Yet Another Zombie Survivors 1.0 Synergy Guide 2026

If you’ve played Yet Another Zombie Survivors for more than a few runs, you’ve probably noticed that picking three strong Survivors isn’t always enough. Some teams simply feel better together, and that’s because of the game’s Synergy system.

The fun part is that the best combinations aren’t always about putting your three highest-damage characters together. Certain Survivors can modify each other’s weapons, add completely new effects, or turn an already useful ability into something much nastier.

This guide breaks down the Survivor Synergies, the strongest three-character combinations, and what each pairing actually does in a run. The important thing is to look at what the team gains as a whole, rather than judging each Survivor separately.

Yet Another Zombie Survivors 1.0 Synergy Guide 2026

Synergies are passive bonuses that activate when compatible Survivors are used together.

They become available through the Upgrades system at Tier II, Tier III, and Tier IV.

There are two basic types you’ll come across.

Simple Synergy improves one Survivor’s ability based on another character being present.

Mutual Synergy works both ways, with the two Survivors improving each other’s abilities.

This matters when building a team because a Survivor doesn’t need to directly increase another character’s damage to be useful. Sometimes the real value is an extra status effect, additional projectile, healing effect, crowd control, or interaction between abilities.

And that’s where the more interesting teams come from.

Which Survivor Combinations Have the Most Synergy?

Every Leader can build up to 8 Synergies, so there’s plenty of room to experiment.

Still, some combinations stand out because several of their abilities naturally feed into one another.

The strongest three-Survivor combinations from the available synergy setup include:

  • SWAT + Tank + Pyro
  • Medic + Huntress + Pyro
  • Engineer + Mechanic + Ranger

There are also several four-Synergy combinations that are worth using when you want a more specific build rather than simply chasing the highest possible number of interactions.

SWAT, Tank, and Pyro

This is one of the most interesting offensive combinations because the team mixes explosions, fire and automatic weapons.

The interaction between these three Survivors gives several abilities extra effects:

  • Automatic Turret has a 10% chance to fire a shotgun slug.
  • Bombing Strike can spawn additional Grenades.
  • Mines leave behind a burning area after exploding.
  • Fire Path can occasionally plant Mines along its path.
  • Helicopter Strike leaves a trail of Fire behind it.

The nice thing about this setup is that the effects don’t all do the same job.

SWAT gives you the firearms and explosive pressure, Tank adds durability and mine-based control, while Pyro turns the battlefield into a giant hazard zone.

If you like watching the screen fill with explosions and burning areas, this is probably the first team I’d try.

Medic, Huntress, and Pyro

This trio takes a completely different approach.

Instead of simply stacking raw damage, it combines healing, critical hits, poison and fire effects.

The main Synergy effects include:

  • Killing an Elite or Boss restores 30 HP.
  • Arrow Rain can release Toxic fumes.
  • Resuscitation burns enemies when activated.
  • Picking up a Healthpak can apply Burn to nearby enemies.
  • Molotov has a 50% chance to taunt enemies when it explodes.

This gives the team a nice mixture of sustain and area damage.

Huntress benefits from the extra control and status effects, while Pyro adds more ways to keep enemies burning. Medic then helps the team recover during longer fights.

It’s a particularly attractive setup if you don’t want your run to depend entirely on killing everything before it reaches you.

Engineer, Mechanic, and Ranger

If you prefer a more technical build, this trio is worth a look.

The Synergies here lean heavily into Electric, Freeze, and Marked effects.

Some of the interactions include:

  • Transmitter creates an Electric Damage ring when it spawns.
  • Ice Turret taunts enemies for 3 seconds after spawning.
  • Good Boy can drop Freeze mines when it hits a Marked enemy.
  • Incense pulses have a 20% chance to apply Electrified.
  • Marked enemies have an additional chance to become Electrified.

This combination has a lot going on, but that’s also its strength.

Instead of relying on one huge attack, you’re constantly layering status effects across groups of enemies. Marked targets become especially important because several of the abilities gain additional effects against them.

SWAT, Tank, and Engineer

You don’t necessarily need a three-way synergy monster to make a strong team.

SWAT, Tank and Engineer have four notable interactions between them:

Automatic Turret gets a 10% chance to fire a shotgun slug.

Bombing Strike can spawn Grenades.

Enemies touching the relevant effects can become Electrified.

EMP Grenade can release shotgun pellets in random directions.

This is a nice option when you want a more gun-heavy setup while still adding some Electric damage and crowd control.

It doesn’t have the same fire-heavy identity as SWAT/Tank/Pyro, but it can feel much more controlled when the screen gets crowded.

SWAT, Ghost, and Medic

This combination is much more defensive.

The Synergies give you:

  • Increased Dodge effectiveness against projectiles.
  • Holo-Bait releases a Grenade when it expires.
  • Medical Drone attacks have a 50% chance to Ricochet.
  • Ghost restores 1 HP for every zombie killed by Ghost.

The healing interaction is the part that really makes this trio interesting.

Ghost is already capable of sustaining itself through kills, while Medic adds additional healing-related utility. SWAT brings the extra offensive pressure so you’re not building a team that’s only good at surviving.

If projectile-heavy enemies are giving you trouble, the improved Dodge interaction is another reason to consider this setup.

Tank, Engineer, and Pyro

This is another strong choice if you enjoy area control.

The important interactions are:

  • Contact with certain effects can Electrify enemies.
  • EMP Grenade can release shotgun pellets.
  • Mines leave a burning area after exploding.
  • Fire Path can plant Mines along its route.

The last two effects work especially well together.

Tank puts Mines on the field, while Pyro can turn those Mines into additional fire zones. Engineer then adds Electric effects to the chaos.

It’s a very good example of why Synergy isn’t simply about increasing a damage number. You’re effectively creating several different hazards for enemies to walk through.

Tank, Huntress, and Pyro

This trio also has a strong area-control theme, but Huntress changes how it plays.

The notable Synergies are:

  • Bear Trap can spawn a Sawnblade Drone around the trap.
  • Mines leave Fire behind after exploding.
  • Fire Path can plant Mines.
  • Molotov has a 50% chance to taunt enemies on explosion.

This is a fun setup when you want enemies to be slowed, trapped, burned and distracted while your Survivors continue dealing damage.

It also gives you a good mixture of direct attacks and environmental damage.

SWAT Synergies

SWAT has a lot of useful interactions because several Survivors can modify his weapon-based abilities.

Some of the notable effects include:

  • Automatic Turret gets a 10% chance to fire a shotgun slug.
  • Bombing Strike can spawn Grenades.
  • Zombie Decoy can produce twice as many Grenades.
  • Dodge effectiveness against projectiles can be doubled.
  • Holo-Bait releases a Grenade when it expires.
  • Medical Drone has a 50% chance to Ricochet.
  • Helicopter Strike leaves Fire behind.
  • Grenade Tails can sometimes apply Fear.

The important takeaway is that SWAT works particularly well when you surround him with Survivors that add more projectiles, explosions, or status effects to his existing kit.

If you’re building around SWAT, don’t only look for another high-damage Survivor. Look for someone whose Synergy can make his existing weapons do something extra.

Tank Synergies

Tank is naturally suited to builds that want enemies close enough for his defensive and area-control abilities to matter.

His notable Synergies include:

  • Bombing Strike spawning Grenades.
  • Automatic Turret firing shotgun slugs.
  • Electrifying enemies that come into contact with certain effects.
  • EMP Grenade releasing shotgun pellets.
  • Bear Trap spawning a Sawnblade Drone.
  • Fury Unleashed gaining Health Regeneration.
  • Mines creating Fire zones.
  • Fire Path occasionally planting Mines.

Tank therefore fits extremely well with Pyro and Engineer.

You’re getting durability from Tank while simultaneously creating more reasons for enemies to stay inside damaging zones.

Engineer Synergies

Engineer is one of the better choices if you enjoy stacking status effects.

His Synergies can produce interactions involving:

  • Electric Damage rings from Transmitter.
  • EMP Grenade shotgun pellets.
  • Frost Arrows following Electrocution.
  • Electric Turret launching Kunais when deactivated.
  • Shurikens dealing additional Electric damage.
  • Marked enemies becoming more likely to be Electrified.
  • Incense having a 20% chance to apply Electrified.

Engineer becomes especially interesting when paired with characters who already apply Marked or other status effects.

The result is less about one enormous attack and more about constantly triggering secondary effects.

Huntress Synergies

Huntress benefits heavily from combinations involving traps, Marked enemies and elemental effects.

Her Synergies include:

  • Zombie Decoy producing twice as many Grenades.
  • Bear Trap spawning a Sawnblade Drone.
  • Electrocution causing Frost Arrows to fall.
  • Arrow Rain having a chance to release Toxic fumes.
  • Killing an Elite or Boss restoring 30 HP.
  • Molotov having a 50% chance to taunt enemies.
  • Huntress attacks against Marked targets gaining +50% Critical Chance.
  • Marked duration increasing by 3 seconds.

That last interaction is particularly useful if you’re building around Marked enemies.

Keeping targets Marked for longer gives the rest of the team more time to take advantage of effects that specifically trigger against them.

Ghost Synergies

Ghost is a good fit for teams that want survivability without completely sacrificing damage.

Some of the notable effects are:

  • Holo-Bait releases a Grenade when it expires.
  • Dodge Chance is doubled against projectiles.
  • Shurikens deal additional Electric damage.
  • Electric Turret launches Kunais when deactivated.
  • Ghost heals 1 HP for every zombie killed by Ghost.
  • Pulsar has a 20% chance to Freeze enemies.
  • Mechanic’s Melee attacks receive a 50% increase.
  • Falcon hits against Marked enemies can spawn Shurikens.

Ghost’s healing effect is particularly useful in long runs because it rewards you for continuing to kill rather than simply trying to avoid damage.

Medic Synergies

Medic works best when the rest of the team can take advantage of the healing and status effects she brings.

Her Synergies include:

  • Medical Drone attacks having a 50% chance to Ricochet.
  • Fury Unleashed granting Health Regeneration.
  • Killing Elites and Bosses restoring 30 HP.
  • Arrow Rain having a chance to release Toxic fumes.
  • Ghost kills restoring HP.
  • Resuscitation burning enemies on activation.
  • Healthpak pickups applying Burn nearby.
  • Experiment 21 having a chance to Stun.

This makes Medic more than just a defensive pick.

She can contribute crowd control and elemental effects while still providing the sustain you’d expect from her.

Pyro Synergies

Pyro is where the game’s Synergy system starts getting particularly fun.

Several of the effects revolve around spreading Fire:

  • Helicopter Strike leaves a Fire trail.
  • Fire Path can plant Mines.
  • Mines leave burning areas after exploding.
  • Molotov has a 50% chance to taunt enemies.
  • Healthpak pickups can Burn nearby enemies.
  • Resuscitation burns enemies when activated.
  • Makeshift Bomb can release spanners toward random enemies.
  • Remote Control Car leaves a Fire trail.

Pyro naturally pairs well with Tank because Mines become much more dangerous when Fire is added to them.

The SWAT/Tank/Pyro combination is therefore a particularly easy recommendation if you want a team that creates constant area damage.

Mechanic Synergies

Mechanic has several unusual interactions that reward pairing him with status-heavy Survivors.

His Synergies include:

  • Transmitter creating an Electric Damage ring.
  • Electrocution interactions producing Frost Arrows.
  • Electric Turret launching Kunais when it deactivates.
  • Shurikens gaining additional Electric damage.
  • Mechanic’s Melee attacks increasing by 50%.
  • Pulsar having a 20% chance to Freeze.
  • Remote Control Car leaving Fire behind.
  • Makeshift Bomb releasing spanners.
  • Ice Turret taunting enemies for 3 seconds.
  • Good Boy creating Freeze mines against Marked enemies.

This is why Mechanic works so nicely with Engineer and Ranger. There are several ways for the team to turn one status effect into another.

Ranger Synergies

Ranger is particularly interesting when you’re building around Marked targets.

His Synergies include:

  • Grenade Tails sometimes applying Fear.
  • Incense having a 20% chance to Electrify enemies.
  • Marked enemies having an additional chance to become Electrified.
  • Marked duration increasing by 3 seconds.
  • Huntress gaining +50% Critical Chance against Marked targets.
  • Falcon spawning Shurikens against Marked enemies.
  • Experiment 21 having a chance to Stun.
  • Good Boy dropping Freeze mines against Marked enemies.
  • Ice Turret taunting enemies for 3 seconds.

Ranger therefore fits naturally into teams that want to keep enemies under status effects for as long as possible.

Which Synergy Team Should You Use?

If you don’t want to spend time comparing every possible combination, start with one of these:

Best explosive/fire team:
SWAT + Tank + Pyro

This is the easiest recommendation for players who want lots of explosions and area damage.

Best sustain-oriented team:
Medic + Huntress + Pyro

This combination gives you healing, fire, Toxic effects and additional utility against tougher enemies.

Best status-effect team:
Engineer + Mechanic + Ranger

Pick this if you enjoy Electrified, Freeze and Marked interactions rather than simply stacking raw damage.

Best defensive option:
SWAT + Ghost + Medic

This team has useful projectile avoidance, healing and extra offensive effects.

Best area-control setup:
Tank + Engineer + Pyro

Mines, Fire and Electric effects give you plenty of ways to control where enemies can safely move.
