If you’ve logged into Anime Expeditions after Update 0.5, you’ll immediately notice there’s a lot going on. Between the new Villain Invasion event, limited-time units, battle pass, bounty board, and event shop, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and not know what to focus on first.
The good news is that the update is actually pretty straightforward once you understand how all the new systems work together. Whether you’re aiming to collect every new character or simply want to farm event rewards efficiently, this guide covers everything you need to know.
How to Get All New Units & Beat Villain Invasion Anime Expeditions
Update 0.5 introduces four limited-time event units that can only be obtained during the Villain Invasion event.
Crow
- Rarity: Secret
- Evolution: Crow Blackfire
Crow is the rarest unit in the event and will likely take the longest to obtain. If you’re chasing the strongest event character, this should be your main goal.
Cursed Immortal
- Rarity: Mythic
- Evolution: Cursed Immortal Black Sun
A powerful Mythic unit that can be evolved through the event progression system.
Dark Mage
- Rarity: Mythic
- Evolution: Dark Mage Sovereign
Dark Mage can be summoned from the event banner and later upgraded into its evolved form.
Razor Jaw Hunter
- Rarity: Mythic
- Evolution: Razor Jaw Hunter
Another limited Mythic introduced alongside the Villain Invasion event.
Each of these units also has a matching equipment item designed specifically for them.
How to Get the New Units
The primary way to unlock the new characters is through the Villain Banner.
Simply use your summons on the limited banner while it’s available.
During testing, Dark Mage appeared fairly early, while Crow remained the rarest pull due to its Secret rarity.
Because the banner is limited-time, it’s worth spending your event resources here before focusing on older banners.
Can You Evolve the Units Immediately?
Yes, but only if you already have the required evolution materials.
Players who purchase enough event resources can technically evolve certain units much faster than those progressing naturally through the event.
For everyone else, you’ll need to farm the event game modes and collect the necessary materials over time.
Villain Invasion Event Explained
The Villain Invasion is the main game mode added in Update 0.5.
It includes:
- Limited event map
- Event quests
- Limited banner
- Event battle pass
- Event shop
- Exclusive rewards
Nearly every new reward introduced in this update is connected to this event, so you’ll spend most of your time here.
Event Battle Pass
The Villain Invasion has its own separate Battle Pass.
Purchasing the Premium version unlocks additional rewards, including:
- Equipment
- Gems
- Rerolls
- Event resources
- Vibing Emote
- Beyond Razor Jaw exclusive skin
Even the free track offers useful rewards, so it’s worth progressing through regardless of whether you purchase Premium.
Villain Hunt
Another new feature is Villain Hunt.
Instead of being a separate game mode, Villains can appear while you’re playing non-competitive content.
Defeating them rewards Villain Chests.
These chests may contain:
- Villain Coins
- Trait Rerolls
- Upgrade materials
- Exclusive Crow Rider skin (rare drop)
Since Villain Chests are one of the easiest ways to earn extra event rewards, don’t ignore these encounters when they appear.
Bounty Board
The Bounty Board gives you daily missions that reward Event Coins.
Examples include:
- Summoning units
- Completing specific objectives
- Finishing event content
If you don’t like your current bounty, you can reroll it using Gold for a chance at better rewards.
Higher-star bounties generally provide larger payouts, making rerolls worthwhile if you’re aiming to maximise your Event Coins.
Event Shop
The Event Shop lets you spend the Event Coins earned from bounties and other activities.
Rewards include:
- Rerolls
- Upgrade materials
- Various event items
One of the standout rewards is a bundle of 200 rerolls, making the shop one of the best places to invest your Event Coins.
Villain Bundles
Players who don’t mind spending Robux can also purchase three Villain Bundles.
These bundles include combinations of:
- Trait rerolls
- Equipment rerolls
- Stat rerolls
- Event Coins
- Exclusive cosmetics
- Demon Wings Mount
- Raven Accessory
- Exclusive skins
While they’re completely optional, they provide a quick boost if you’re trying to progress through the event faster.
Event Acts
The Villain Invasion is split into multiple stages.
You’ll begin with:
- Act 1
After clearing it, you’ll unlock:
- Act 2
- Act 3
- Final Act
Each act must be completed before the next becomes available.
As you progress, you’ll unlock additional rewards and gain access to more event content.
Tips for Farming the Event Faster
If your goal is to unlock everything before the event ends, try following this routine:
- Complete the Villain Invasion acts first.
- Spend your summons on the Villain Banner.
- Finish your daily Bounty Board missions.
- Defeat Villains whenever they appear for extra Villain Chests.
- Spend Event Coins regularly in the Event Shop.
- Progress through the Event Battle Pass every day.
- Save evolution materials for the units you plan to use most.
Following this approach lets you make progress in multiple systems at the same time instead of focusing on just one.
How to Unlock Crow Blackfire
Crow begins as the event’s limited Secret unit and evolves into Crow Blackfire.
To obtain the evolved version, you’ll first need to summon Crow from the Villain Banner and then collect the required evolution materials through the event.
Since Crow has the lowest summon rate, it’s expected to be the most difficult unit to obtain during Update 0.5.
Update 0.5 brings much more than a few new characters—it introduces a complete event packed with limited units, cosmetics, equipment, quests, and progression systems. If you’re planning to play Anime Expeditions over the next few weeks, your priority should be farming the Villain Invasion event before it rotates out.
Even if you’re not aiming to collect every unit, it’s still worth completing the event acts, clearing your daily bounties, and opening as many Villain Chests as possible. These activities provide valuable resources while giving you a chance to earn exclusive rewards that may not return once the event ends.
