poster in the room.
Follow the direction indicated by the clue until you find the relevant poster. The number shown there is 9.
The second digit is 9.
Third Digit: Draw the Shape
The third clue requires you to connect the letters A, B, C, D, and E.
Imagine drawing lines between these points. The resulting pattern forms four shapes.
Therefore, the third digit is 4.
Fourth Digit: Identify the Zero
The fourth clue points toward a poster that resembles the number 0.
Use this as the fourth digit.
Fifth Digit: Read the Clock
The final clue refers to the hour and minute displayed on a clock.
The clock shows 10:10. Add the hour and minute values as instructed:
10 + 10 = 20.
Therefore, the final value is 20.
Enter the Final Room Code
Combine the values in order:
594020
The walkthrough describes the code as 5940 followed by 20, making it a six-digit sequence rather than a five-digit code. Enter 594020 if the keypad accepts six digits, and check the on-screen clues if the lock requires a different format.
Once the code is accepted, you will receive a key.
22. Use the Key and Connect the Final Wire
Collect the key after solving the code puzzle.
Use it to open the nearby lock, then pick up the wire in the room.
Connect the wire to the highlighted connection point and activate the lever.
This prepares the room for the final puzzle.
If nothing happens immediately, look for the nearby button marked to start the challenge. In the walkthrough, the final puzzle did not activate until the button was pressed.
23. Solve the Final Word Puzzle
Press the start button to activate the last major puzzle.
You will see several questions or phrases, and you must find the corresponding letters displayed on the roof. Use those letters to determine the answers.
This puzzle relies on observation rather than arithmetic, so read each phrase carefully and compare it with the letters around the room.
First Clue: Sadness
The first clue is associated with the word Sadness.
Look at the letters displayed on the roof and identify the matching answer.
Second Clue: “Do You Even Know What I Went Through?”
The next phrase asks whether someone understands what you went through.
Look at the letters on the roof. The walkthrough points out the letters O and N as part of the clue.
Use the available letters to determine the correct response rather than guessing a phrase that sounds natural.
Third Clue: “How Does That Make You Feel?”
The next question asks how something makes you feel.
The answer shown in the walkthrough is LOST.
Enter the answer using the letters displayed around the room.
Fourth Clue: “Do You Remember Me?”
The final question asks whether you remember the person speaking.
The correct answer is WHO ARE YOU?
Be careful not to confuse this with “How are you?” The walkthrough notes that this was an easy mistake to make when solving the puzzle.
Enter the correct answer to open the door.
24. Find the Remaining Items in the Final Area
After completing the word puzzle, the door will open and you can jump into the next area.
However, the escape is not quite finished yet. You still need to find several hidden items in the large room.
The walkthrough identifies three remaining items:
- An ear.
- A foot.
- A bow tie.
Find the Ear
Search the room for the highlighted ear. The walkthrough finds it shortly after entering the area.
Collect it and continue searching.
Find the Foot
Next, look for the foot in the room. Check the surrounding area carefully because the room is large and the object can be easy to overlook.
Collect the foot once you find it.
Find the Bow Tie
The bow tie is located on a chair in the room.
Approach the chair, collect the bow tie, and make sure you have gathered all three items before finishing.
Once the ear, foot, and bow tie have been collected, you should be able to complete the remaining objective and finish the Alcatraz: Behind Bars escape room.

Roblox Escape Room: Alcatraz: Behind Bars is a challenging map with a wide variety of puzzles, from simple mathematical codes to complicated symbol sequences and hidden-object challenges. Some sections are easy to complete, while others require careful observation and a lot of trial and error.
The moon puzzle, telephone directions, ventilation codes, and bookshelf calculations are among the most confusing parts, but taking screenshots and writing down the clues makes the experience much easier. I also recommend checking every corner of the rooms because some important items are hidden away from the main puzzle.
Hopefully, this complete walkthrough helps you finish Alcatraz: Behind Bars without getting stuck for hours. If a code does not work, double-check the clue and the keypad format, especially in the sections where the spoken calculations are unclear.
Good luck escaping Alcatraz, and enjoy the rest of the Roblox Escape Room experience!
