New Ability: The Last Great Mage (Mythic)
The Last Great Mage is a new Mythic ability inspired by Frieren, the powerful mage from the Hero Party. It focuses on using powerful magic and ranged spells to overwhelm opponents from a distance.
With this ability, you can unleash a barrage of magical attacks against enemies. If you enjoy fighting from range and dealing damage through powerful spells, this is one of the main abilities to check out in Update 6.3.
How to Get The Last Great Mage
To obtain The Last Great Mage, you must complete a quest given by the Elven Mage. The quest involves defeating Mimics, hunting down a dangerous enemy, crafting a special vessel, and defeating the Mirror Demon.
Follow these steps to unlock the ability.
Step 1: Talk to the Elven Mage
Find the Elven Mage near West Station. Interact with her to begin the quest.
She will ask whether you have seen any grimoires before asking you to help her defeat some Mimics.
Step 2: Defeat 3 Mimics and Collect 3 Grimoires
You need to defeat three Mimics and obtain three Grimoires. Mimics have a chance to appear when you interact with Antique Chests.
The listed Antique Chest spawn locations are:
- Dragon’s Cavern
- Directly in front of Dragon’s Cavern
- Prison
- Near West Park
Search these locations for Antique Chests and keep checking them until you encounter the Mimics you need. Defeat them and collect the three Grimoires, then return to the Elven Mage.
Step 3: Defeat Lügner the Deceiver
After you complete the Mimic objective, the Elven Mage will tell you about a dangerous fiend in the area and ask you to defeat him.
You must defeat Lügner the Deceiver, who is associated with the Slayer Quest from Hecate.
Complete the required Slayer Quest to summon and defeat the Deceiver. Make sure you collect the Greater Demon Horns he drops, as they are used for crafting Blood Demon.
Step 4: Craft a Magical Vessel
Once you defeat the Deceiver, return to the Elven Mage. She will explain that the Mirror Demon is an excellent source of rare Grimoires.
Your next objective is to craft a Magical Vessel and bring it to her. She will enchant it, turning it into an Enchanted Magical Vessel.
Step 5: Summon and Defeat the Mirror Demon
Take the Enchanted Magical Vessel to the Boss Altar and use it to summon the Mirror Demon.
Prepare for a difficult boss fight before summoning it. Defeat the Mirror Demon and obtain the Ancient Grimoire it drops.
Step 6: Return to the Elven Mage
Bring the Ancient Grimoire back to the Elven Mage to complete the quest.
After finishing the quest, she will grant you the Mage’s Staff. Use the Mage’s Staff on Standless to obtain The Last Great Mage.
The Last Great Mage Mastery
The Last Great Mage has a mastery objective tied to the Mirror Demon.
- Requirement: Defeat the Mirror Demon while using The Last Great Mage.
- Reward: Unlocks the Slayer awakening move for The Last Great Mage.
Completing this mastery is important if you want to unlock the ability’s additional awakening move.
New Ability: Blood Demon (Epic)
Blood Demon is a new Epic ability based on the sanguine powers of Lügner the Deceiver.
This ability lets you transform your own blood into deadly weapons. Its attacks can overwhelm opponents and apply a mark that drains their health. However, you need to be careful because some of your moves also consume your own HP.
Blood Demon can be a good choice if you prefer aggressive combat, but managing your health is an important part of using it effectively.
How to Get Blood Demon
Unlike The Last Great Mage, Blood Demon does not require you to complete the entire Frieren questline.
You need to craft a Bloodied Tome using the following materials:
- 1 Grimoire
- Greater Demon Horns
Once you have crafted the Bloodied Tome, use it on Standless to obtain Blood Demon.
You can obtain Grimoires from Mimics and Greater Demon Horns from Lügner the Deceiver.
New NPCs in Update 6.3
Update 6.3 introduces five new NPCs associated with the new abilities and questline.
Elven Mage
The Elven Mage is an interactive NPC located near West Station.
She starts The Last Great Mage quest and guides you through the objectives involving Grimoires, Mimics, the Deceiver, and the Mirror Demon.
Demon
The Demon is a hostile NPC that spawns at:
- Syrup Village
- Floating Village
Defeating Demons helps progress the Lügner the Deceiver Slayer Quest.
Lügner the Deceiver
Lügner the Deceiver is a summonable hostile enemy connected to the Slayer Quest.
You need to defeat him to progress The Last Great Mage quest. He also drops Greater Demon Horns, which are required to craft the Bloodied Tome.
Mimic
Mimics are hostile enemies that have a chance to spawn from Antique Chests.
They are essential to the early stages of The Last Great Mage quest because you need to defeat three Mimics and collect three Grimoires.
Mirror Demon
The Mirror Demon is a powerful hostile boss that you can summon at the Boss Altar.
You must use an Enchanted Magical Vessel to summon it during The Last Great Mage quest. Defeating this boss gives you the Ancient Grimoire needed to complete the quest.
New Traits in Update 6.3
Four new traits have been added to A Universal Time.
| Trait | Rarity |
|---|---|
| Wounding | Rare |
| Blighted | Epic |
| Phoenix | Mythic |
| Forsaken Phoenix | Hexed Mythic |
These traits add more options for players looking to customize their builds. Forsaken Phoenix is the highest-rarity trait listed in this update, with the Hexed Mythic classification.
The update notes do not provide detailed effects for these traits, so their specific combat bonuses are not listed here.
New Emote System and Emote Wheel
The emote system has received a major overhaul in Update 6.3. The previous system has been phased out and replaced with a new Emote Wheel, giving players a more convenient way to select and use their favorite emotes.
How to Get Emotes
There are several ways to obtain emotes in the new system:
- Player kills: Every 30 player kills reward you with a random emote from the available pool.

- uPoint purchases: Buying emotes through uPoint guarantees a unique emote.
- Duplicate emotes: Duplicate emotes are converted into 5,000 uShards each.
If you receive an emote but are unsure whether you want to select it, you can hide the selection until your next join.
Emote Wheel Pages
The new Emote Wheel includes multiple pages to help you organize your favorite emotes.
- Two pages are unlocked by default.
- A new gamepass unlocks a third page.

A Universal Time Update 6.3: The Height of Magic is a substantial update that adds new progression content while changing the balance of several established abilities.
The Last Great Mage offers a new Mythic ability with a multi-stage questline, while Blood Demon provides a more accessible Epic ability that uses blood-based attacks at the cost of the user’s own HP. The update also expands the trait pool, adds new achievements and titles, and completely overhauls how players collect and equip emotes.
The balance changes are equally important, especially for players using The World, NUCLEAR-STAR, Vampire, or Steel Spin. If you want to get the most out of the update, start by completing the Elven Mage’s quest, collecting the new items, and working toward the achievements that offer the biggest rewards.
