Pets are one of the most important progression systems in Taskbar Hero. Unlike heroes, which change depending on your current run, pets remain permanently active once unlocked. Their bonuses constantly improve your account progression by increasing experience gain, gold income, and chest drop rates.
While every pet provides some value, a few stand far above the rest and can dramatically accelerate progression through all three Acts. Here’s a complete ranking of every pet currently available in the game.
S Tier Pets
These are the best pets in Taskbar Hero and should be prioritized whenever possible.
Dragon

Dragon is easily the strongest pet in the game.
Most pets focus on a single progression system, forcing players to choose between gold, loot, or experience. Dragon removes that choice entirely by boosting all three at once.
The experience gain helps heroes level faster, the chest drop bonus increases gear acquisition, and the gold bonus improves overall economy. Every stage of the game benefits from Dragon’s bonuses.
In the early game, Dragon speeds up leveling and helps players acquire better equipment faster. During the mid game, the extra gold becomes increasingly valuable for upgrades and progression systems. Even in the late game, Dragon continues scaling all major aspects of progression without becoming obsolete.
Dragon isn’t simply the best pet because of its numbers. It’s the best because it improves every major progression system simultaneously.
Dark Spirit

Dark Spirit is one of the strongest specialized pets in the game.
Boss chests become increasingly important as players progress through later Acts. Many of the most valuable rewards come from boss encounters, making every percentage point of additional drop chance incredibly valuable.
A 15% increase may not sound game-changing at first glance, but over dozens or hundreds of boss kills, the additional rewards add up significantly.
Players focused on long-term progression and efficient farming will get tremendous value from Dark Spirit.
Bat
Bonuses:

- +15% Experience Gain
Bat is arguably the best progression pet for most players.
While Dragon may be stronger overall, Bat is accessible much earlier and provides two of the most valuable bonuses in the game.
The experience gain helps every run from the moment it starts, while the chest drop chance increases gear acquisition throughout the entire game.
Bat’s biggest strength is consistency. It remains useful from your first few hours all the way into endgame progression.
For many players, Bat will be their first truly top-tier pet.
A Tier Pets
These pets provide excellent value but are slightly outclassed by the strongest options.
Sword
Bonus:
- +15% Experience Gain
Sword is one of the simplest pets in the game.
There are no complicated mechanics, conditions, or synergies. It simply provides a permanent experience bonus throughout every run.
Faster leveling means earlier power spikes, stronger heroes, and smoother progression.
Although Bat eventually becomes the better experience-focused pet thanks to its additional chest bonus, Sword remains a reliable option that works with every hero class and build.
Watcher
Bonus:

Watcher is the best dedicated gold-farming pet available.
Gold becomes increasingly important as players advance through the game, and Watcher provides a consistent boost to income throughout every run.
The bonus may seem small initially, but over long play sessions it results in significantly more resources for upgrades and progression.
One of Watcher’s biggest advantages is accessibility. Unlike Butterfly, which performs a similar role, Watcher is available without requiring additional purchases.
Burning Skeleton

Burning Skeleton serves as a slightly weaker version of Dark Spirit.
The pet focuses entirely on improving boss rewards, making it valuable for players farming progression items from boss encounters.
Although the 10% bonus is smaller than Dark Spirit’s 15%, it still provides meaningful value across long-term farming sessions.
Players who don’t have access to Dark Spirit will find Burning Skeleton to be an excellent alternative.
B Tier Pets
These pets are useful but generally outperformed by stronger alternatives.
Butterfly
Bonus:

Butterfly focuses solely on gold generation.
The problem is that Watcher exists.
Watcher provides a larger 15% gold bonus while being available to all players, making Butterfly difficult to justify in most situations.
Butterfly isn’t a bad pet. It’s simply overshadowed by a stronger alternative that performs the same role more effectively.
Unless you’re collecting every pet or experimenting with different setups, Butterfly is usually not worth prioritizing.
Blue Golem
Bonus:
- +15% Common Chest Drop Chance
Blue Golem appears useful at first because more chest drops seem valuable.
However, common chests frequently provide low-rarity equipment that quickly becomes obsolete.
When compared to Bat, which provides both chest drops and experience gain, Blue Golem starts to feel extremely limited.
The pet can still help newer players acquire gear faster during the early game, but its usefulness drops significantly as progression continues.
