Playrooms Achievement Guide – Ball Pit Unlock, Upgrade

Before working on achievements, there are a few things worth knowing about the game’s progression system.

  • Check your stats: You can find your progress, including collected objects and sparrows, by opening stats.exe on your PC and checking the Overview tab under Progress.
  • Collectibles tracking: Your object and sparrow counts won’t appear until you’ve collected at least one of each.
  • Bird sounds: Sparrows won’t chirp until you’ve collected them.
  • No soft locks: You cannot permanently soft-lock yourself, so don’t worry too much about making mistakes while progressing.

Ball Pit Unlock Requirements

Filling ball pits unlocks new equipment and abilities. Here are the requirements for each pit:

Special Achievement Challenges

Colour Is a Distraction

How to unlock: Fill a ball pit with only one colour.

This achievement can be tricky because you need to fill an entire ball pit using balls of a single colour. You’ll want to be careful when collecting and depositing balls.

Here are some tips to make the challenge easier:

  • Avoid Ball Magnet: Don’t purchase the Ball Magnet upgrade before attempting this achievement. It won’t give you the option to choose specific ball colours.
  • Vacuum Collect is optional: This upgrade allows you to hold the left mouse button instead of repeatedly clicking. However, it can make you collect balls too quickly and accidentally pick up the wrong colour.
  • Purchase Quick Grab: This upgrade reduces the delay between picking up balls, making the process faster.
  • Be careful with Big Pockets: Carrying more balls can be useful, but picking up even one wrong-coloured ball can ruin your collection.
  • Choose an easy colour: Blue is a good option because it’s relatively easy to distinguish from other colours, including in darker areas.
  • Avoid Wall Vents: Don’t purchase Wall Vent upgrades when attempting this challenge. Balls can spawn inside vents, making them difficult to see and collect manually.

One important thing to remember is that you cannot remove balls once you’ve placed them inside a pit. If you accidentally collect the wrong colour, deposit that bag into another pit instead.

You can still use other pits for regular progression, money, upgrades, and unlocking additional rooms.

My recommendation: Complete this achievement using the first ball pit. It requires only 1,500 balls, making it much easier than filling the larger pits with 5,000 or more balls.

Also, remember that vents, robots, and other automated collection systems deposit balls in chronological order of completion rather than allowing you to manually choose their colours.

Hardcore Mode Achievement

No Re-hires Needed

How to unlock: Complete Hardcore Mode.

For this achievement, you need to finish Hardcore Mode. Complete the required objectives and survive the challenge until you’ve successfully finished the mode.

Getting 100% completion in Playrooms requires plenty of cleaning, collecting, exploration, and upgrading. I recommend focusing on filling the first few ball pits early because they unlock important abilities and equipment that make later rooms much easier.

After that, work on collecting all sparrows and office items, purchase every room key, and gradually upgrade your equipment. Save the single-colour ball pit achievement for a dedicated attempt so you don’t accidentally deposit the wrong colour.

Finally, complete Hardcore Mode to finish your achievement collection. Good luck, and happy cleaning!
