Looking for all Red Herrings in Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School? There are 50 Red Herrings hidden throughout the campus, and finding them all is important if you want to complete your collection and unlock the Herring is Caring achievement.
In this guide, I’ll show you where to find every Red Herring in the game. I’ve divided all 50 locations into five sections, including Headmaster’s Tower, Sciences Campus, Humanities Campus, Arts Campus, and other areas like the Quad, Gardens, and Beach. This makes it much easier to explore each area without missing anything.
Escape Academy 2 Back 2 School Red Herrings Locations Guide
Some Red Herrings are easy to spot, while others are tucked away in corners, hidden under objects, or placed in locations you might not normally explore. So, if you’re having trouble finding the remaining fish, follow our complete location checklist below.
Headmaster’s Tower – All Red Herring Locations
There are 9 Red Herrings hidden throughout Headmaster’s Tower. Make sure you check the dorm room, courtyard, different floors, and detention center.
- Dorm Room: Head to your dorm room and check the pile of laundry. You’ll find a Red Herring sitting on top of the clothes you never seem to wash throughout the game.
- Main Tower Courtyard: Look underneath the stairs in the courtyard. There’s a small hideout where you can find another Red Herring.
- Sandwich: Find the guy carrying a sandwich and simply steal the fish hidden inside it. Don’t ask too many questions!
- Cafeteria: Visit the cafeteria counter where you get milk for the professor. You can purchase a Red Herring directly from the counter.
- Second-Floor Lobby: Go to the second floor and look to the right side of the stairs. There’s a plaque containing a large Red Herring.
- Headmaster’s Office: Head toward the Headmaster’s door and check the bookshelf on its right side. You’ll find another fish waiting there.
- Detention Center: Make your way down to the detention center, also known as the puzzle dungeon. Check the vending machine in the stairwell to find a Red Herring.
- Nurse’s Station: Visit the nurse’s station and look next to the bed where you respawn. The fish is sitting nearby.
- Top of the Tower: After unlocking the ziplines, make your way to the top of the tower. You’ll find a Red Herring impaled there.
Sciences Campus – All Red Herring Locations
The Sciences Campus contains 12 Red Herrings. You’ll need to explore the chemistry lab, biology lab, weather tower, and several outdoor areas to collect them all.
- Near the Dumpsters: Check the tree pot next to the dumpsters. You’ll find a Red Herring hiding inside.
- Nugget’s Nest: Look underneath Nugget’s nest. There’s another fish hidden there, although you might need to adjust your position a little to grab it.
- Chemistry Lab: Enter the chemistry lab and check behind the spill. You’ll find a Red Herring hiding in that area.
- Biology Lab Entrance: Head outside the biology lab, near the door that requires 12 puzzle pieces. Look underneath the nearby pipe to find a hidden fish.
- Puzzle Factory: Check underneath the rear entrance of the puzzle factory. There’s a Red Herring trying to get inside.
- Leaky Pipes Area: Near the leaky pipes extra credit quest, look for a nearby vent. You’ll find a fish hiding inside it.
- Weather Tower: Enter the weather tower and look at the shelf directly behind Belini. Another Red Herring is waiting there.
- Incinerator: Go to the back corner of the incinerator structure, beside Jacob Spumoni. You’ll find a fish hiding there.
- Quanty’s Old Lab: Look underneath the entrance platform leading to Quanty’s old lab. There’s a Red Herring tucked away below it.
- Behind Quanty’s Lab: Head behind Quanty’s lab and check near the path wall. You’ll find a fish enjoying the sunshine.
- Red Crates: Look behind the large red crates. There’s a small red fish hiding behind them.
- Wind Turbine: Climb to the top of the wind turbine platform. You’ll find the final Sciences Campus Red Herring enjoying the breeze.
Humanities Campus – All Red Herring Locations
There are 10 Red Herrings hidden throughout the Humanities Campus. Most of them are around the library, lecture hall, museum, and greenhouse.
Library – Right Side: Enter the library and check the right side. You’ll find a Red Herring sitting on a shelf above the ladder.
Library – Left Side: Head to the opposite side of the library and look in the corner on the left. There’s another fish hiding there.
Lecture Hall: Visit the lecture hall and look for a Red Herring trying to teach the class about fish business.
Outside the Library: Check the windowsill outside the library, near the gazebo. You’ll find another fish sitting there.
Museum Front Desk: Head inside the museum and look underneath the front desk. There’s a Red Herring hiding from the dinosaur skeletons.
News Building: Climb to the top of the news building. You can access this area from behind the building, where you’ll find another fish.
Cipher Center: Enter the cipher center and go to the second floor. Check inside an artifact bin to find an ancient Red Herring.
Greenhouse: Head outside the greenhouse and explore the left garden. You’ll find a fish pretending to be a flower.
Founder’s Fountain: Visit the Founder’s Fountain and look underneath one of its arches. There’s a Red Herring pretending to be a real fish.
Across the River: Cross the river and continue past the log near the gazebo. You’ll find the final Humanities Campus Red Herring in this area.
Arts Campus – All Red Herring Locations
You can find 9 Red Herrings throughout the Arts Campus. Explore the theatre department, costume department, dance studio, eel museum, and music studio carefully.
First Arts Campus Section: Go to the second floor of the first Arts Campus section. Check the trashcan near the tunnel entrance to find a Red Herring.
Theatre Department: Enter the theatre department and look on the shelf. You’ll find a fish waiting there.
Costume Department: Head inside the costume department and check underneath the central table. There’s another Red Herring getting ready for the show.
Dance Studio: Visit the dance studio and look around for a fish that’s busy learning some new moves.
Eel Museum: Head to the upper Arts Campus and enter the eel museum. Check behind the eel tank to find a Red Herring hiding there.
Music Studio – Shelf: Enter the music studio and look at the shelf on the right side. You’ll find a fish enjoying some smooth jazz.
Music Studio – Piano: While you’re inside the music studio, check behind the piano. There’s another Red Herring hiding from the music.
Art Studio: Go to the art studio and check the office chair. You’ll find a fish sitting there.
Upper Arts Campus Fountain: Visit the fountain in the upper Arts Campus, near the door that requires 80 puzzle pieces. You’ll find the final Red Herring for this section.
Other Areas – All Red Herring Locations
The remaining 10 Red Herrings are scattered across three different areas: the Quad, Gardens, and Beach.
Quad – All Red Herring Locations
There are 2 Red Herrings hidden in the Quad.
Main Entrance: Head toward the main entrance of the Quad and check behind the nearby trashcan. You’ll find a fish hiding there.
Clown Extra Credit Quest: Look inside the bushes behind the clown extra credit quest. There’s another Red Herring hiding in the bushes.
Gardens – All Red Herring Locations
You’ll find 5 Red Herrings throughout the Gardens. Make sure you explore the river, outdoor stage, hedge maze, and surrounding paths.
Outdoor Stage: Head behind the outdoor stage area. You’ll find a Red Herring hiding there.
River: Visit the river near the arrow extra credit quest. Look inside the water to find a fish trying to get back home.
Path to the Riddle Box: Follow the road leading up to the riddle box. Look to the left of the log to find another Red Herring.
Hedge Maze: Explore the hedge maze carefully. There’s a Red Herring hidden somewhere inside, so check the corners and paths.
Big Rock: Look for the large rock overlooking the outdoor stage. You’ll find another fish sitting on top of it.
Beach – All Red Herring Locations
There are 3 Red Herrings hidden around the Beach. Check the rocks, lifeguard area, and docks to collect them.
Left Side of the Beach: Head to the left side of the beach and look between the rocks. You’ll find a Red Herring hiding there.
Lifeguard: Check the lifeguard area next to Quanty. There’s another fish waiting nearby.
Docks: Go to the right side of the docks and look inside a bucket. You’ll find the final Red Herring hiding there.
