Genesis War Character Tier List – Best Heroes Guide

Global launch is always a bit chaotic in Genesis War. Everyone is pulling, testing, and trying to figure out what actually works. After spending time with early access builds and seeing how units perform in real gameplay, one thing becomes very clear: rarity alone doesn’t decide strength here.

A fully starred lower rarity unit can outperform a fresh legendary, and that’s something many players only realize after they’ve already invested wrong. So instead of blindly chasing gold units, here’s a grounded tier list and how to actually interpret it.

Genesis War Character Tier List – Best Heroes Guide

S Tier Characters

Landam

A hybrid support DPS who specializes in debuffing enemies while boosting allies, scaling mainly with INT (magic attack) and effect accuracy, making him one of the best units for both damage amplification and team utility.

Iolin (Free Unit)

A frontline carry with strong balanced stats (ATK, DEF, HP) who excels early due to her high base scaling and free 6★ upgrade, allowing her to deal consistent damage while staying durable in most PvE content.

Diablo

A high-scaling mage focused on INT and skill power, capable of applying heavy debuffs and using mind control mechanics, making her extremely powerful in longer fights when properly invested with gear and weapon upgrades.

A Tier Characters

Kana

A ranged DPS specializing in boss damage, scaling heavily with ATK and crit stats, and becoming significantly stronger at higher star levels due to improved debuff uptime and damage output.

Catherine

A hybrid tank/support who scales with HP and DEF, capable of absorbing damage while also applying boss debuffs, making her one of the most flexible units for PvE progression.

Durant

A pure defensive tank built around high HP, DEF, and damage mitigation, designed to protect the team and stabilize fights rather than contribute damage.

Elizabeth Pandragon

A melee fighter with balanced ATK and survivability, progressing into advanced classes that improve her burst damage and frontline presence, making her a reliable early-game damage dealer.

B Tier Characters (Situational or Scaling Units)

Hanzo

An assassin-type unit focused on ATK, crit rate, and speed, dealing burst damage but falling off due to weaker scaling compared to other DPS options unless heavily upgraded.

Gishne

A utility mage that focuses on INT and TP (energy) generation, providing team support by restoring resources, though lacking an ultimate ability limits his overall impact.

Strong Free & Low Rarity Units

Nina

A healer who scales with INT and healing power, providing consistent sustain and recovery, making her one of the most important support units for both early and mid-game.

Kevin Hastings

A defensive tank with strong HP and DEF scaling, offering damage reduction and team protection, making him a reliable fallback if you lack higher rarity tanks.

Kakoski (Blue Rare Assassin)

A fast attacker scaling with ATK and speed, similar to Hanzo but easier to upgrade, often outperforming him early due to higher star levels.

Other Notable Units

Crow

A high-tier DPS known for extreme damage scaling with ATK and crit, often considered one of the strongest late-game damage dealers depending on future banners.

Jane

A boss-focused damage dealer with high single-target scaling, requiring multiple dupes and weapon investment to reach full potential.

Beradin

A flexible mage with INT-based scaling, capable of dealing consistent AoE damage across multiple types of content.

Sharn

A melee DPS focused on burst damage and PvP performance, scaling with ATK and crit stats, making her strong in competitive modes.

Stat System

To make sense of all of this, here’s what stats actually matter:

  • ATK – increases physical damage
  • INT – increases magic damage and healing
  • DEF / HP – improves survivability
  • Speed – affects turn order
  • TP – resource used for skills

Each character leans into a specific stat combination, which is why team balance matters more than just picking “strong units.”

The biggest thing to understand in Genesis War is that a character’s strength isn’t just about their kit, it’s about how well they scale with stars, gear, and team synergy.

A fully upgraded “average” unit can outperform a top-tier unit sitting at low investment.

Once you start building around roles instead of rarity, everything clicks much faster.
