S Tier Weapons
Covenant Sword
The Covenant Sword is one of the best weapons you can get early in Crimson Moon.
It has a base attack of 33, but its real strength comes from its Weapon Art, Impaling Throw.
You can throw the sword at an enemy from a distance and then attack again to recall it. The attack deals damage when the sword hits the target and then deals additional damage when you bring it back.
I really like this weapon for early runs because you don’t always have to stand directly in front of an enemy to deal damage. You can use Impaling Throw from a safer distance, which can help you preserve your HP and avoid burning through your Health Flasks.
For general early-game progression, this is one of the safest weapons to pick up.
Recantation Sword
The Recantation Sword is another excellent choice, especially if you’re focusing on bosses.
It also has a base attack of 33, but its Weapon Art, Gouging Throw, gives it a much stronger focus on Bleed.
You can throw the weapon at an enemy to apply Bleed and then recall it by attacking again.
The Bleed effect is particularly useful against enemies with large health bars because you’re able to add damage over time while continuing the fight.
It also comes with the Chalice of Conquest Boon. When you have 0 Health Flasks, hitting enemies eight times restores a Health Flask.
That extra sustain can be extremely valuable during long boss fights. If you’re running low on healing, the ability to earn another Health Flask through combat can potentially keep the run going.
For boss-focused builds, I’d definitely keep the Recantation Sword in mind.
A Tier Weapons
Revenant Sword
The Revenant Sword is a strong one-handed weapon for anyone who wants to build around Frost.
It has a base attack of 33 and comes with the Wintersun Weapon Art.
Wintersun encases nearby enemies with Frost and can instantly freeze nearby foes.
This makes the Revenant Sword particularly useful when you’re dealing with multiple enemies at once. Freezing enemies gives you a chance to reposition or attack without immediately having to deal with everything surrounding you.
It’s useful in both Solo and Co-Op, so I’d consider it a strong alternative to the Covenant Sword if you prefer Frost-based utility.
Reaper Poleaxe
The Reaper Poleaxe is one of the better early-game two-handed weapons.
It has a base attack of 55, giving it considerably more base attack than the one-handed weapons mentioned above.
Its Weapon Art is Winter Solstice, which summons a wedge of ice from the ground and deals Frost damage.
The ability is useful for attacking enemies from a distance while also giving you Frost utility. Another nice part of the weapon is that the Weapon Art has a relatively small mana cost compared with the amount of damage it can deal.
If you’re looking for an early two-handed weapon, this is one I’d definitely consider.
B Tier Weapon
Crescent Moon Halberd
The Crescent Moon Halberd is another two-handed option with a base attack of 55.
Its Weapon Art is also Winter Solstice, allowing you to summon an ice wedge and deal Frost damage.
The main reason I’d use this weapon is its crowd-control potential.
The Frost effect can freeze enemies and create a useful damage window. This becomes especially helpful when you’re surrounded by several enemies and need a moment to regain control of the fight.
It’s a good early-game weapon, but compared with the Reaper Poleaxe, I would place it slightly lower on this list.
Best Weapon for Each Playstyle
Best for General Progression
If you want one weapon that works well for general early-game progression, I’d go with the Covenant Sword.
Its ranged Weapon Art gives you another way to damage enemies without constantly putting yourself in danger.
Best for Bosses
