If you’ve been playing as Wallace in Tears of Metal and noticed that he has a fourth weapon slot that you just can’t seem to unlock, you’re not missing some random item hidden in the first few missions.
Wallace’s fourth weapon, the Seraphic Blade, is tied to completing the campaign with him first. After that, you need to collect three separate weapon pieces during one complete campaign run.
The important part is that you can’t collect one piece now, another piece on a different run, and expect them to carry over. All three pieces need to be collected during the same run.
Here’s exactly what you need to do.
Tears of Metal Wallace 4th Weapon Guide – Unlock Seraphic Blade
Before you can even start looking for the Seraphic Blade pieces, there’s one requirement you absolutely have to meet:
Beat the final boss of the campaign while playing as Wallace.
You don’t need to collect the weapon pieces before doing this. In fact, they won’t appear until you’ve completed the campaign as Wallace.
Once you’ve defeated the final boss with Wallace, the three Seraphic Blade pieces can start appearing during future campaign runs.
So the basic progression is:
Beat the final boss as Wallace → Start a new run → Collect all 3 pieces → Finish the run → Unlock Seraphic Blade
Seraphic Blade Piece #1 – Intricate Pommel
The first piece is found during Act 1.
You don’t need to search for a hidden room or complete a special challenge for this one. Instead, keep an eye out for the Merchant.
The Merchant sells the Intricate Pommel.
It costs:
225 coins
Make sure you have enough money when you reach the Merchant.
Once you’ve purchased it, the first part of Wallace’s fourth weapon is secured.
Seraphic Blade Piece #2 – Gilded Crossguard
The second piece appears in Act 2.
This time, you’re looking for a special chest that appears during one of the Act 2 missions.
When you find the chest, you’ll need to pay to open it.
The cost is:
350 coins
Discounts can reduce the price, so the exact amount you pay may be lower if you have an applicable discount.
Open the chest and you’ll receive the Gilded Crossguard, which is the second piece of the Seraphic Blade.
This is also why it’s worth keeping some coins available during your run. You don’t want to reach the chest and discover that you’ve spent everything earlier.
Seraphic Blade Piece #3 – Sanctified Blade
The final piece is found during Act 3.
For this one, you’ll need to locate a special challenge standard inside one of the Act 3 missions.
Interact with the standard to start the challenge.
Complete the challenge and a reward chest will appear.
Pick up the reward chest’s contents and you’ll receive the final piece:
Sanctified Blade
At this point, you’ve collected all three parts of the Seraphic Blade.
How to Complete the Seraphic Blade
Once you’ve collected the third piece, don’t worry about manually combining the parts.
Simply finish the mission.
When you return to the map, the game will automatically award you Wallace’s fourth weapon:
Seraphic Blade
That’s it. There’s no additional crafting station or hidden NPC you need to visit.
Important: All 3 Pieces Must Be in One Run
This is probably the easiest part of the unlock requirement to overlook.
You need to collect:
Act 1 – Intricate Pommel
Act 2 – Gilded Crossguard
Act 3 – Sanctified Blade
during one single campaign run.
You can’t collect the Pommel during one run, quit, start another campaign, and expect the Crossguard to continue the same weapon.
So once you’ve bought the first piece in Act 1, keep an eye on your progress throughout the rest of the campaign.
What If the Pieces Aren’t Appearing?
If you’ve started looking everywhere and can’t find any of the three pieces, check the most important requirement first:
Have you defeated the final boss as Wallace?
The weapon pieces only begin appearing after you’ve previously completed the campaign’s final boss while using Wallace.
If you haven’t done that yet, that’s why the Merchant isn’t offering the Pommel and the special chests/challenges aren’t giving you the weapon pieces.
