Papers are one of the most important collectibles in 1348 Ex Voto because they’re used to purchase skills across Aeta’s four skill trees. If you’re trying to completely upgrade Aeta, you’ll need to collect almost every Paper available throughout the campaign.
Patch 1.50 made this considerably easier. Paper values were standardized, the total number available was increased, and—most importantly—Chapter Select was added.
This guide covers the Paper locations throughout all nine chapters, including the locations introduced or changed with Patch 1.50.
1348 Ex Voto Papers Locations – Scattered in Wind & Duelist
After Patch 1.50, there are:
500 Papers total
These are spread across:
100 Paper nodes
Every Paper node now awards:
5 Papers
You need 465 Papers to purchase every skill.
That means you can miss up to:
35 Papers, or 7 Paper nodes
…and still have enough to completely unlock all four skill trees.
Before Patch 1.50, things were less forgiving. There were only 480 Papers available, meaning you could skip just 15 and still purchase everything.
Papers Per Chapter
The post-Patch 1.50 distribution is:
| Chapter | Papers |
|---|---|
| Chapter I | 20 |
| Chapter II | 60 |
| Chapter III | 60 |
| Chapter IV | 60 |
| Chapter V | 60 |
| Chapter VI | 60 |
| Chapter VII | 60 |
| Chapter VIII | 60 |
| Chapter IX | 60 |
| Total | 500 |
Chapter I is the only exception to the normal 60-Paper distribution.
Since each node is worth five Papers, Chapter I contains four nodes, while Chapters II through IX contain 12 each.
How to Use Chapter Select
Patch 1.50 added Chapter Select, which is a massive improvement for collectible hunting.
Load a save created under Patch 1.50 or later, pause the game, and select:
Load
You can then choose previously reached chapters and jump back into them.
This means you’re no longer forced to complete another entire playthrough because you missed a Paper node several hours earlier.
If you’re cleaning up Papers for skills or achievements, use Chapter Select to revisit whichever chapters are short of their expected total.
How Many Papers Do You Need for Every Skill?
Purchasing every skill costs 465 Papers.
They’re divided between four skill trees.
Prudentia – 225 Papers
Prudentia is available from the beginning.
It primarily improves fundamental survival attributes, including:
Health
Guard stamina
Healing/food capacity
Each of its three progression branches costs 75 Papers to complete.
That brings Prudentia’s complete cost to:
225 Papers
It’s by far your largest Paper investment.
Auditia – 80 Papers
Auditia is also available from the beginning.
Its upgrades focus on your offensive moveset, including additional light attacks for your stances and Perfect Attack-related abilities.
Completing Auditia costs:
80 Papers
Fortitudo – 80 Papers
Fortitudo becomes available after defeating the Chapter III boss.
It focuses primarily on additional heavy attacks and parrying.
There is an important Patch 1.50 difference here.
Previously, the Fortitudo Perfect Parry skill essentially unlocked the parrying system. Patch 1.50 makes parrying available from the beginning instead.
The corresponding Fortitudo upgrade now improves Perfect Parry by allowing it to inflict guard damage.
Completing Fortitudo costs:
80 Papers
Celeritas – 80 Papers
Celeritas unlocks after defeating the Chapter VI boss.
It provides additional light attacks and access to Perfect Dodge-related improvements, making it particularly useful if you prefer evasion over blocking and parrying.
Completing Celeritas costs:
80 Papers
Altogether:
225 + 80 + 80 + 80 = 465 Papers
Since 500 are available after Patch 1.50, you have a comfortable 35-Paper buffer.

Use it as a platform to jump through the opening.
Loot the Papers inside.

Paper Running Total Checklist
A quick way to tell whether you’ve missed something is to compare your total after every chapter:
| Chapter Completed | Expected Total |
|---|---|
| Chapter I | 20 |
| Chapter II | 80 |
| Chapter III | 140 |
| Chapter IV | 200 |
| Chapter V | 260 |
| Chapter VI | 320 |
| Chapter VII | 380 |
| Chapter VIII | 440 |
| Chapter IX | 500 |
If you’re five Papers short, you’ve missed one node.
Ten short means two nodes, 15 means three, and so on.
That makes identifying the chapter containing your missing collectible considerably easier.
Do You Need All 500 Papers?
No.
This is one of the biggest things to know if you’re only interested in unlocking every skill.
All skills require 465 Papers, while Patch 1.50 provides 500.
Therefore:
500 available – 465 required = 35 spare Papers
Since every node gives five, you can completely miss seven Paper nodes and still purchase every skill.
There’s little reason to panic over a couple of missing nodes unless you’re specifically aiming for a complete collectible run.
What Changed With Patch 1.50?
Patch 1.50 significantly reworked the Paper system.
The major changes are:
- Every Paper node now awards exactly 5 Papers.
- The overall total increased from 480 to 500.
- Chapter I dropped from 25 to 20 Papers.
- Chapters II through VIII now contain 60 Papers each.
- Chapter IX was changed to 60 Papers.
- Several existing Paper locations had their amounts adjusted.
- New Paper nodes were added to multiple chapters.
- Chapter Select was added.
- Parrying is now available from the start rather than being unlocked through Fortitudo.
- Fortitudo’s corresponding Perfect Parry upgrade now allows Perfect Parries to deal guard damage.
If you’re following an older collectible guide, this is important. Pre-1.50 Paper counts and some of the individual node information no longer match the current version.
How to Get the Duelist Achievement
The important number is 465 Papers.
That’s enough to completely purchase:
Prudentia – 225
Auditia – 80
Fortitudo – 80
Celeritas – 80
You don’t need to obsessively collect all 500 Papers before spending them. Purchase upgrades as you progress, particularly ones that complement how you prefer to fight.
And thanks to Chapter Select, missing a handful of Papers isn’t nearly as painful as it was at launch.
If you reach the end and discover you’re short, compare your totals against the chapter checklist above and revisit the chapters where you’re missing nodes.
With all four trees completed, you’ll have fully developed Aeta’s combat abilities and finished one of 1348 Ex Voto’s biggest collectible grinds.
