If you’re playing Scratch the Ticket and wondering what all the shop items actually do, this guide will help you understand the purpose of each upgrade and which ones can make your ticket scratching much easier.
The shop contains several different categories, including lighting fixtures, special coins, lottery printers, receivers, and chemistry equipment. Some items help you reveal hidden information on tickets, while others improve your scratching speed, rewards, or access to new lottery tickets.
I’ll go through each item below and explain what it does and how you can use it.
Lighting Fixtures
The lighting fixtures are some of the most useful purchases in Scratch the Ticket because they give you different ways to inspect tickets without simply scratching everything away.
There are currently three important lighting tools: the UV Flashlight, UFO, and Weak LED Panel.
UV Flashlight
The UV Flashlight allows you to reveal hidden UV marks on your scratch tickets.
After purchasing it, pick up the flashlight and you’ll see a percentage displayed above it. This percentage represents the chance that your scratch ticket contains UV writing.
The chance is connected to the number of Spies you have hired through the Upgrades tab on your computer.
The more spies you hire, the better your chance of receiving a ticket with UV writing.
So, if you’re planning to make regular use of the UV Flashlight, upgrading your spies can make the flashlight considerably more useful over time.
UFO
The UFO is a more unusual way to inspect tickets.
After purchasing it, the UFO works on a rechargeable cooldown. It takes approximately 5.5 minutes to recharge.
When you activate it, a UFO appears above your desk and lets you hold one ticket while it is active.
The UFO exposes the scratching surface of the tickets on your table for around 10 seconds.
There is one important catch: any other tickets that you aren’t holding can be abducted by the UFO.
So, if you’re using the UFO, make sure you’re paying attention to which ticket you want to inspect.
Weak LED Panel
The Weak LED Panel is designed to help you inspect defective tickets.
After buying it, you need to turn the panel on and place a ticket on top of it.
Some defective tickets have poor scratching surfaces, and the LED panel can allow you to see what is underneath that surface.
This makes it another useful tool for identifying what is hidden inside certain tickets without fully scratching them.
Coins
The coin upgrades are designed to make scratching faster by increasing how much of the ticket you can scratch at once.
The Base Coin is the first coin you unlock, so its size is used as the reference point for the other coins.
Base Coin
The Base Coin is described as the “Lucky Masonic Coin.”
It scratches approximately 2% of the ticket’s surface area with each use.
It isn’t the fastest option, but it gives you the basic scratching ability you’ll use before unlocking the better coins.
Etherium Coin
The Etherium Coin scratches a much larger area than the Base Coin.
It covers approximately 7% of the surface area, making it roughly three times larger than the Base Coin.
If you’re trying to reveal tickets more quickly, this is a noticeable improvement.
Bitcoin Coin
The Bitcoin Coin is the largest of the three regular scratching coins.
It scratches approximately 25% of the ticket’s surface area.
That makes it dramatically faster than the Base Coin and useful when you want to uncover large sections of a ticket quickly.
Coin Stand
The Coin Stand is a special item that works with the three coins you’ve unlocked.
Once you purchase it, you need to place the Base Coin, Etherium Coin, and Bitcoin Coin onto the stand.
Doing this performs a ritual that summons a voodoo-like mask.
Once the mask appears, you can put it on and use it to see underneath the scratching surface of tickets on your desk.
The effect is similar to the UFO because it lets you see hidden information without directly scratching the ticket.
However, the Coin Stand has a 4.5-minute cooldown, and the mask only gives you around 2 seconds to see underneath the scratching surface.
One useful improvement is that the coin slots were changed from the original release. Previously, you had to position the three coins very precisely. Now, the coins lock into place using a green placement preview, making the process much easier.
Lottery Printers and Receiver
The lottery printers are important if you want to unlock more types of tickets.
They allow you to print tickets that you’ve purchased through the Tickets tab on your computer.
The better your printer, the more ticket types become available.
Cheap Printer
The Cheap Printer is the basic printer.
It allows you to print up to three types of tickets that you purchase from the Tickets tab.
The available tickets are:
- Sixth Sense
- Black Jack
- Golden Pick
It’s a good starting point if you’re still working your way through the game’s progression.
Upgraded Receiver
The Upgraded Receiver improves your payouts.
Once purchased, it can increase your payouts by up to 30%.
This bonus can also stack with MOM’s temporary +30% increased payout effect.
So, if you’re trying to maximize your earnings, the receiver becomes particularly valuable when combined with other payout bonuses.
Advanced Printer
The Advanced Printer expands your available ticket selection.
It unlocks the second section of tickets on your computer and allows you to access up to six additional ticket types.
The available tickets include:
- Sixth Sense
- Lucky Slot
- Black Jack
- Russian Roulette
- Golden Pick
- Miner
Some tickets are marked as unlocked through progression, so you may need to meet the appropriate requirements before everything becomes available.
Elite Printer
The Elite Printer takes things another step further.
It unlocks the third section of the Tickets tab and gives you access to up to eight ticket types.
The available tickets are:
- Sixth Sense
- Lucky Wheel
- Lucky Slot
- Black Jack
- Russian Roulette
- Golden Pick
- Miner
- Sea Battle
This is the printer to aim for if you want access to a much larger selection of lottery tickets and higher-value progression options.
Chemist Set
The Chemist Set gives you another method of looking underneath scratch tickets without damaging them.
This category is particularly useful if you’re trying to inspect valuable tickets while keeping the scratching surface intact.
The main tools here are the X-Ray Drops, X-Ray Liquid, and Microscope.
X-Ray Drops
The X-Ray Drops allow you to reveal what’s underneath the scratching surface using a special bioluminescent liquid.
After purchasing the item, hover over the cap until it highlights green, then pick up the dropper.
When you move the dropper over a ticket, you’ll see a guideline showing where the liquid will be placed.
Once you’re positioned correctly, hold the right mouse button to squeeze the dropper.
The liquid will then expose what is underneath the scratching surface.
This is a useful way to inspect tickets without having to scratch away the surface normally.
How to Get More Bioluminescent Drops
Your dropper needs bioluminescent liquid to work, and you can refill it by collecting fireflies that occasionally appear on your desk.
Fireflies can spawn in several locations:
- On top of the ticket printer
- Up to two can appear on the red telephone
- On top of the ticket receiver
They remain on your desk until you interact with them.
Clicking a firefly gives you +1 bioluminescent drop.
So, whenever you notice fireflies appearing around your desk, it’s worth collecting them so you don’t run out of liquid when you want to inspect a valuable ticket.
X-Ray Liquid
X-Ray Liquid is an upgrade for your dropper.
Purchasing it immediately increases your storage capacity by 20 bioluminescence drops and fills the storage to its new maximum.
This is particularly useful if you regularly use X-Ray Drops because you can hold much more liquid before needing to collect more fireflies.
Microscope
The Microscope is another tool that works with fireflies.
After purchasing it, you can use the microscope on fireflies to smash them and collect more bioluminescent drops.
Normally, interacting with a firefly gives you one drop. Using the microscope increases the reward to +3 bioluminescent drops per firefly.
This makes the Microscope a useful upgrade if you’re relying heavily on the X-Ray Drops system.
