If you’re jumping into Shinobi Reborn for the first time, it can feel a little confusing. The game doesn’t explain every mechanic, and since it’s still fairly new, there are a few systems you’ll discover as you play. The good news is that getting started is actually pretty simple once you know what to focus on.
One mistake I see a lot of new players make is trying to rush everything. Right now, the game rewards steady progression much more than trying to speed through content. If you spend your first hour doing the right missions and unlocking skills properly, you’ll progress much faster than someone constantly jumping between activities.
This guide covers everything you should do from the moment you create your character until you’re ready for higher-rank missions.
Create Your Character and Check Your Clan
After launching the game, you’ll enter the customization menu. Take a few minutes to customize your character’s appearance, including hair, clothes, and other cosmetic options.
Once you move to the next page, you’ll see something much more important—your Clan.
Here you’ll find:
- Your Clan
- Clan Traits
- Clan Perks
- Clan Rarity
Some clans are much rarer than others. Legendary clans like Uchiha and Hyuga come with unique abilities that become stronger as you progress.

Learn the Main Menu First
As soon as you spawn into the world, press M to open the main menu.

Spend a minute clicking through each tab so you know where everything is. It’ll save you time later.
Start With D-Rank Missions
Your first objective should always be completing D-Rank Missions.

M → Missions → D-Rank

One of the first missions simply asks you to clean the office. It doesn’t sound exciting, but it gives a quick chunk of experience and helps you reach Level 2 almost immediately.
Don’t ignore these early missions—they’re designed to introduce the game while giving easy experience.
Spend Your First Skill Point
Once you reach Level 2, you’ll earn your first Skill Point (SP).
Open:
M → Skill Tree
The Skill Tree contains several sections, including:
- Fire Style
- Water Style
- Other Elements
- Clan Skills
- Clan Modes
Every level gives you another Skill Point.
Hover over any skill to see:
- Skill Point requirement
- Unlock requirements
- Ability description
For example, if you unlock Fireball, it’ll automatically appear on your hotbar and can be used immediately.
Don’t worry about making the perfect build early on. Focus on unlocking your first few offensive abilities so missions become much faster.
Understand How the Skill Tree Works
The Skill Tree isn’t just a list of random abilities.
It’s a progression path.
The skills at the top unlock first, while stronger techniques further down require earlier abilities before they become available.
Instead of trying to save Skill Points forever, keep unlocking the path toward stronger moves. You’ll naturally gain more Skill Points as you level.
Switch to C-Rank Missions at Level 3
Once you reach around Level 3, it’s time to move on.
Open:
M → Missions → C-Rank
These missions reward noticeably more XP than D-Rank missions.
One common C-Rank mission sends you into a forest where you’ll collect roots. They’re simple, quick, and far more efficient for leveling.
At this stage, your goal is speed.
Complete the objective.
Return.
Accept another mission.
Repeat.
Skip B-Rank Missions for Now
This is probably the biggest leveling tip for new players.
Although B-Rank Missions give more experience per completion, they also take much longer.
Because of that, repeatedly farming C-Rank Missions actually gives better experience over time.
Stay with C-Rank missions until around Level 8 instead of immediately moving into B-Rank content.
It’s one of the easiest ways to level faster.
Become a Genin
Eventually you’ll notice that A-Rank Missions are locked.
That’s because you first need to become a Genin.
Every new player starts as an Academy Student.
To rank up, simply attend the Academy classes.
Classes appear automatically as pop-up notifications asking whether you’d like to join.
When one appears:
- Accept it.
- Finish the lesson.
- Repeat.
You’ll only need to complete three classes before earning the Genin rank.
The lessons don’t take very long, so it’s worth doing them as soon as they become available.
Unlock A-Rank Missions
After becoming a Genin, you’ll finally gain access to A-Rank Missions.
These offer significantly better rewards and become your primary source of experience for a long time.
Once A-Rank missions are available, focus most of your leveling around them instead of going back to lower ranks.
Complete the Chunin Exams
After reaching Genin, you’ll occasionally receive a notification inviting you to the Chunin Exams.
A message will appear on your screen asking whether you’d like to participate.
Passing these exams promotes your character to Chunin, opening up even more progression opportunities.
If you’re serious about advancing your character, don’t ignore these exams when they appear.
Continue Progressing Into Higher-Rank Content
As your level increases, you’ll eventually unlock even tougher activities, including:
- S-Rank Missions
- S+ Rank Missions
- PvP Missions
In general, it’s worth prioritizing whichever mission gives the best experience while still being manageable for your current build.
There’s no reason to struggle through extremely difficult content if slightly easier missions can be completed much faster.
Unlock Your Clan’s Special Powers
One of the most exciting progression systems is your Clan Skill Tree.
Each clan unlocks unique abilities as you meet certain requirements.
For example:
- Hyuga players can unlock Byakugan, which requires reaching the necessary level and obtaining the required number of grips.
- Uchiha players eventually unlock their eye abilities as they progress through their clan requirements.
Every clan has different unlock conditions, so keep checking your Clan Skill Tree to see what’s next.
Watching your clan evolve over time is one of the most rewarding parts of Shinobi Reborn.
Shinobi Reborn is still growing, so expect more missions, clans, abilities, and progression systems to arrive in future updates. Right now, the early game is all about building a solid foundation instead of rushing toward endgame content.
