In this guide, we will tell you how to unlock the Hammyshork Rod, complete all three of its quest stages, find every shark required for the quest, and unlock its different modes. We will also explain how to get the Fangspliter Rod, including all the requirements you need to complete for Ekko.
Fisch Hammyshork and Fangspliter Rod Guide – Get Rods
So, if you want to get both new rods and understand their abilities, keep reading. We have covered everything step by step to make the process as easy as possible.
How to Get Hammyshork Rod in Fisch
<PRIVATE_PERSON>To get the Hammyshork Rod in Fisch, you first need to unlock the Shark Sanctuary and complete Hammy’s questline. You cannot simply enter the sanctuary and start talking to Hammy because you need to rescue a special plushie first.
Follow these steps to get started.
Step 1: Find the Shark Sanctuary
First, you need to find the Shark Sanctuary. This secret area is located underwater near the Arch, close to Castaway Cliffs.
To find the entrance, position yourself so that Moosewood is roughly in the middle of the Arch. Dive underwater in this direction and look for a cave entrance.
Enter the cave, and you will receive a notification that says Shark Sanctuary Discovered.
Inside the sanctuary, you will find two important NPCs:
- Hammy: Located on the right side. You need to talk to him to complete the Hammyshork questline.
- Orus: Located on the left side. He runs the Shark Token shop, where you can purchase special items.
However, if you try talking to Hammy immediately, he will not respond. You first need to rescue a lost plushie.
Step 2: Rescue the Lost Plushie
Leave the Shark Sanctuary and head towards the shark hunt location.
Use your Shark Whistle to spawn a shark and travel towards the hunt. Once you arrive, look underwater for a purple trail leading towards a plushie on the ocean floor.
Follow the trail, find the plushie, and interact with it to rescue it.
After rescuing the plushie, you will unlock your first quest:
- Find the Shark Sanctuary and talk to Hammy.
Now, return to the Shark Sanctuary and talk to Hammy. This time, he will respond and start the questline.
Important: If the Shark Sanctuary entrance is sealed when you first visit, don’t worry. You need to rescue the plushie before you can properly access the sanctuary and interact with Hammy.
Step 3: Catch All Required Sharks
After talking to Hammy, you will receive the Shark’s Friend title and a new quest.
Your next objective is to catch every shark required for the collection. There are 13 sharks you need to catch:
| Required Shark | Location |
|---|---|
| Great Hammerhead Shark | Shark Hunts |
| Great White Shark | Shark Hunts |
| Whale Shark | Shark Hunts |
| Megamouth Shark | Megamouth migration |
| Cookiecutter Shark | Shark Hunts |
| Gemstone Whale Shark | Treasure Island |
| Jinsu Shark | Ancient Isle Waterfall |
| Great Goldcursed Shark | Castaway Cliffs |
| Icebeard Shark | Glacial Grotto, Northern Expedition |
| Maelstrom Shark | Atlantean Storm |
| Mutated Shark | The Depths |
| Nurse Shark | Ocean |
| Umbrella Shark | Keeper’s Altar |
Some of these sharks are easier to obtain than others, so here are a few additional details to help you complete the collection.
- Great Hammerhead, Great White, and Whale Shark: You need to participate in Shark Hunts to catch these three sharks. Keep your Shark Whistles ready because you can use them to trigger hunts.
- Megamouth Shark: This shark appears through a migration event. Keep an eye out for its movement and catch it when you find it.
- Cookiecutter Shark: You can obtain this shark through Shark Hunts.
- Gemstone Whale Shark: Travel to Treasure Island to find this shark.
- Jinsu Shark: Head to the waterfall at Ancient Isle.
- Great Goldcursed Shark: This secret shark can be found around Castaway Cliffs.
- Icebeard Shark: Travel to Glacial Grotto at the top of Northern Expedition.
- Maelstrom Shark: You need to fish inside the Atlantean Storm, which appears around the Grand Reef whirlpools.
- Mutated Shark: Head to The Depths to find this shark.
- Nurse Shark: You can catch this shark in the ocean.
- Umbrella Shark: Travel to Keeper’s Altar to find it.
Once you have caught all 13 sharks, return to Hammy and complete the dialogue.
You will receive the Hammyshork Rod and 10 Shark Tokens as your reward.
Hammyshork Rod Stats and Abilities
<PRIVATE_PERSON>The Hammyshork Rod is one of the most unique rods added to Fisch because it actually features a shark that you can hold and cast into the water.
Here are its base stats:
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Lure Speed | 70% |
| Luck | 170% |
| Control | 0.15 |
| Resilience | 15% |
| Max Kg | Infinite |
| Hunt Focus | Shark Hunt +15 |
The rod also comes with three different modes that you can unlock by completing additional quests.
- Hammy
- Get Well Soon
- Well
Each mode has its own passive abilities, so you can switch between them depending on what you want to achieve.
When you equip the rod, the shark sits on your character’s shoulder. Once you pull it out, you actually hold the shark in your hand. When you cast, the shark jumps into the water and starts fishing for you.
Let’s look at how to unlock all three modes.
How to Unlock All Hammyshork Rod Modes
Step 1: Unlock the Get Well Soon Mode
After obtaining the Hammyshork Rod, talk to Hammy again.
He will give you a new quest called Retrace the Plushie’s Trail. Your objective is to find and activate 20 Shark Engravings scattered throughout Northern Expedition.
You need to travel through Northern Expedition and follow the blue star markers to locate each engraving.
The engravings are relatively easy to find because the quest guides you towards their locations. Simply follow the markers, interact with each engraving, and continue until you have activated all 20.
Once you finish collecting them, you will receive a message saying that you found the runaway shark and need to bring it back to the sanctuary.
Return to Hammy and complete the dialogue.
You will unlock:
- Get Well Soon mode for Hammyshork.
- Shark Breaker.
- 10 additional Shark Tokens.
Step 2: Unlock the Well Mode
For the third mode, talk to Hammy again and accept the next quest.
This time, you need to complete a shark chase challenge.
Follow the quest marker to the designated location, where you will find a new tunnel. Before entering, make sure you unequip your Deep Survey Device.
Once you enter the tunnel, a cutscene will begin, and a shark will start chasing you.
Your objective is to reach the end of the tunnel without getting caught.
During this challenge, you need to:
- Swim through the rings to keep moving forward.
- Avoid the bombs scattered throughout the tunnel.
- Stay ahead of the shark chasing you.
- Reach the final destination without getting eaten.
Be careful while swimming because hitting obstacles or getting caught can ruin your attempt.
After successfully completing the challenge, return to Hammy and talk to him.
You will receive another 10 Shark Tokens and unlock the final Well mode for the Hammyshork Rod.
Hammyshork Shark Token Shop
Once you start completing Hammy’s quests, you will collect Shark Tokens. You can spend these tokens at Orus’s shop inside the Shark Sanctuary.
Orus is located on the left side of the sanctuary.
Talk to him to open the shop, where you can purchase several useful items.
| Item | Shark Token Cost |
|---|---|
| Ancient Shark Whistle | 15 |
| Bloop Whistle | Check shop |
| Disturbance Catalyst | Check shop |
| Imperium Relic | Check shop |
The shop’s featured items rotate periodically. The restock timer appears in the shop, with the rotation occurring approximately every six hours.
Make sure to check the shop regularly because some of these items can be useful for your fishing progress.
How to Level Up Hammyshork Modes
Another important mechanic of the Hammyshork Rod is its feeding system.
You can feed fish to your different Hammyshork modes to increase their levels and unlock additional abilities.
However, you cannot feed just any fish.
To feed a Hammyshork mode, you need a fish that meets these requirements:
- The fish must have an Exotic rarity or higher.
- The fish must have the Feeding Frenzy mutation.
Once you catch a fish that meets both requirements, an option will appear allowing you to feed it to your selected Hammyshork mode.
For example, if you catch a Treble Bass with the Feeding Frenzy mutation, you can feed it to Get Well Soon to increase its level.
You can also use Apex and other higher-rarity fish as long as they meet the requirements.
Each mode has its own abilities, and you need to level them up to unlock their full potential.
Hammyshork Mode Abilities at Level 30
Here are the abilities available when each mode reaches Level 30.
Hammy Mode
- 20% Stability
- 27% Fish Weight
- +18% Ocean’s Apex Chance
- 1.6x Final Fish Weight on Ocean’s Apex Catch
- Increased Bite Chance
- Increased Stun Time
- Progress Boost
Get Well Soon Mode
- 30% Resilience
- 20% Fish Weight
- +45% Feeding Frenzy Chance
- +20% Ocean’s Apex Chance
Well Mode
- 200 Durability
- 250% Scavenging
- 27% Natural Mutation Chance
- +5% Ocean’s Apex Chance
- 1.25x Relic Chance
- 5% Shark Token Chance
- Increased Bite Chance
- Increased Stun Time
- Progress Boost
Each mode focuses on different bonuses, making it worth leveling up all three rather than sticking with just one.
How to Get Fangspliter Rod in Fisch
Now that we have covered the Hammyshork Rod, let’s move on to the second new rod: Fangspliter.
Unlike Hammyshork, Fangspliter is obtained through a questline at the Fisch venue.
To begin, travel to the venue and find Ekko near the stage, next to Ken Carson.
Talk to Ekko to start the questline. You will need to complete several objectives before he rewards you with the Fangspliter Rod.
Here are all the quests and their requirements.
Step 1: Perfect Catch 7 Rubber Duckies
Your first objective is to perfect catch seven Rubber Duckies using the Nocturnal Rod.
You can find Rubber Duckies in Vertigo, at the very bottom of the area, just before entering The Depths.
Equip your Nocturnal Rod and catch seven Rubber Duckies with perfect catches.
Once you finish, return to Ekko and tell him that the quest is complete.
Reward: Elongated Rubber Ducky Soul Reaper Skin.
Step 2: Catch a Shiny or Sparkling Withered Colossal Squid
For the next quest, Ekko will ask you to catch and return a Shiny or Sparkling Withered Colossal Squid.
This one can take some time because you need the correct mutation.
There are two ways to get the Withered mutation:
| Method | Withered Chance |
|---|---|
| Withered Spear | 25% |
| Decayed Rod | 10% |
The Withered Spear is the better option because it offers a higher chance of getting the required mutation.
Once you catch a Colossal Squid with the required Withered mutation and the Shiny or Sparkling modifier, return to Ekko and submit it.
Rewards:
- Colossal Title
- Tiny Colossal Squid
Step 3: Complete 7 Full Day Cycles
After completing the previous objective, talk to Ekko again.
This time, you need to remain in the game for seven full day cycles.
A full day cycle consists of:
- Daytime.
- Nighttime.
- Daytime again.
You need to complete this process seven times.
The easiest way to finish this objective is by using Sundial Totems to change the time.
Keep using your Sundial Totems until you have completed all seven cycles. Make sure the quest counter increases before moving on.
Once you reach seven completed cycles, return to Ekko and submit the quest.
Rewards:
- Bat Title
- 7 Sundial Totems
Step 4: Catch a Shiny or Sparkling Distraught Enchant Relic
For the next objective, you need to catch and return a Shiny or Sparkling Distraught Enchant Relic.
The best rod for this task is the Dreambreaker Rod because it has a higher chance of applying the Distraught mutation.
Here are the chances:
| Time | Distraught Mutation Chance |
|---|---|
| Nighttime | 35% |
| Daytime | 25% |
I recommend using the Dreambreaker Rod at nighttime because it gives you a better chance of obtaining the required mutation.
Once you get the Shiny or Sparkling Distraught Enchant Relic, return to Ekko and submit it.
Reward: Batwing Lantern.
The Batwing Lantern is a cosmetic item that adds a pair of bat wings to your character’s back.
Step 5: Perfect Catch Any Megalodon Using Nocturnal Rod
You are almost done with the Fangspliter questline.
For the final objective, Ekko will ask you to perfect catch any Megalodon using the Nocturnal Rod.
You don’t need a specific Megalodon variant for this quest. Just make sure you use the Nocturnal Rod and successfully complete a perfect catch.
Once you have completed the objective, return to Ekko and submit the quest.
You will finally receive:
- Fangspliter Rod
- Megalodon Tooth Bobber
That’s everything you need to do to unlock the new Fangspliter Rod.
Fangspliter Rod Stats and Passive Ability
The Fangspliter Rod is another powerful addition to Fisch, featuring impressive base stats and a unique bat-based passive ability.
Here are its stats:
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Lure Speed | 222% |
| Luck | 222% |
| Control | 0.22 |
| Resilience | 22% |
| Max Kg | Infinite |
The rod also has a unique mutation called Split, which has a 25% chance of activating when catching fish.
The Split mutation comes with a 9x multiplier, making it an interesting bonus when fishing with this rod.
How Fangspliter’s Bat Passive Works
The most interesting feature of Fangspliter is its bat mechanic.
Every time you successfully perform a perfect catch using the rod, you gain one flying bat.
These bats will start flying around your character and can attack fish while you are fishing.
You can collect a maximum of 15 bats at once.
Here is how the passive works:
- Every perfect catch adds one bat.
- You can have up to 15 bats flying around you.
- Each bat provides an additional 5% Progress Speed.
- At 15 bats, you receive a maximum of 75% Progress Speed.
However, there is a downside.
Every time you gain another bat, your rod’s control size decreases by 0.02.
This continues until you reach 15 bats, where your control size is reduced by a total of 0.30.
Also, if you fail a perfect catch, you will lose all your accumulated bats and return to zero.
So, if you want to get the maximum benefit from Fangspliter, you need to keep performing perfect catches without failing.
The bat mechanic is particularly interesting because the bats don’t just follow you around. They actually dive into the water and attack the fish while you are fishing.

Hammyshork is especially interesting because of its three different modes and feeding system, while Fangspliter offers a unique bat mechanic that increases your fishing progress speed.
I recommend completing Hammy’s questline first if you want to collect Shark Tokens and unlock all three modes. After that, you can focus on Ekko’s challenges to get your hands on Fangspliter.
Good luck with both questlines, and enjoy the new rods!
