Where To Find Necrolei Cyst in Subnautica 2 (Farming)

So, if you’ve started unlocking the more advanced crafting recipes in Subnautica 2, you’ve probably already run into the annoying “Need Strong Acid” wall. The problem is the game doesn’t exactly hand you a marker for the material you need, and Necrolei Cyst can be surprisingly easy to swim past without noticing.

I spent a good while checking random caves before finally finding a reliable spot, and thankfully it’s not buried somewhere ridiculously deep.

Here’s the easiest way to locate Necrolei Cyst and farm enough Strong Acid materials without turning the trip into an underwater disaster.

Where To Find Necrolei Cyst in Subnautica 2

The easiest place to find Necrolei Cyst is a biome located roughly 280 meters away from the Lifepod. From your starting position, head just slightly north-west and keep an eye on your distance while staying around 40 meters deep.

Eventually, you’ll spot a wreck resting underwater. That wreck is basically your sign that you’re close.

Once you move past it, look around the nearby plant-covered section. You’ll notice strange organic formations growing around the area, and attached to some of them are the Necrolei Cysts you need.

They stand out once you get close, especially compared to the normal vegetation nearby.

You Need the Multi-Tool

Before heading over there, make sure you actually bring the Multi-Tool.

You can’t simply pick the resource up by hand. You’ll need the tool to properly harvest the cysts from the plants.

If you forget it, you’re basically making the trip for nothing. Learned that one the hard way.

Recommended Gear Before You Go

The area itself isn’t extremely deep, but it can still get messy because of the hostile wildlife nearby.

I’d strongly recommend bringing:

  • Speed Fins
  • Extra Oxygen Tank
  • Air Bladder
  • Flares
  • Multi-Tool
  • Wave Maker if available

The extra mobility helps way more than you’d think, especially when creatures start swarming you while you’re trying to gather resources.

Beware of Mongrel Nibblers

This biome is crawling with Mongrel Nibblers, and these little things are honestly more irritating than dangerous.

The problem is they tend to move in packs. Usually two or three at a time.

You’ll often hear their screeching noise before they actually attack, which gives you a little warning to prepare yourself.

Flares are surprisingly useful here because they can distract the creatures long enough for you to finish harvesting and get out safely. Without them, farming becomes a constant cycle of getting interrupted every few seconds.

Best Way to Farm Necrolei Cyst

Once you find the first cluster, keep checking around the surrounding plant formations because several more usually spawn nearby.

Instead of grabbing only what you need immediately, stockpile as much as possible during one trip. Strong Acid starts becoming more important later on, and you really don’t want to keep revisiting this area over and over.

Especially with those Nibblers constantly breathing down your neck.

Necrolei Cyst is mainly used for crafting Strong Acid, which becomes an important material for advanced crafting recipes later in the game.

Since Subnautica 2 is still in Early Access, more uses and locations could appear in future updates, but right now this is one of the most reliable farming spots players have discovered.
