The latest update in Slime Rancher 2 added a new area called the Reserve (Sanctuary), but the game doesn’t just hand it to you—you need to unlock it through a small exploration step first.
How to Unlock the Sanctuary
To reach the new area, you need to go into the Grey Labyrinth. This is where most players get stuck, because the unlock isn’t obvious.
Inside the Labyrinth, you’re looking for a fallen, moss-covered robot called the Keeper. It’s not placed on the edges—it’s located deeper toward the central sections of the Labyrinth.
Once you find it:
- Interact with the Keeper
- Activate it
After doing this, you’ll receive the coordinates needed to access the new location.
Where to Go After Activation
Now return to your starting area (the Conservatory). At the beginning zone, you’ll find a boat docked nearby.
That boat is your access point.
Once you’ve activated the Keeper:
- The boat becomes usable
- You can travel to the Reserve / Sanctuary
Important Notes (What the Game Doesn’t Tell You)
- You may find more than one broken robot in the Labyrinth
- They are usually close to the central region, not spread across the outer paths
- If you’re not finding them, you’re likely exploring the wrong sections
Once unlocked, the Sanctuary becomes a new exploration area tied to the update, so it’s worth doing early if you want access to the latest content.
