If you’re playing Sandustry, you’ll quickly realize that knowing what each material turns into can save you a lot of time. There are plenty of machines, resources, and production chains to keep track of, and it can be easy to forget which material you need for the next step.
In this guide, I’ll go through the important Sandustry material conversions, including the main factory chain, Fluxite production, batteries, power generation, creature conversions, and some of the smaller recipes you may need later.
I’ve kept everything organized by production chain, so you can quickly check a recipe when you get stuck instead of searching through your factory trying to remember what comes next.
Sandustry Material Conversion Guide – All Recipes & Production Chains
Your main production chain starts with something very simple: sand. From there, you can gradually turn basic materials into gold, flowers, Florin, Florinol, Aurixite, Auralite, and finally Aura.
Here is the full chain:
Sand + Water → Wet Sand
Once you have Wet Sand, process it with the shaker:
Wet Sand + Shaker → Gold + Residue
The Residue can then be processed using fire:
Residue + Fire → Burnt Residue
Next, put the Burnt Residue through the kinetic press:
Burnt Residue + Kinetic Press → Gold + Seed
Now take the Seed and add water:
Seed + Water → Wet Seed
The Wet Seed can be placed in the planter:
Wet Seed + Planter → Plants/Flowers
Once you have flowers, use fire on them:
Flowers + Fire → Gold + Amethelist
The Amethelist then needs to be dried:
Amethelist + Steam Dryer → Dry Amethelist
After that, process the Dry Amethelist with fire:
Dry Amethelist + Fire → Florin
The Florin can then go into the condenser:
Florin + Condenser → Gold + Florinol
From here, the production chain continues with the synthesizer:
Florinol + Synthesizer → Aurixite
Put the Aurixite into a shaker:
Aurixite + Shaker → Auralite
Finally, process the Auralite with an Aura Extractor:
Auralite + Aura Extractor → Aura
So, if you’re trying to reach Aura from the basic starting material, the overall path is:
Sand → Wet Sand → Residue → Burnt Residue → Seed → Wet Seed → Plants/Flowers → Amethelist → Dry Amethelist → Florin → Florinol → Aurixite → Auralite → Aura
Fluxite Production
Fluxite has its own production chain and starts with a Void Rift.
First, interact with the Void Rift to obtain:
Void Rift → Void Seed
Next, place the Void Seed into a planter:
Void Seed + Planter → Void Flower Soil
This produces a plant-like structure that you can mine.
Mine the Void Flower Soil to obtain:
Void Flower Soil → Void Petal
The Void Petal can then be combined with Red Sand:
Void Petal + Red Sand → Voidbloom
Finally, combine the Voidbloom with more Red Sand:
Voidbloom + Red Sand → Fluxite
The complete Fluxite chain is:
Void Rift → Void Seed → Void Flower Soil → Void Petal → Voidbloom → Fluxite
If you’re working toward Fluxite, make sure you have enough Red Sand ready because it is used in the final two conversion steps.
Florinol Battery
You can also use Florinol with a battery to create a useful conversion loop.
When a Florinol battery has its energy removed, you get:
Florinol − Energy → Florinol Soil
The Florinol Soil can then be exposed to fire:
Florinol Soil + Fire → Florinol
One useful detail here is that you can actually set the Florinol Soil on fire while it is inside the battery.
This gives you a way to turn the material back into Florinol after using its stored energy.
Copper Battery
Copper has its own battery-related conversion.
First, process Copper through a smelter:
Copper + Smelter → Liquid Copper
Then place the Liquid Copper into a Copper Mold:
Liquid Copper + Copper Mold → Energy Storage
This creates the stored energy needed for the Copper Battery.
There is also a useful trick if you need to move the battery. If you remove the Copper Mold, the remaining Copper can be collected and smelted again.
So you don’t necessarily lose the Copper just because you need to reposition the battery.
Power Loop
If you’re looking for a way to generate energy from water and lava, you can create a simple power loop.
Start with:
Lava + Water → Steam
Then send the Steam through a Steam Turbine:
Steam + Steam Turbine → Energy
The Steam can also be processed through a condenser:
Steam + Condenser → Water
This gives you the basic loop:
Lava + Water → Steam → Energy
and:
Steam → Water
The important thing is that you should produce a Copper Battery before setting up this loop. The battery gives you somewhere to store the energy you’re generating.
Once you have the battery ready, the steam setup becomes much more useful because you’re not simply producing energy with nowhere to keep it.
Other Material Conversions
There are a few smaller recipes that don’t fit into the main production chains but are still worth remembering.
Moon Petal
Combine Moon Petal with a Moonhop:
Moon Petal + Moonhop → Voidjuice
Snow
Snow can be produced by using a Snowmaker:
Water + Snowmaker → Snow
These recipes are simple, but they’re easy to overlook when you’re working on a larger production setup.
Creature Conversions
Creatures can also be used as sources of different materials.
Here are the current creature conversions:
Lumling → Water
Lumling can be converted into Water.
Shinelet → Light
Shinelet provides Light.
Redweaver → Red Sand
Redweaver can be converted into Red Sand, making it useful when you’re working on the Fluxite production chain.
Voidgrazer → Void Husk → Voidjuice
Voidgrazer produces Void Husk, which can then be used to obtain Voidjuice.
Voltblub → Energy
Voltblub can provide Energy while it is placed on a Power Brick.

Sandustry has a lot of different materials and machines, but the production system becomes much easier once you understand how the chains connect. The main factory starts with Sand and eventually leads all the way to Aura, while other resources such as Fluxite and Voidjuice follow their own separate paths.
I recommend keeping this conversion list open while you’re building your factory, especially when you’re working with materials you haven’t used for a while. It can save you a lot of backtracking and help you figure out exactly which machine or resource you need next.
As the game receives updates, some recipes may change or new conversions may be added, so I’ll keep this guide focused on the currently known material chains.
